Costituzionalismo e presidenzialismo nel pensiero politico di Woodrow Wilson
No full textIn his work Constitutional Government in the United States, written at the beginning of the twentieth century, Woodrow Wilson defined the nature and duties of the President of the United States and his relationship with Congress and the Supreme Court. The structure of the American government, in his opinion, can be well understood only after having explicitly specified what is meant by constitutional government. Wilson played a key role in defining the federal structure and the constitutional tradition both with his political theories and as an eminent statesman. He therefore contributed to clarifying the processes of synthesis of American pluralism by identifying in the early years of his historical-political speculation the leadership of Congress and in the early twentieth century the presidential leadership, as centers of power of the American institutional system
Pelvic inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor in a patient with Wilson's disease and KBG syndrome: A case report
No full textIntroduction: Abdominal ultrasound (US) is frequently used in patients with Wilson disease (WD) to identify possible renal and hepatic involvement. KBG syndrome (KBGs) is a rare condition characterized by skeletal abnormalities and intellectual disability, which usually has no abdominal manifestations. Case presentation: A 12-year-old girl, affected by WD and KBGs, was referred to us due to a 51 × 34 mm cystic mass on the left ovary seen by abdominal US, initially interpreted as a left ovarian cyst. She underwent monthly follow-up US that showed a progressive increase in the size of the cyst. By the fourth month, the features had changed to a complex formation of the left ovary. Tumor markers, including CA125, AFP and BHCG, among others) were within normal limits. The patient was taken electively to the operating room for a laparoscopic resection of the suspected complex ovarian lesion. Intraoperatively we found a solid mass that connected on one side to the left parametrium and on the other side to a jejunal loop through what appeared to be a pseudo mesentery. The left ovary only had a simple cyst of approximately 3 cm in diameter. The right ovary and both Fallopian tubes were normal. We detached the mass from both connections using surgical staplers. She recovered well from the operation and was discharged home on the seventh postoperative day. The pathology analysis was consistent with an inflammatory myofibroblastic pseudotumor, and the margins were free of disease. At one year of follow-up with US and magnetic resonance imaging she has had no signs of recurrence. Conclusion: The preoperative evaluation of adnexal and pelvic masses in syndromic females should include cross-sectional imaging, as ultrasound may not provide sufficient anatomical detail

Systemic and Peritoneal Effects of Pneumoperitoneum in Pediatric Laparoscopy
No full textBackground: Laparoscopy is a standard procedure for both children and adults. However, the potential effects of CO2 insufflation on the peritoneum remain unclear. This multicenter study aimed to assess the plasma levels of inflammatory markers and examine tissue changes in children who underwent pneumoperitoneum (PN) and laparoscopic surgery. Methods: From 2021 to 2023, patients who were candidates for elective laparoscopic surgery were divided into two groups based on their duration of PN: ±1 h. Serum samples were collected preoperatively (T0) and 24 h postoperatively (T1). Tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin (IL)-6, IL-8, and regulated on activation, normal T cell expressed and secreted cytokine levels were quantified. Additionally, samples of the peritoneal serosa were obtained for double-blind histological evaluation at the beginning (T0) and end of the procedure (T1). The results are expressed as means ± standard deviations, and significance was set at P < 0.05. Results: The study included 47 children with a median age of 12 (group A, n = 30; B, n = 17). The chemokine values at T0 and T1 did not show significant variations in either group, except for IL-8, which significantly decreased from T0 to T1, especially in group B. A peritoneal histological study showed moderate focal hyperplasia of the mesothelium and the presence of a light inflammatory infiltrate in T1 versus T0. These peritoneal changes were more present in group B than in group A. Conclusion: PN significantly reduced IL-8 levels and induced minor histological changes in the peritoneum, primarily in group B. Laparoscopic surgery minimally affected the integrity and biology of the peritoneum, resulting in beneficial effects on the immune system

No full textIl libro propone una rilettura della figura di Pietro Fanfani, volta a valorizzare il suo ruolo nel panorama lessicografico e, in generale, linguistico, talora in passato marginalizzato. Attraverso un’analisi delle opere dell’autore, la ricerca offre alcuni elementi che dimostrano la centralità di Fanfani nella lessicografia a lui successiva e nella questione della lingua postunitaria; la sua eminenza negli studi linguistici fu così imponente da influenzare perfino i criteri del Tommaseo-Bellini. Il volume, quindi, riabilita anche il contributo di Fanfani al Vocabolario italiano della lingua parlata, i cui meriti innovativi sono da sempre stati attribuiti a Giuseppe Rigutini: anche in questo caso, sulla base di evidenze lessicografiche, si dimostra il debito di Rigutini nei confronti di Fanfani.
Un’ampia appendice di lettere e documenti inediti (provenienti dalla Biblioteca Marucelliana, dalla Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze e dall’Archivio della Crusca), infine, funge da supporto all’analisi linguistica e alla ricostruzione dei rapporti tra Pietro Fanfani, l’Accademia della Crusca e i ministri Broglio e Lambruschini

