Adölesan voleybol oyuncularının beslenme bilgi düzeyleri, beslenme durumları ile sıvı tüketimlerine beslenme eğitiminin etkisi
Bu çalışma, adölesan voleybol oyuncularının beslenme bilgi düzeyleri, beslenme durumları ile sıvı tüketimlerine beslenme eğitiminin etkisinin saptanması amacıyla planlanmıştır. Araştırma, Türkiye Voleybol Federasyonu bünyesindeki TVF Proje takımında oynayan yaşları 15-17 arası olan 13 erkek profesyonel voleybol oyuncusu ile yapılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında çalışmaya katılan adölesan sporculara 4 hafta boyunca haftada bir saat, sağlıklı beslenme ve sporcu beslenmesi konularında eğitim verilmiştir. Eğitimlerden önce çalışmaya katılan adölesan sporculardan genel bilgi alınmıştır. Sporculara eğitim öncesinde ve sonrasında besin tüketim sıklığı ve beslenme bilgi düzeyi formu ile 2 günlük fiziksel aktivite kayıt formu uygulanmıştır. Aynı şekilde eğitim öncesi ve sonrası olmak üzere voleybolcuların vücut ağırlığı ve boy uzunlukları ölçülmüştür. Ayrıca voleybolcuların vücut yağ yüzdeleri, vücut yağ kütleleri, yağsız doku kütleleri ve vücut sıvı kütleleri biyoelektirik impedans cihazı ile ölçülmüştür. Çalışmaya katılan voleybolcuların yaş ortalamaları 16.4±0.77 yıldır. Sporcuların profesyonel olarak voleybol oynama süreleri ortalama 5±3.54 yıldır. Voleybolcuların eğitim öncesi ortalama (Beden Kütle İndeksi) BKİ’leri 21.8±1.70 kg/m2 iken, eğitim sonrası 22.8±1.85 kg/m2 olarak değişmiştir (p0.05). Sporcuların eğitim öncesi ortalama yağsız doku kütleleri 70.4±5.19 kg iken, eğitim sonrası 71.2±5.63 kg olarak değişmiştir (p>0.05). Voleybolcuların ortalama günlük total enerji gereksinimleri Harris-Benedict denklemine göre 3108.2±240.7 kkal, Schofield denklemine göre 3188.4±257.10 kkal olarak bulunmuştur. Voleybolcuların eğitim öncesi karbonhidratlardan gelen enerji yüzdeleri ortalama %47±6.59 iken eğitim sonrası %42.2±5.04 olarak bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Sporcuların eğitim öncesi ortalama protein alımları 108.1±41.08 g iken eğitim sonrası 136.1±29.73 g olarak saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Voleybolcuların enerjinin proteinden gelen oranlarının ortalaması eğitim öncesi %15.3±3.64 iken, eğitim sonrası %18.8±2.37 olarak belirlenmiştir (p<0.05). Sporcuların eğitim öncesi ortalama sükroz alımları 76.0±50.86 g iken eğitim sonrası 52.6±33.32 g’a azalmıştır (p<0.05). Eğitim öncesi fruktoz alımları da 21.2±13.89 g iken eğitim sonrası 12.9±6.29 g olarak belirlenmiştir (p<0.05). Eğitim sonrası ortalama B2, niasin ve B12 vitamini alımları artmıştır (p<0.05). Voleybolcuların süt ve süt ürünleri grubundan tükettikleri besinlerin ortalama miktarları eğitim öncesi 522.6±409.18 g iken eğitim sonrası 861.0±356.25 g olarak belirlenmiştir (p<0.05). Sporcuların et, balık, tavuk ve kurubaklagil grubundan tükettikleri besinlerin ortalama miktarları eğitim öncesi 155.0±75.06 g iken eğitim sonrası 202.3±53.11 g olarak artmıştır (p<0.05). Sporcuların ortalama su tüketimleri eğitim öncesi 1769.0±897.23 ml iken eğitim sonrası 2369.2±534.58 ml olarak artmıştır (p<0.05). Voleybolcuların beslenme bilgi düzeyi sorularına verdikleri doğru cevap sayısı eğitim öncesi 8.2±2.16 iken, eğitim sonrası 12.6±2.17’dir (p<0.05). Sonuç olarak 4 hafta boyunca haftada bir saat verilen beslenme eğitimi, adölesan voleybol oyuncularının beslenme bilgi düzeylerini anlamlı şekilde artırmış, besin tüketimlerinin olumlu yönde değişmesini sağlamıştır.
