Ascenso a lo Bello. Platón el maestro y los Diálogos previos a la República desde el Protágoras al Banquete
No full text“The most important thing a student of Plato needs is a good sense of humor.” With this statement, William H. F. Altman begins Ascent to Beauty: Plato the Master and the Pre-Republic Dialogues from the Protagoras to the Symposium.
Although written last in the context of his pentalogy dedicated to Plato the Teacher and the reconstruction of the Reading Order of Plato\u27s Dialogues, it inaugurates the pedagogical curriculum of Plato\u27s elusive Academy, reorganizing the dialogues according to their educational value, based on two unquestionable truths about Plato: "that the founder of the Academy was a teacher" and "that Plato\u27s dialogues are eminently teachable" and, therefore, that Plato the Teacher taught his dialogues in his classes. Based on both, Plato bequeathed us the "eternal curriculum of the Academy," which helps us imagine it with greater clarity.Beginning with the theatrical Protagoras and reaching the summit of the mountain in the Symposium, the middle dialogues—Alcibiades Major, Alcibiades Minor, Rivals, Hippias Major, Hippias Minor, Ion, and Menexenus—introduce the student to philosophy, as an intermediary between ignorance and wisdom, and Platonism. Creating a useful “dialectical friction,” Altman reviews the most relevant bibliography on Platonic studies—beginning with Friedrich D. E. Schleiermacher, who originated the prevailing prejudice against works dedicated to beginners—with humor, erudition, and a rare clarity that invites us to read Plato not as a classical author, but as a living master.“Lo más importante que necesita un estudiante de Platón es un buen sentido del humor”. Aunque escrito en último lugar en el contexto de su pentalogía dedicada a Platón el maestro y la reconstrucción del Orden de Lectura de los Diálogos de Platón, inaugura el currículo pedagógico de la elusiva Academia platónica, reorganizando los diálogos en función de su valor educativo, partiendo de dos verdades incuestionables sobre Platón: “que el fundador de la Academia fue un maestro” y “que los diálogos de Platón son eminentemente enseñables” y, así pues, que Platón el maestro impartía sus diálogos en sus clases. No full textThis atlas-book, Sports Pathology, compiles images obtained using optical and electron microscopy, used to diagnose and understand the main injuries associated with sports activities. Using the optical microscope, we identify the types of injuries, and using the electron microscope, we delve deeper into their origin, evolution, and characteristics.
The study focuses on the tissues of the skeletal system: skeletal muscle, tendons, cartilage, and bone. It is organized into three stages: first, healthy tissues are shown as a reference, then the alterations, and finally, the treatment and recovery options.
Injuries are grouped into two broad categories: those caused by poisoning and those caused by trauma.
The book includes 532 photographs divided into 16 topics: 8 dedicated to muscles, 5 to tendons, 1 to cartilage, 1 to bone, and a special chapter on the use of stem cells in different treatments.
In the muscle tissue section, the differences between red and white fibers are highlighted, and lesions caused by endocrine disruptors, high-protein diets, trauma, edema, and atrophy are presented, along with preventive experiences and their respective treatments. For tendons, joints, and bones, normal tissues and the most common alterations are described.Este libro-atlas, –Patología del Deporte–, recoge imágenes obtenidas mediante microscopía óptica y electrónica, utilizadas para diagnosticar y comprender las principales lesiones asociadas a la actividad deportiva. Con el microscopio óptico identificamos los tipos de lesión y, con el electrónico, profundizamos en su origen, evolución y características. El estudio se centra en los tejidos del sistema esquelético: músculo esquelético, tendones, cartílago y hueso. Se organiza en tres etapas: primero se muestran tejidos sanos como referencia, luego las alteraciones y, por último, las opciones de tratamiento y recuperación. Las lesiones se agrupan en dos grandes categorías: las provocadas por intoxicaciones y las originadas por traumatismos. El libro incluye 532 fotografías distribuidas en 16 temas: 8 dedicados a músculos, 5 a tendones, 1 a cartílago, 1 a hueso y un capítulo especial sobre el uso de células madre en diferentes tratamientos. En el apartado de tejido muscular se destacan las diferencias entre fibras rojas y blancas, y se presentan lesiones causadas por disruptores endocrinos, dietas hiperproteicas, traumatismos, edemas y atrofias, junto con experiencias preventivas y sus respectivos tratamientos. The artist presents his latest creations, made for the UCOCultura exhibition hall. Twenty-three paintings, jewellery and an installation made with gravel. The artist warns of the risks of interventions carried out in favour of sustainability, as they often destroy ways of dialogue between man and the environment through subsistence agriculture, destroying vegetable gardens, farming methods, irrigation and rural life. No full textThis book was born out of a friendship that has lasted for over fifty years, and it is dedicated to that same friendship, which continues to await good news from a distance. In it, the author and the book\u27s intended recipient, Carlos Clementson Cerezo, share an age that enables them to view life through the lens of waiting, and to appreciate the beauty of memory, nostalgia and absence. Although this volume could have been written earlier, perhaps it was only now that the author was able to interweave friendship, emotion and literary doctrine with such maturity. The work has been reworked several times until everything fell into place, as if it were a skilfully woven message in the recovery of time. During this process, the author discovered the ideal space in which to write it, combining modern theory and criticism under the guidance of a reasoned tradition. Thus, using materials provided by the friend and professor, spaces are created — some idealised — where the heart can express itself freely and pay homage to the great poet lorquino-cordobés, whose expansive, Mediterranean words transport the listener to a primitive state characterised by austere melancholy and Córdoba philosophy. This book vindicates humanism in postmodernity — a constant search for the murmurs born in childhood, alongside the marine myth of Calabardina, and in the sonorous kingdom of the orchard of La Rueda. The sea, land and sky of the poet\u27s childhood are evoked here through the mature resignation of age as he reads the kind words written about him with emotion.Este libro nace de una amistad que se prolonga por más de cincuenta años y se dirige a esa misma amistad que, desde la distancia, sigue aguardando buenas noticias. En él, tanto su autor como su primer destinatario, Carlos Clementson Cerezo, comparten una edad que permite contemplar la vida desde la espera, en la belleza del recuerdo, la nostalgia y la ausencia. Aunque este volumen pudo haberse escrito antes, acaso no fue sino hasta ahora cuando su autor logró entrelazar con madurez amistad, emoción y doctrina literaria. Se trata de una obra reelaborada en distintas ocasiones, hasta que todo encajó, como si se tratase de un mensaje hábilmente hilvanado en la recuperación del tiempo.