No full textIl volume propone un'analisi delle politiche per lo sviluppo nella regione Campania, tra passato, presente e nuove sfide. Frutto del lavoro realizzato dall'unità di ricerca dell'Università di Napoli Federico II nell'ambito di un più vasto progetto di ricerca nazionale, il testo esplora questo caso regionale come chiave di lettura delle difficoltà – ma anche delle potenzialità – che caratterizzano l'intervento pubblico nel Mezzogiorno, con specifico riferimento alla politica di coesione. In un contesto segnato da globalizzazione, crisi dello Stato e indebolimento della politica economica, in questo lavoro si analizzano le alterne vicende dell’intervento pubblico a sostegno dello sviluppo locale e sul fronte della convergenza Nord-Sud.
L’analisi si propone di approfondire le ragioni della persistente arretratezza socioeconomica del Sud Italia, con uno sguardo critico alle
strategie finora adottate per superare i divari territoriali. In particolare, lo studio si colloca all’interno di un più ampio dibattito teorico, che
ha visto nel tempo il passaggio da interpretazioni legate alla teoria della modernizzazione e all’approccio keynesiano all’adozione di modelli analitici più contestualizzati e attenti alle specificità dei differenti contesti territoriali.
Il testo evidenzia come le trasformazioni intervenute nei contesti politici, economici e sociali del Mezzogiorno impongano oggi una revisione delle categorie analitiche tradizionalmente impiegate per leggere la “Questione Meridionale”. A fronte di una narrazione spesso incentrata sull’inefficacia dell’intervento pubblico, i risultati della ricerca inducono a superare approcci semplicistici per individuare con maggiore precisione i fattori – esogeni ed endogeni – che hanno condizionato l’efficacia delle politiche di sviluppo. In tal senso, il volume offre un contributo alla riflessione sulle traiettorie future delle politiche regionali, suggerendo la necessità di un ripensamento critico e fondato delle strategie per la coesione territoriale
The question of the archetype within the framework of the sociology of imaginary
No full textThe most established sociological discourse in academic circles has long marginalized the heuristic potential of archetypes. The idea of universal, ahistorical psychic models clashes with the constructionist paradigm of the historical and social sciences. Nevertheless, the sociology of the imaginary is called upon to engage with the archetypal paradigm because, while it forms part of the historical and social sciences, its aim is to grasp the deep dynamics that institute and transform the visible aspects of the social. Such an approach will also make it possible to redefine the very notion of the imaginary and to hypothesize the existence of social archetypes.
Climate change impacts on livestock and resulting effects on animal health: current challenges in food safety, consumer protection, and animal welfare
No full textIn 2024, catastrophic floods swept through Italy’s EmiliaRomagna region, devastating communities and agricultural
lands. These floods were just one of many extreme climate
events in recent years- alongside record-breaking wildfires
in Canada and the United States in 2023–2024 and Australia’s infamous'Black Summer' of 2019–2020. As these
events escalate in frequency and intensity, the link between
human-driven climate change and its devastating effects
becomes undeniable. Among the industries contributing significantly to this crisis, the food supply chain - particularly
intensive livestock farming, which exacerbates greenhouse
gas emissions, deforestation, and biodiversity loss - plays a
significant role, raising urgent questions about how we produce and consume food in a warming world. Furthermore,
we must also consider that a warming and polluted world
represent a danger to all forms of live, including humans
and animals. In fact, the impact of these changes on animals and their welfare is profound, with significant implications for consumer protection. In intensive farming systems,
extreme weather events such as floods, heatwaves, and
wildfires often leave animals trapped in unsafe conditions,
suffering from dehydration, starvation, or death. Additionally, the stress and overcrowding of animals in factory farms
increase the risk of zoonotic disease outbreaks, threatening
both public health and food safety. Consumers increasingly
demand humane and sustainable practices in the food industry, recognizing the link between animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and their own well-being.
In this scenario, to protect consumers and mitigate climate-induced risks, systemic changes are needed to reduce the environmental impact of human’s activities, with a particular focus on the food supply chain. In this way it could be possible to achieve both a lower environmental impact and improved food quality and safety simultaneously
Implementazione delle tecnologie blockchain e smart contract nella logistica e nel contratto di trasporto merci.
No full textIl presente contributo analizza il ruolo trasformativo della tecnologia blockchain e degli smart contract nel settore della logistica e del trasporto internazionale di merci. In un contesto globale sempre più digitalizzato, questi strumenti emergono come soluzioni promettenti per garantire maggiore trasparenza, sicurezza e automazione nei processi contrattuali e logistici. Lo studio si apre con un inquadramento generale delle tecnologie coinvolte, approfondendo le implicazioni giuridiche della loro introduzione, in particolare nel diritto internazionale privato e contrattuale. Viene poi esaminato il quadro normativo internazionale e sovranazionale, mettendo in evidenza l’assenza di una regolamentazione armonizzata e i tentativi di soft law per colmare le lacune esistenti. Una parte centrale dell’analisi è dedicata alle applicazioni pratiche, con riferimento a progetti pilota e casi d’uso che mostrano i benefici della digitalizzazione documentale e dell’automazione contrattuale tramite smart contract. Vengono inoltre evidenziati i principali profili critici – dalla responsabilità per malfunzionamenti, alla sicurezza informatica, fino alla mancanza di interoperabilità giuridica e tecnica – e discusse le prospettive future, che richiedono un intervento normativo multilivello e un dialogo strutturato tra diritto e tecnologia. L’articolo conclude che, affinché blockchain e smart contract possano essere pienamente integrati nei processi logistici globali, è necessario un ripensamento delle categorie giuridiche tradizionali e un adattamento progressivo dell’ecosistema normativo internazionale
