Open Innovation Capabilities and Competences
Productivity can be enhanced and competitive advantages can be gained by using an open innovation approach instead of a closed innovation approach. The successful implementation of an open innovation approach requires careful examination of the existing innovation capabilities and competences of a company. This study aims to explore and give a picture of the current level of open innovation capabilities and competences of companies with particular emphasis on companies in Finland. A quantitative approach was followed and a 13-item survey was administered. The reliability of the survey used was.957 and its items included statements regarding the five-level maturity model for open innovation. Level five of the model represents the highest maturity level and level one of the model corresponds to the lowest. Claims regarding maturity level one were excluded as innovation activities do not occur at this level. The survey was administered in both 2022 and 2024 and consisted of three questions for each maturity level from level two to level four and four questions for level three. Maturity levels four and five indicate that companies understand the significance of strategic thinking and that they also include innovation strategies within their general strategy or perceive it as an integral addition to their strategy. We conclude that the effective open innovation culture forms an essential part of the overall success of a company. Therefore, an increase in innovation culture characteristics simultaneously results in an increase in the innovation maturity level.19110117Proceedings of the 19th European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, ECIE 202

BACKGROUND: The employment experiences of individuals with physical disabilities in previous studies shed light on the challenges they face and the assistance they receive in the workplace. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to examine the practical and emotional social support received by individuals with physical disabilities in their workplaces from colleagues, employers, or supervisors. The study explored different forms of social support, considering both positive and negative outcomes. METHODS: Twenty participants completed a questionnaire consisting of open and closed-type questions to gather demographic and personal data. In-depth interviews were conducted as free discussions. Employing content analysis, the researchers categorized the reported forms of workplace social support into four primary categories and calculated their frequency of occurrence. RESULTS: Participants reported 175 cases of practical support and 358 cases of emotional support, both with positive and negative outcomes. Among these cases, 376 referred to social support, practical and emotional, with positive outcomes, and 157 to social support, practical and emotional, with negative outcomes. CONCLUSION: The participants received more cases of social support, practical and emotional, with positive outcomes than corresponding cases of social support with negative outcomes. At the same time, the reported cases of emotional support with positive and negative outcomes outnumbered the corresponding cases of practical support. These findings could be the starting point for future studies in workplace social support for people with physical disabilities.61111512

