Escrituras del exilio. El problema de la escritura en José Ortega y Gasset, María Zambrano y José Bergamín

    No full text

The relationship between employee propensity to innovate and their decision to create a company

    No full text
Purpose – The main objective of this paper is to analyze the relationship between employees’ propensity to innovate and cultivate entrepreneurial aspirations whilst working within an organization. This paper aims to contribute to a better understanding of this interrelation, reflecting from a theoretical point of view on the factors that influence innovative propensity and entrepreneurial intention of the paid employee working in a public sector organization and studying the role played by the opportunity cost. Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire survey was used to collect data from 149 employees working for a public organization. In order to verify the hypotheses proffered, two multiple regression analyses were undertaken. Findings – The authors provide evidence that an understanding of the capacity that some employees have towards innovation offers an added tier of information and affords meaningful results. Their findings suggest that there is a positive impact of innovative propensity on entrepreneurial intention, and that it is stronger when combined with lower opportunity cost. Research limitations/implications – The study contributes to the field of entrepreneurship being informative for researchers interested in the antecedents of entrepreneurial intention and can also be utilized to further research in the field of human resource management and retention practices within organizations. Originality/value – This study contributes to the growing empirical literature on entrepreneurial intention from a perspective that has been hitherto largely overlooked: the employee’s perspective

Gender inclusion in Library and Information Science curricula

    No full text
This paper examines the incorporation of gender perspectives and sexual diversity into Library and Information Science (LIS) curricula, from a global perspective,  addressing the broader themes of social justice, equity, and inclusion in education. Drawing on critical and feminist pedagogical theories, this study challenges conventional educational models and advocates for a more transformative learning experience. A  content analysis of course syllabi from 50 top-ranked universities in the field, focusing on how gender and sexual diversity are introduced in course objectives, content, evaluation methods, teaching strategies and learning resources. The results reveal that while some progress has been made, mandatory courses addressing diversity, particularly in the areas of gender and sexual orientation, remain limited in LIS programs. Successful courses, identified in our research, emphasized intersectionality, student-led learning, and the critical examination of power structures within information systems. Despite growing awareness, gaps in the curriculum highlight the need for a more systemic integration of feminist and queer perspectives to foster inclusive educational environments. The findings suggest that LIS educators must continually revise and update curricula to reflect the diversity of their student bodies, incorporating reflective practices and promoting equitable access to knowledge. The implications for LIS educators emphasize the need for proactive efforts in integrating gender and diversity themes to prepare future professionals for addressing systemic inequalities. In conclusion, enhancing overall teaching quality through the integration of gender and diversity themes is crucial for preparing future professionals to address systemic inequalities.

Vulnerability of marine megafauna to global at-sea anthropogenic threats

    No full text
Marine megafauna are impacted by a wide range of anthropogenic threats, but evaluating risk is dependent on the vulnerability of each species to each threat. We used an expert elicitation approach to build on the existing threats classification scheme and ranking system from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species and assess the vulnerability of 256 marine megafauna species to 23 at-sea threats across ‘climate change’, ‘coastal impacts’, ‘fishing’, and ‘maritime disturbances’. We used a finer resolutionof threats, specifically including individual fishing gear types and climaterelated threats. Experts rated 70 species as having high vulnerability (v > 0.778 out of 1) to at least one threat (primarily drifting longliners, temperature extremes, and fixed gear – also rated as causing the highest severity, i.e., the most severe population declines). Overall, temperature extremes and plastics & other solid waste were rated as affecting the largest proportion of populations, i.e., having the largest scope. Temperature extremes was the single threat causing the highest vulnerability for penguins, pinnipeds, and polar bear. Highest vulnerabilities were rated for bony fishes to drifting longliners and plastics & other solid waste; pelagic cetaceans to four ‘maritime disturbances’ threats, elasmobranchs to five ‘fishing’ threats; and flying birds to drifting longliners and two ‘maritime disturbances’ threats. Sirenians and turtles received the highest vulnerability to at least one threat from all four categories. Despite not necessarily causing high severity for most taxa, temperature extremes were rated among the top threats for all taxa groups except bony fishes, . Our vulnerability scores, derived from expert feedback, provide an important first step to estimate the risk of threats to marine megafauna. Importantly, they assist differentiating scope from severity, which is key to identify threats that should be prioritized for conservation management