This study was planned to determine the effect of nutrition education program on nutrition knowledge, nutrition status and fluid intake of adolescent volleyball players. Research was conducted with 13 male professional volleyball players aged between 15 and 17, who were participant of TVF Project team in Turkish Volleyball Federation. Within the scope of the research, nutrition education including healthy diet and sport nutrition subjects, is provided to adolescent volleyball players for 1 hour per week along 4 weeks as an intervention. Before the intervention, general information related to the participants was collected. Before and after the intervention, food consumption frequency questionnaire, nutrition knowledge assessment and two-day physical activity form were applied by the researcher. Volleyball players’ body weight and height ware measured. In the same way, body fat percentage, body fat mass, fat free mass and body water mass of the adolescent volleyball players were measured with bioelectrical impedance device. Mean age of the volleyball players was 16.46±0.776 years. As professionals, the players had been playing volleyball for 5±3.54 years in average. While the players’ mean BMI was 21.8±1.70 kg/m2, after the intervention, it changed to 22.8±1.85 kg/m2 (p0.05). While mean fat free mass of the players was 70.4±5.19 kg, it changed to 71.2±5.63 kg after the intervention. According to Harris-Benedict equation, mean energy requirement of the players was 3108.2±240.7 kcal and according to Schofield equation, it was 3188.4±257.10 kcal. It was found that the players’ mean percentage of energy arising from carbohydrates was %47±6.59 before the intervention and that it was %42.2±5.04 after the intervention (p<0.05).It was detected that the mean protein intake of the players was 108.1±41.08 g before the intervention and that it was 136.1±29.73 g (p<0.05) after the intervention. While the players’ mean percentage of energy arising from protein was %15.3±3.64, it was determined that it was %18.8±2.37 after intervention (p<0.05). It was designated that the players mean sucrose intake was 76.0±50.86 g before the intervention, and that it decreased to 52.6±33.32 g after the intervention (p<0.05). It was determined that the players’ fructose intake was 21.2±13.89 g before the intervention, and it was 12.9±6.29 g after the intervention (p<0.05). While average niacin, B12, and B2 intake of the volleyball players increased when compared to before intervention (p<0.05). Average amount of dairy products that the volleyball players consumed was 522.6±409.18 g before the intervention and it increased to 861.0±356.25 g (p<0.05). It was designated that average amount of consumed nutrition from meat, fish, chicken and legume groups was 155.0±75.06 g before the intervention and it was 202.3±53.11 g after the intervention (p<0.05). While the average water intake of the players was 1769.0±897.23 ml before the intervention, it increased to 12.6±2.17 (p<0.05). As a result, providing 4-week nutrition education for one hour per week significantly increased nutrition knowledge of the adolescent volleyball players and it led dietary intake of the players to change in a positive way
Stratejik insan kaynakları uygulamalarından hizmet içi eğitim faaliyetlerinin işgücü devir oranına etkisi: sağlık sektöründe bir vaka araştırması
Stratejik insan kaynakları yönetimi uygulamalarından hizmet içi eğitim faaliyetlerinin örgütsel bağlılık aracılığı ile işgücü devir oranını azaltıcı etkisi olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu düşünceden hareketle, bu çalışmada örgütlerde uygulanan hizmet içi eğitim faaliyetlerinin işgücü devir oranına etkisi üzerinde odaklanılmıştır. Birinci ve ikinci bölümde hizmet içi eğitim ve işgücü devir oranı terimleri ve aralarındaki ilişki kavramsal olarak açıklanmıştır. Çalışmanın üçüncü bölümünde sağlık sektöründe bir vaka araştırmasına yer verilmiş ve yine aynı bölümdü elde edilen veriler değerlendirilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın metodolojisi olarak veri analizi ve yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada öncelikle ilgili kuruluşa ait çalışan hareketliliği ve hizmet içi eğitim faaliyetlerine yönelik veriler elde edilmiş ve analizi yapılmıştır. Daha sonra hizmet içi eğitim faaliyetleri ile işgücü devir oranı arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek amacıyla kuruluşun Personel Müdürü ve Eğitim Birimi Sorumlusu ile 4 temel soru üzerinde gerçekleştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat sonuçları değerlendirilmiştir. Son bölümde ise araştırmanın sonuçlarına yer verilmiştir. Uygulanan vaka araştırmasına bağlı olarak hizmet içi eğitim faaliyeti ile işgücü devir oranı arasında bir ilişki tespit edilememiştir.