Modeling of sustainable integrated supply chains under the consideration of European Union regulations
This work introduces a multi-period, multi-commodity, inventory-routing problem with strategic fleet scheduling decisions, under the consideration of speed limits, as well as strict European Union regulations on truck drivers’ working and driving time. To address the new problem, a mixed integer linear programming model was developed. Several artificial but realistic problem instances were randomly generated following relative guidelines from the open literature, to validate and assess the performance of the novel mathematical model. Furthermore, in an effort to produce useful managerial insights, several sensitivity analyses were performed considering different fluctuation rates on key model parameters
Investigating the relationship between KM implementation capability and TQM: a Greek public sector case study
This study aims to create a conceptual model of Knowledge Management Implementation Capability (KMIC) (including KM-tools at each K-process) and TQM in the Greek public sector and investigate the relationship between them. The case study methodology is used by employing mixed research methods. Specifically, the conceptual model was constructed by using 15 public sector employees semi-structured interviews. Moreover, based on 420 responses of an online structured questionnaire the model’s validity and reliability are assessed by using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, and hypotheses testing through the PLS structural equation model (SEM). From the data analysis, we found that the construct KMIC includes technological and non-technological KM tools at the ‘K-creation’, and the ‘K-dissemination and application’ process, and TQM principles include ‘citizen satisfaction and strategic planning’, and ‘HR focus and leadership commitment’. In addition, there is a positive interaction between KMIC and TQM. In summary, it is the first time that KM tools are being studied in KMIC, as well as the relationship between KMIC and TQM in the public sector.351-220222
Studying the effects of educational games on cultivating computational thinking skills to primary school students: a systematic literature review
This article presents a systematic literature review (SLR) on the effects of serious games, or more specifically educational games that aim to teach Computational Thinking (CT) skills to primary school students. Sixty one studies from various data sources were evaluated based on the CT skills and programming concepts addressed, the evaluation instruments used, the target audience, the learning outcomes and their results. The findings of the studies on the efficiency or impact of educational games on the acquisition of the proposed topics were positive, indicating that educational programming games can help primary school students develop CT skills or understand fundamental programming concepts. Additionally, the results suggest a general positive attitude towards the use of an educational game for learning purposes, while students perceive games as a great motivator for engaging in CT activities. Finally, the research discusses research gaps and shortages, as well as methodological limitations and recommendations for future work in the relevant domain.1141283132
SDG commentary: collaboration services for sustainable development goal (SDG) partnerships
Purpose: The purpose of this commentary is to complete the synthesis of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into Seven Commentaries on Service Research Themes developed by ServCollab and the Journal of Services Marketing. As an approach to achieving SDG #17, ServCollab’s collaborative logic and design perspective for collaboration services for sustainable development partnerships are presented. Design/methodology/approach: Collaboration is ServCollab’s Service Research Theme #7, which reframes the UN SDG meta goal #17 of Partnerships. In prior ServCollab research, four possible human interactions were identified: conflict, competition, cooperation and collaboration. Only the shared purpose of collaboration enables elevating the human experience. Findings: The authors found no published service research that studied SDG #17, which means there are huge opportunities for service research on the role of collaboration in service systems. The alignment between the UN SDGs and ServCollab’s goals is explored. A research agenda for service research and SDG goals was proposed for collaborative communications, collaborative technologies and collaborative projects. Practical implications: Practical ideas are offered for serving humanity through collaboration. Collaborations are the only practical solutions to humanity’s myriad sustainable development problems. Social implications: When the United Nations developed its first 16 SDGs, they knew that accomplishing these goals required complex collaborations. That is why SDG #17 is Partnerships. ServCollab’s serving humanity logic applies collaboration to all social settings (large or small) where working together can sustain and regenerate the service ecosystem of Planet Earth. Originality/value: This commentary describes a unique approach to building collaborative capacity for conducting service research projects for sustaining and regenerating the service ecosystem of Planet Earth.38223824

The impact of FinTech/Blockchain Adoption on Corporate ESG and DEI Performance
Monitoring a company's efficiency is one of its primary responsibilities. There are many approaches in our contemporary society that either use IT or the conventional technique. Methods for measuring efficiency fall into three primary categories: parametric, nonparametric, and ratio indicators. We prioritize a firm's inputs and outputs when choosing metrics to measure efficiency. Establishing objectives and goals in entrepreneurship necessitates a thorough comprehension, appreciation, and knowledge of sustainability, and assessing the economic growth quality of a corporation is an essential task for theoretical and empirical sustainability assessment. When measuring the efficiency of entrepreneurship in terms of achieving desired values of macroeconomic indicators (e.g., sustainable economic growth objectives), data envelopment analysis (DEA), a widely used technique in efficiency analysis, has taken into account the economic, environmental, and social impact of entrepreneurship as the three dimensions of sustainability. The objective of this paper is to test the influence of FinTech/Blockchain adoption on corporate ESG and DEI performances using a novel DEA approach for sustainable development assessment. It highlights the significance of using a scalable technique for ESG efficiency study and gives scholars a more thorough viewpoint on the subject. In a collection of 50 enterprises, a DEA model was utilized for the analysis. For sustainable performance assessment using the proposed DEA technique, we defined as inputs six financial metrics, and as outputs 11 ESG/Blockchain adoption, and four DEI quality metrics to measure the firm’s efficiency. The annual business data was gathered between 2017 and 2023. In all country situations we discovered that, when DEI initiatives mediate, there is a strong correlation between ESG corporate performance and the quality of economic growth (particularly in the innovation and integrity blockchain adoption performance success metrics). Our study provides additional in-depth details on the FinTech/blockchain adoption environment in comparison to the findings of previous researchers. The sustainable entrepreneurship performance (a latent variable regarded as a dependent target factor) is calculated using eight (8) factors as observed variables, which is the first to consider the dynamics of ESG/BCA and DEI quality metrics as DEA outputs. The study also examines the mediating role of DEI corporate initiatives. By conducting an empirical investigation, the suggested scalable framework makes it evident which company is more efficient in moving toward sustainability, assisting corporate management in increasing the effectiveness of economic growth.212145215
