No full textNo ano letivo de 2013/14, seguindo um projeto ousado da Escola de Direito, tiveram início as aulas do Mestrado em Direito das Crianças, Família e Sucessões, da Escola de Direito da Universidade do Minho, que comemorou, por isso, no ano letivo de 2023/24, dez anos de existência. De modo a assinalar este marco temporal, e como forma de celebração, promove-se a publicação de uma obra coletiva com estudos vários de alguns dos estudantes que elegeram este mestrado para aprofundar os seus conhecimentos nestas áreas.In the 2013/14 academic year, following an ambitious initiative by the School of Law, the University of Minho launched its Master’s program in Child, Family, and Succession Law. Consequently, in the 2023/24 academic year, this program celebrated its tenth anniversary. To mark this milestone and as a means of celebration, a collective volume featuring diverse studies by several students who chose this program to deepen their expertise in these fields is now being published.
All texts in this collection are authored by graduates holding a Master’s in Child, Family, and Succession Law from the University of Minho’s School of Law. They reflect both the scientific rigor and genuine interest of the authors in these areas. This publication is therefore dedicated to all students with a particular affinity for these sensitive and critically important fields and who devote their research and work to them. We hope that this work will be useful for both practitioners and academics and, furthermore, that it will inspire more students to pursue studies in family and succession law.
With the exception of some formal guidelines and requirements for standardization, each author’s choices and style have been respected
Science Sights
No full textScience Sights aims to make it possible for a certain (scientific) gaze to hover and land in natural spaces, transfiguring and revealing them as a source of multidisciplinary knowledge and learning. In this sense, city itineraries (Braga), mountain routes (Sameiro, Arga and da Estrela) and along the coastline (Litoral de Esposende and Amorosa) are proposed, so that Nature reveals itself to the different Sciences, in angles, sometimes (almost) geometrically equal, sometimes complementary.
Not being initially aware that we were treading “humboldtian” terrain, in fact we were only following, at our scale, the path opened by Alexander Von Humboldt (1769-1859), German scientist, polymath, naturalist and environmentalist. In his enormous appreciation for the paradox of Nature's diversity and uniqueness, either because of the affinity with the volcanoes he knew, or because of the similarities and differences of fauna and flora, throughout his very long journey he undertook, treading Humboldt's paths is persisting in facing Nature as a result of an interrelationship of phenomena, all painted, as he said, with a “wide brush”, incessantly seeking the true “painting of nature”, his Naturgemäld.
It is common sense that some of the Sciences, due to their more naturalistic character, have an appetite, one would say visceral, to take the field as their laboratory. But, for sure, the emanation of scientific knowledge sprouts from the magma of natural phenomena, which are the sum and substance of them all. In fact, all physics-chemistry-mathematics-geologies-biologies are in the breeze-sea-river-mountain-plant-street-church-glacier.
It all starts with the ability to get amazed by the observation and, little by little, we learn how to open doors to the stone and to the drop of water and to the flower, asking them to let us in into their intimacy. Afterwards, aware of some of these intimacies, as if the world is going through a metamorphosis.
It is our wish that the testimony we put forward in these pages can be evidence that it is possible to design multidisciplinary field trips, to build a repository of topics to be addressed in these outdoor activities and to demonstrate that we can see as long as we know how to observe!
The itineraries proposed for these field trips were selected due to the easy access to each of the points of interest, providing privileged spaces for observation and integration of multidisciplinary knowledge. These are not closed routes, as the visitor finds multiple opportunities to pursue his curiosity.
The chapters referring to the coastline of Esposende and Amorosa, Serra de Arga and Serra da Estrela, as they were part of a Field Guide written within the scope of the “Projecto Sentidos da Ciência” of the School of Sciences, University of Minho, were revised and expanded.
In this book routes are suggested, with stops and respective geographic coordinates (obtained by GPS, in WGS84), and for each one of them several activities and observations are proposed. Each chapter starts with a summary of the topics to be addressed in the visit, followed by a detailed presentation of the itinerary, in which the topics presented are further explored, using, for example, some theoretical notes that allow explaining the phenomena under observation, and even, sometimes, some suggestions for simple experiments that can be carried out in the field.
To complete and for better interpretation of the information provided, a list of recommended bibliography is included, as well as a glossary that will allow the understanding of language and scientific and technical terms used throughout this fieldguide, and also a Geological Time Scale.