In-service training activities from Strategic Human Resources Management (SHRM) practices are thought to be the effect of reducing the labor turnover rate through organizational commitment. From this point forth, the study will focus on the impact of in-service training activities on organizations' workforce turnover rate. The terms in-service training and labor turnover rate and the relationship between them are conceptually explained in the first and second sections,. In the third section, a case study is included in the health sector and the data obtained from the same department are evaluated. Data analysis and semi-structured interview method are used as the methodology. Firstly the data related to employee mobility and in-service training activities of the related organization are obtained and analyzed. In order to determine the relationship between the in-service training activities and the labor turnover rate, the results of the semi-structured interviews on the four basic questions are evaluated by the Personnel Manager and the Education Unit Officer of the organization. In the final part, the results of the research are included. It concludes that, there is no relationship between the in-service training activity and the labor turnover rate
Pelvik kemik yapılarının bölütlenmesi ve pelvik açılarının otomatik ölçümü
Pelvik kemik yapısı, iskelet sistemimizin temelini oluşturur ve bu yapının radyolojik ve
ortopedik olarak doğru değerlendirilmesi büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu yapının
değerlendirilmesinde ve Pelvik kemik hastalıklarının tanı ve tedavi sürecinde bazı
Asetabulum açılarından yararlanılır.
Bu çalışmada, hem Pelvik kemik yapısı ile ilgili yeni bir tıbbi açı ölçüm metodu
tanımlanmış, hem de bu yeni geliştirilen tıbbi metodun teknik gösterimi olarak
tamamen otomatik olarak çalışan yeni bir açı ölçüm metodu geliştirilmiştir. Bu
otomatik açı ölçüm metodu, Pelvik kemik yapılarının bölütlenmesi ve Pelvik açılarının
otomatik ölçümü olarak iki kısımdan oluşmaktadır. Pelvik kemik yapılarının
bölütlenmesi için İşaretçi tabanlı Watershed bölütleme metodu ve Zernike moment
şekil tanımlayıcı metodlarının birlikte kullanılması ile Obturator gözlerinin tamamen
otomatik olarak bölütlenmesi sağlanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın ikinci kısmını ise
Asetabular açılarının tam otomatik olarak ölçümü oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada
Asetabular açılarının, sağlıklı hastalar için normal tıbbi açı ölçüm değerleri, hem
uzmanların elle ölçüm metodu hem de geliştirilen yeni otomatik açı ölçüm metodu
için ayrı ayrı bulunmuştur. Aynı zamanda, erişkinlerde ve çocuklarda kalça çıkığı
hastalıkları olan hastalar için her iki açı ölçüm metodu kullanılarak açı ölçüm
sonuçları elde edilmiştir.
Önerilen açı ölçüm metodunun ilk kısmını oluşturan Obturator gözlerinin bölütlemesi
metodu 100 görüntü üzerinde denenmiş ve bölütleme başarım doğruluk yüzdesi %96
olarak elde edilmiştir. Ayrıca, otomatik açı ölçüm metodunun değerlendirilmesinde,
uzmanların elle yaptıkları ölçüm sonuçları ve otomatik açı ölçüm metodu sonuçları
arasında istatistiksel olarak her ölçüm sonucu için p >0.005 değeri elde edilmiştir.Dolayısıyla, uzmanların ölçümleri ve otomatik açı ölçüm metodunun sonuçları
arasında anlamlı bir farklılık görülmemiştir. Bu çalışmanın sonucunda, farklı Pelvik
kemik hastalıklarının uzmanlar tarafından doğru değerlendirilmesi için klinik ortamda
kullanılabilir, tam otomatik olarak çalışan yeni bir tıbbi açı ölçüm metodu
geliştirilmiştir.
Pelvic bone structure is the fundamental part of our skeletal system and the accuracy
of radiological and orthopaedical evaluation of this system is very important.
Asetabulum angles are used for the evaluation of this structure and the diagnosing
and treatment phases of Pelvic bone diseases.
In this study, both a new medical angle measurement method is defined and a new
fully automated angle measurement method for this medical method is developed.
