The Establishment of a Global Authority and a Single Framework for the Financial Products: Labour Policies and Economic Challenges
Free markets (Laissez-faire) do not necessarily optimize the balance between work and the level of income andconsumption. In incompletely informed markets, active labor policies can improve the balance between theunemployed and job vacancies, as well as income disruptions from uninsured work, increasing employment and production. This, in turn, increases the income of factors that are complementary to work: in fact, where work is the most important source of income for most individuals, however with political decisions, less weight may also be given to other income factors. This is especially true in societies with high wealth inequality, where active policies have less political support than passive policies, which increase the lack of earnings per unit of labor against other factors of production, or balance higher income from work with low productivity and non-working income. Consequently, in a unified and regulated framework, as proposed, and in which the money markets mainly tend towards perfection, "passive" labor policies tend to prevail, especially in societies where there is a higher than average, social wealth, but also less inequality of income from work. Otherwise, if there are inequalities in workers' incomes, in these markets, we need more "active" policies, which will support the production of income by other factors complementary to labor.132496
The Gifted Rating Scales-Preschool/Kindergarten Form (GRS-P): A Preliminary Examination of Their Psychometric Properties in Two Greek Samples
The present paper is based on data of two samples concerning the Gifted Rating Scales-Preschool/Kindergarten Form (GRS-P) that aimed to gain insight into the psychometric properties (internal consistency reliability, structural and convergent validity) of the Greek version of the GRS-P. In both studies, teachers estimated their students’ giftedness with the GRS-P and executive functions with the Childhood Executive Functioning Inventory (Study 1). In Study 2, kindergarteners were examined in cognitive measurements which included the colored progressive matrices, the children category test, the Athena test, and the mini-mental state examination. Statistical analyses (EFA, CFA, Cronbach’s α, and Pearson’s r coefficients) revealed the excellent internal consistency of the scales as well as their good factorial and convergent/discriminant validity. In relation to the children’s cognitive ability measures, it emphasized the fact that the GRS-P is a reliable and valid tool for teachers to assess their gifted students in a Greek cultural context.1211280
The Relationship of Effortful Control to Academic Achievement via Children’s Learning-Related Behaviors
Effortful control (EC) is a temperamental self-regulatory capacity, defined as the efficiency of executive attention, which is related to individual differences in self-regulation. Although effortful control covers some dispositional self-regulatory abilities important to cope with social demands of successful adaptation to school, such as attention regulation, individual differences in EC have recently been associated with school functioning through academic achievement including the efficient use of learning-related behaviors, which have been found to be a necessary precursor of learning and they refer to a set of children’s behaviors that involve organizational skills and appropriate habits of study. Therefore, the aim of this study is to review the literature on EC’s relationship to academic achievement via learning-related behaviors, which reflect the use of metacognitive control processes in kindergarten and elementary school students. The findings indicate that EC affects academic achievement through the facilitation of the efficient use of metacognitive control processes.120838039
Transformational Leadership, HRM practices and burnout during the COVID-19 pandemic: The role of personal stress, anxiety, and workplace loneliness
The present research investigates the crucial role of "Transformational Leadership (TFL)" on employees’ "anxiety", "personal stress", and "workplace loneliness", and finally on employees’ "burnout". Moreover, this survey investigates the moderating role of "HRM practices" in the relationship between TFL and burnout. For the needs of the research, "Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM)" was conducted on a sample of 459 Greek "customer-contact employees" based on thirteen hotels during the "COVID-19 pandemic". First, the findings uncover the dynamic of TFL in reducing all three stressors, namely "personal financial stress"; "anxiety"; and "workplace loneliness", thus prohibiting employees’ "burnout". Moreover, the study underscores the moderating role of "HRM practices" in strengthening the negative relationship between TFL and "burnout". Overall, the findings provide additional evidence on the process through which "HRM practices" interact with "TFL", "job stressors", and employees’ "burnout", a vital knowledge for HRM professionals and hotels’ managers.10210317
Visualizing Social Media Research in the Age of COVID-19
During the last three years, numerous research papers have been reported which use social media data to explore several issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bibliometric methods in this work are used to analyze 1427 peer-reviewed documents from the last three years extracted from the Web of Science database. The results of this study show that there was high growth in publications in open access journals with an annual rate reaching 19.3% and they also identify the top cited journals and research papers. The thematic analysis of papers shows that research topics related to social media for surveillance and monitoring of public attitudes and perceptions, mental health, misinformation, and fake news are important and well-developed, whereas topics related to distance-learning education with social media are emerging. The results also show that the USA, China, and the UK have published many papers and received a high number of citations because of their strong international collaboration.13837
Corporate Governance Compliance in Alternative Markets: The Case of the Alternative Market of ATHEX