As an Appendix, there is a list of support materials to assist the guides of field trips (teachers, tour guides, among others), whose scientific-pedagogical approach is intended to be unitary and multiple!Ciências com Vistas, também se pode ler Visitas com Ciência, pretende tornar possível que um certo (científico) olhar paire e aterre em espaços naturais, transfigurando-os e, assim, revelando-os como fonte de conhecimentos e aprendizagens de cariz multidisciplinar. Based on a study carried out in 12 primary and secondary schools, within the scope of the bYou project, it examines the role of school media in fostering participation, self-expression, and critical engagement with both the media and the wider world. The book also offers a set of strategies to strengthen and diversify journalistic approaches in school media, alongside practical proposals and resources to support their development. School media are presented as laboratories of citizenship, capable of contributing to a more democratic, inclusive school environment that is better equipped to face the challenges of the digital age.Este livro parte do reconhecimento dos meios de comunicação escolares como espaços privilegiados para dar voz a crianças e jovens e promover a literacia mediática em contexto educativo. Com base num estudo desenvolvido em 12 escolas do ensino básico e secundário, no âmbito do projeto bYou, analisa-se o papel destes meios na promoção da participação, da expressão e da aprendizagem crítica sobre os media e sobre o mundo. A obra reúne ainda um conjunto de estratégias para fomentar e diversificar a abordagem jornalística nos media escolares, bem como diversas propostas e recursos para a sua dinamização. Identidade e Diferença: XII Simpósio Luso-Galaico de Filosofia
No full textAo longo das suas sucessivas edições – alternadamente, na Galiza e no Minho – os Simpósios têm proporcionado aos participantes um ambiente propício à partilha e discussão da sua pesquisa filosófica, no quadro de um horizonte plural e amplo, mas ao mesmo tempo enraizado em tradições diversas. Todos os Simpósios foram subordinados a um tema específico, tendo-se alternado entre a escolha de temas mais restritos, como por exemplo a questão da Europa ou da ecologia, e temas mais abertos e abrangentes, como “Desafios do Século XXI”. O tema escolhido para o XII Simpósio, “Identidade e Diferença”, enquadra-se, evidentemente, na última categoria. É um tema que perpassa a Filosofia ao longo da sua história, sobretudo na Metafísica, na Ontologia, bem como na Lógica, na Filosofia da Mente, na Hermenêutica e na Filosofia Política. Mas é um tema que não ocupa só a Filosofia. A reflexão sobre a identidade e a diferença é da maior importância no que concerne à compreensão da relação entre as culturas, as línguas e as literaturas, mormente nas suas intersecções e influências mútuas em regiões vizinhas, como é o caso da “nossa” eurorregião da Galiza e do Norte de Portugal. É neste sentido que o XII Simpósio Luso-Galaico de Filosofia abriu as suas portas para um diálogo transdisciplinar, como ficou patente nos textos recolhidos neste volume.The Luso-Galaic Symposium on Philosophy is a joint initiative of the University of Minho and the University of Santiago de Compostela, which began in 1999. Since then, eleven editions have taken place - alternating between Galicia and Minho - which have provided the participants with a suitable environment for sharing and discussing their philosophical research, within the framework of a plural and broad horizon, but at the same time rooted in diverse traditions. No less important is the fact that the Symposium has also allowed the participants to deepen and renew bonds of friendship, complicity and conviviality, which have cemented an authentic tradition, cherished by all those who make up this inter-regional philosophical community.The XII edition of the Symposium focuses on the theme "Identity and Difference", a theme that has permeated Philosophy throughout its history, especially Metaphysics, Ontology, as well as Logic, the Philosophy of Language and Political Philosophy. It continues to deserve considerable attention, for example, in the works of contemporary philosophers such as Ricoeur, Derrida, Deleuze or in philosophical reflection on gender issues (Benhabib, Butler, Fraser, etc.).On the other hand, the reflection on identity and difference is, in the same way, an aspect of the utmost importance for the articulation of thought on the relationship between the cultures, languages, literatures and philosophies of neighbouring regions, as is the case of the so-called euroregions of Galicia and Northern Portugal. As the vicissitudes occurred in other regions in Europe and outside Europe show, the respective configuration of identity traces and difference traces, in a neighbouring geographical space, often remains a challenge that demands ever renewed attention, particularly in the field of politics, since it contains in itself both a potential of enormous fruitfulness and also a potential for generating conflicts