This automated method consists of two parts as the segmentation of Pelvic bone
structure and the automated measurement for Pelvic angles. The fully automated
segmentation method for Obturator Foramen is developed with the integrated usage
of the Marker-based Watershed segmentation method and Zernike moment feature
descriptor for Pelvic bone structure segmentation. The second part of this study is
the automated measurement of the Asetabulum angles. In this study, the Asetabulum
angles are measured both with the traditional method by clinicians and by the
automated method for the healty patients and then the normal medical
measurements are extracted separately. Also, the angle measurement results are
obtained by using two angle measurement methods for patients which have hip
dysplasia for adults and children
The first part of the proposed angle measurement method which is the segmentation
of Obturator foramen is tested on 100 Pelvic X-ray image and the segmentation
accuracy is obtained %96. Also, the evaluation of the automated angle measurement
method is performed by statistically and p >0.005 value is obtained between the
manual angle measurements and the results of the automated angle measurement
method for each angle measurement. Therefore, there isn’t any significant difference between the manual angle measurements and the automated angle measurement
method. As a result of this study, a new fully automated angle measurement method
is developed for accurate diagnosing and treatment of different Pelvic bone diseases
by clinicians
Effects of vaginal cylinder position on dose distribution in patients with endometrial carcinoma in treatment of vaginal cuff brachytherapy
Purpose: To investigate the impact of different cylinder positions on dosimetry of critical structures in patients with endometrial carcinoma undergoing three-dimensional image-based vaginal cuff brachytherapy (VCB).
Material and methods: We delivered VCB at a dose of 4 Gy to a depth of 5 mm in the vaginal cuff of 15 patients using three different cylinder positions (neutral [N], parallel [P], and angled [A]) according to the longitudinal axis of the patient. We analyzed the dose-volume distribution and volumetric variability of the rectum and bladder. We converted the total doses to equivalent doses in 2 Gy (EQD(2)) using a linear-quadratic model (a/b = 3 Gy).
Results: The mean rectum volume for the N, P, and A positions was 68.2 +/- 22.7 cc, 79.3 +/- 33.7 cc, and 74.2 +/- 29.6 cc, respectively. The mean rectum volume for the P position was significantly larger than that for the N position (p = 0.03). Relative to the N position, the A position resulted in a lower total EQD(2) in the highest irradiated 2 cc (D-2cc; p = 0.001), 1 cc (D-1cc; p = 0.004), and 0.1 cc (D-0.1cc; p = 0.047) of the rectum. Similarly, the P position resulted in a lower EQD(2) in the D-2cc (p = 0.018) and D-1cc (p = 0.024) of the rectum relative to the N position. In the bladder, the P position resulted in a higher EQD(2) in the D-2cc, relative to the N position (p = 0.02). There was no dosimetric difference between the P and A positions in either the rectum or the bladder.
Conclusions: Vaginal cuff brachytherapy in the P and A positions is significantly superior to that in the N position in terms of rectum dosimetry. The bladder dose in the N position is considerably lower than that in the other positions

We consider two f(R)-gravity models and obtain finite-period cyclic flows oscillating between the event and cosmological horizons as well as semi-cyclic critical flows executing a two-way motion from and back to the same horizon. Hyperglycemia in Hospital: Diagnosis, Classification, Clinical Implications and Treatment
Hyperglycemia is a well-recognized risk factor for hospital-related complications, prolonged stay in the hospital and even mortality. The patients with in-hospital hyperglycemia may be categorized into three groups: i) Patients who have been diagnosed as having diabetes mellitus (DM) before admission; ii) Patients with newly diagnosed DM; and iii) Patients with stress hyperglycemia. The release of stress hormones, such as cortisol, catecholamines, glucagon, growth hormone and the related acceleration in gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis, medications used for the treatment of primary diseases, such as glucocorticoids and vasopressors, are all claimed to be responsible for the development of in-hospital hyperglycemia. Glucose normalization with insulin therapy has been demonstrated to significantly decrease the morbidity and mortality in all the three groups. Therefore, it is recommended to monitor blood glucose levels for all hospitalized patients irrespective of the accompanying DM diagnosis
Enhancer of zeste homologue 2 (EZH2) expression in synovial sarcomas as a promising indicator of prognosis