In the current economic and social environment, companies are called upon to maintain their smooth operation, as well as to adopt practices that ensure their viability. One of the central pillars of sustainable development of listed companies in the alternative market, today, is the adoption of a strong corporate governance system. In the Greek financial sector, there are limited references to the companies that trade on the Alternative Market of the Athens Stock Exchange, as well as to the companies' approach to the Hellenic Corporate Governance Code. The aim of this work is to cover a part of the incomplete literature that exists in the scientific community for the companies on the alternative market of ATHEX, because the provisions of Hellenic Corporate Governance Code are considered crucial for the business strategy and for the creation of corporate value. The purpose of this paper is primarily to deepen the understanding on the new corporate governance code of ATHEX as well as on the application of the code practices in the selected sample of listed companies in the alternative market of the Athens Stock Exchange. From a theoretical perspective, extensive reference is made to the practices and legal framework of the corporate governance code in Greece. For the analysis and description of the data regarding corporate governance in the alternative market of ATHEX, and specifically, the adoption or not, of an effective corporate governance system. Information was collected from the financial reports of the sample companies for the period 2008-2021. The present study shows that listed companies in the alternative market are trying to adopt a framework of principles in line with the respective companies trading in the ATHEX main market. However, compared to the companies trading in the main market of ATHEX, there are huge differences in the degree of compliance for companies in the alternative market. Therefore, significant improvements should be made as the limited adoption of the corporate governance code is still very characteristic for the firms of the alternative market.14220723

A Double-Adaptive General Variable Neighborhood Search algorithm for the solution of the Traveling Salesman Problem
This work addresses a novel General Variable Neighborhood Search (GVNS) solution method, which integrates intelligent adaptive mechanisms to re-order the search operators during the intensification and diversification phases, in an effort to enhance its overall efficiency. To evaluate the performance of the new GVNS scheme, asymmetric and symmetric instances of the classic Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) from the TSPLib were solved. The obtained results of the Double-Adaptive GVNS were compared with those achieved by two single-adaptive GVNS, which use an adaptive mechanism either for the intensification or the diversification phase and by a conventional GVNS. For a fair comparison, all GVNS schemes were structured using the same local search and shaking operators. Moreover, the novel GVNS algorithm was compared with some recent solutions methods for the TSP, found in the open literature. The comparative studies revealed the high efficiency of the novel VNS scheme and underlines the significant impact of intelligent mechanisms on the performance of classic metaheuristic frameworks.10874
A Fair, Dynamic Load Balanced Task Distribution Strategy for Heterogeneous Cloud Platforms Based on Markov Process Modeling
Load balancing techniques in cloud computing can be applied at three different levels: Virtual machine load balancing, task load balancing, and resource load balancing. At all levels, load balancing should also be implemented in an efficient manner, to increase system performance. In this paper, we propose a fair, in terms of added workload per VM, task load balancing strategy, that aims to improve the average response time and the makespan of the system in the cloud environment. The problem is formulated as an irreducible finite state Markov process, which is known to have a balance equation for each state. From the balance state probabilities we derive the expected utilizations for the virtual machines (VM), which play a vital role in our task allocation approach. In our model, the Load Balancer (LBer) acts as a central server, which uses our proposed fair task allocation scheme to distribute the incoming tasks in a fair, balanced manner among the virtual machines, taking into account their current state as well as their processing capabilities. Our scheme has been compared to recent algorithms that use the particle swarm optimization and the Honey bee foraging scheme to achieve load balancing. Our experimental results show that our proposed scheme outperforms other state of the art schemes in terms of makespan, average response time, and resource utilization and provides lower degree of imbalance.10261492616
A Focus Group Study on Telepresence Robots in Education
Recently, there is an intensive interest regarding Telepresence Robots (TR). A TR enables audio and visual interaction between its remote driver and persons around the TR. The remote driver feels like be present physically and socially at the location where the TR is moving around. TR have been used in education at all levels. Various communities of stakeholders such as teachers, students, administrators, and support staff are involved in the introduction and adoption of TR in education. In order to effectively integrate TR in education, the views and perspectives of different stakeholders should be taken into account. For this reason, the partners of an Erasmus+ project "TRinE: Telepresence Robots in Education" conducted 13 focus groups discussions across five countries (Austria, Germany, Greece, Iceland, and Malta). A total of 77 persons in schools and universities gave their perspectives regarding TR in education. Each focus group lasted for about 90 minutes. Initially, the participants provided their demographics and their consent to be videorecorded. Then the moderator guided and stimulated the discussions through a series of 25 questions. Participants pointed out mainly the mobility as a strength of TR; the improved remote access, participation, and sense of presence as opportunities for TR in education; the lack of kinesthetics as a weakness of TR; the lack of WiFi everywhere and participants’ consent as challenges of TR in education. Then, they made several recommendations such as equip TR with hand-like actuators and sensors for kinesthetics. The results of this study could inform the development of educational policies about the use of TR in education; the required infrastructure in educational institutes; the various educational options for integrating TR in the teaching practice; the required functionalities of TR for successful users’ acceptance, and more.199369944EDULEARN22 Proceeding