Intrasalt carbonates in the Estopanyà Salt Wall (South-Central Pyrenees): reservoir quality and implications for geothermal exploration in salt diapirs

    No full text
Stringers are disrupted rock bodies commonly enclosed within salt diapirs. Traditionally, they have been regarded as a risk factor in the energy exploitation of salt structures due to their heterogeneity and general sub-seismic scale, which hinder their detailed identification. Nevertheless, rock units in stringers may exhibit sufficient permeability and temperature to act as potential reservoirs, for instance, in geothermal energy. Despite this possibility, studies regarding the reservoir potential of intrasalt stringers remain scarce. The well-exposed Estopanyà Salt Wall in the South-Central Pyrenees contains abundant Muschelkalk carbonate stringers, providing an excellent opportunity to study the geological controls on their reservoir properties. Four lithofacies within two stratigraphic intervals were identified. Depositional lithofacies (DLF-1 and DLF-2) preserve original rock textures, whereas alteration lithofacies (ALF-1 and ALF-2) result from intense brecciation, cementation, and dolomitization-dedolomitization affecting the depositional facies. Thermophysical analyses of 30 samples reveal limited variation in mineral density (2.61–3.00 g cm−3), bulk density (1.92–2.95 g cm−3), and thermal conductivity (2.37–3.48 W m−1 K−1), with the latter being primary controlled by rock mineralogy. In contrast, connected porosity (0.33–29.20 %), permeability (−18–10−14 m2), P-wave velocity (3.7–6.4 km s−1 dry; 3.7–6.5 km s−1 saturated conditions), and specific heat capacity (640–804 J kg−1 K−1) show greater variability. Property cross-plots indicate that porosity percentage and distribution are the main factors controlling the observed thermophysical behavior, which is ultimately linked to rock texture. The area and scarce thickness of porous and permeable intervals (estimated at reservoir volumes of 0.14–4.6 km3), likely preclude the limited reservoir use of the studied stringers. However, petrographic evidence from them highlights interesting processes such as brecciation and dolomitization that may have enhanced the permeability and thermal conductivity in the past, while subsequent cementation and dedolomitization reduced reservoir quality. Accordingly, although current outcrop conditions show diminished reservoir potential, higher porosity-permeability values may be preserved in the subsurface.Overall, this study establishes a conceptual model for the geological controls, limitations, and potential of intrasalt carbonates as unconventional reservoirs, providing comprehensive petrological and thermophysical data that can guide their exploration for geothermal production in salt diapir settings

    No full text

The role of religion in the rise of the Hungarian far-right: an analysis of Viktor Orbán's Government (2010 - 2025)

    No full text
The present study examines the political instrumentalization of Christianity within the context of right-wing populism in contemporary Hungary. Drawing upon the theoretical framework of Mudde and Kaltwasser regarding populist ideology, and DeHanas on the religious dimension of national identity, the research employs a qualitative methodology of a historical nature, complemented by an analysis of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s speeches. The study traces the evolution of the role of the Church and Christian symbolism in the formation of the Hungarian State, analyzing how Viktor Orbán's government reactivated these elements in its discourse. It is argued that religion operates as a component of nativism and 'civilizational identity,' functioning as a symbolic barrier that defines the boundaries of the political community and becoming a structural element in Orbán’s rhetoric. The results demonstrate that Fidesz has converted Christianity into an instrument of exclusion and legitimation, essential for the maintenance of power and for the construction of a conservative cultural hegemony in post-2010 HungaryO presente trabalho examina a instrumentalização política do cristianismo no contexto do populismo de direita na Hungria contemporânea.