Synovial sarcoma (SS) is a type of soft-tissue sarcoma, often linked to poor survival. Although overexpression of enhancer of zeste homologue 2 (EZH2) has been associated with poor prognosis in different tumors, a few studies investigated this link in SS. Here, we analyzed the relationship between EZH2 expression and prognostic factors in SS. We included 29 patients with SS. Immunostaining of EZH2 was performed with (D2C9) XP (TM) Rabbit mAb antibody, and the results were classified as low EZH2 expression (negative or weak expression) and high EZH2 expression category (moderate or strong expression). Analysis of survival in relation to prognostic factors was performed with Kaplan-Meier survival curves and Cox proportional hazard regression analysis. Our sample included 19/29 female and 10/29 male patients, with age range 16-63 years. The tumor diameter ranged from 2 to 15 cm. Necrosis was observed in 15/29 cases. Sixteen cases had > 10 mitoses per 50 high-power fields (HPFs). Out of 29 cases, 14 showed low and 15 had high EZH(2) expression. Statistically significant results were obtained for the association between the presence of metastasis and necrosis (p = 0.042), high EZH2 expression and distant metastasis (p = 0.018), high EZH2 expression and necrosis (p = 0.016), and high EZH2 expression and the tumor size > 5 cm versus tumor size <= 5 cm (p = 0.014). Patients with all of the following: the tumor size <= 5 cm, low EZH2 expression, and without necrosis and distant metastasis had significantly longer survival time. Our results are consistent with previous studies, suggesting that EZH(2) overexpression is an indicator of poor prognosis in SS
Effects of platelet-rich fibrin on healing of intra-bony defects treated with anorganic bovine bone mineral
Anorganic bovine bone mineral (ABBM) is extensively used in the treatment of intra-bony defects. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a new-generation platelet concentrate with a simplified technique. Although certain studies have reported the use of PRF in the treatment of intra-bony defects, to date, none of them have evaluated its additive effects with ABBM. Therefore, a randomised, split-mouth clinical trial was conducted to compare healing of intra-bony defects treated with an ABBM-PRF combination with healing of those treated with ABBM alone. By using a split-mouth design, 15 paired intra-bony defects were randomly treated with either ABBM alone (control group) or ABBM-PRF combination (test group). Following clinical parameters and radiographical measurements were recorded at baseline and 6 months after treatment: plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), probing depth (PD), gingival recession (GR), clinical attachment level (CAL), vertical bone loss, depth of defect and defect angle. Preoperative clinical and radiographical measurements were similar for the test and control groups. Statistically significant reductions in GI, PD, CAL, vertical bone loss, depth of intra-bony defect and widening of defect angle were detected after treatment in both groups. With respect to inter-group analysis, gain in CAL was significantly greater in the test group than in the control group, whereas no inter-group differences were observed in any other parameter. The results of this study indicate that both therapies are effective in the treatment of intra-bony defects
Herpes Zoster Brachial Plexopathy: Direct Steroid Injection
Herpes zoster (shingles) is a viral disease, characterized by painful skin eruptions and neuropathic sensory symptoms. Motor involvement and brachial plexus involvement in herpes zoster are rare conditions. Together with antiviral medication and pain therapy, palliative and supportive modalities take an important role in the treatment of herpes zoster. It is well documented in previous reports that oral or intravenous steroid administrations may be additive in management. In this case report, positive effects of direct steroid injection onto the brachial plexus via ultrasonography guidance in a patient with motor weakness due to herpes zoster involvement of brachial plexus is presented
Schistosomiasis and pulmonary hypertension
Schistosomiasis is one of the most prevelant parazitic diseases in the world. It is endemic in more than 70 countries, and more than 200 million people worldwide are infected with Schistosoma. Pulmonary hypertension (PHT) is one of the chronic complications of schistosomiasis. The exact pathogenesis of schistosomiasisassociated pulmonary hypertension (S-PHT) remains unclear, although several mechanisms such as parazitic arterial embolisation, pulmonary arteriopathy, and portopulmonary hypertension have been suggested. Pathological pulmonary vascular changes in S-PHT were found similar to those in idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH). The fact that schistosomiasis is one of the most common causes of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), particularly in the developing countries, underlines the importance of enhancing our knowledge on this disease. Developments in the treatment of PAH have resulted in improved prognosis and significant increase in life expectancy and quality of life in the last two decades, which has enhanced the importance of S-PHT. Schistosomiasis is treated with praziquantel. Nevertheless, there is limited evidence that this treatment is effective for PHT. Although antihelmintic medications do not lead to significant improvement, they have beneficial effects and may slow down disease progression. Using PAH-specific treatments in the patients with schistosomiasis-associated PAH (S-PAH) can improve prognosis. However, inadequate clinical studies and limited sources in the endemic regions restrict extensive usage of these expensive medications. Further studies are required to determine the efficacy of these treatment modalities
