Thus, a team with fewer players is considered defeated, depending on the case, by forfeit or penalty. However, understaffing can result from a force majeure event, of which Covid-19 was a common example in 2020. Paradoxically, depending on the applicable regulations, defeat on the field is sometimes preferred to defeat without a match at all.Beaucoup de sports sont collectifs, en ce sens que leur pratique nécessite officiellement des équipes comprenant au moins une demi-dizaine de joueurs. Ainsi, l’équipe en sous-nombre est-elle considérée comme battue, selon le cas, par forfait ou par pénalité. No full textInternational audienceAbsenteeism generally disrupts the functioning of organizations. Therefore, various efforts are made to address it. One method used is the meeting minutes: they distinguish between those present and those absent, as well as those excused. Their posting or distribution online may follow. Thus, there is a "Name and Shame" system; the aim is to shame the absentee, who then exposes them to public criticism. The problem is that an absence may turn out to be legitimate and excusable. The person publishing such an absence will therefore be at fault and would have to pay damages to their victim. However, this culprit will hide behind freedom of expression and freedom of the press. Moreover, the short three-month deadline against publication rarely allows for timely action to obtain compensation.L’absentéisme perturbe généralement le fonctionnement de structures. Aussi s’efforce-t-on d’y pallier diversement. L’une des façons utilisée est le PV de réunion : il distingue les présents et les absents, de même que les personnes excusées. Son affichage ou sa diffusion par Internet peut suivre. Il existe ainsi un ‘’Name and Shame’’ ; en vue de faire honte à la personne absentéiste, alors exposée à la critique populaire. Le problème est qu’une absence peut se révéler comme étant légitime, excusable. L’auteur de la publication d’une telle absence sera donc fautif, et devrait payer des dommages-intérêts à sa victime. Toutefois, ce coupable s’abritera derrière la liberté d’expression et la liberté de la presse. De plus, le bref délai de trois mois contre la publication permet rarement d’agir à temps pour obtenir réparation

Especially since his or her absences may be attributable to the employer. For example, the employer may have provoked a strike by neglecting to fulfill his or her commitments to staff. Worse, the employee may have been prevented from attending the workplace for a certain period of time: suspensions and layoffs. In truth, the legitimacy of absences also rests on texts prescribing rest, vacation, or time off.Le défaut d’assiduité ressemble généralement à une faute commise par le travailleur. Mais celui-ci n’est pas forcément blâmable pour son absentéisme. Surtout que ses absences peuvent être imputables à l’employeur lui. Il aura par exemple provoqué une grève en négligeant de remplir ses engagements envers le personnel. Pire, il aura peut-être au travailleur ne pas venir occuper le poste de travail durant un certain temps : suspensions et mises à pied. No full textInternational audienceDans un quartier densément peuplé de la périphérie beyrouthine, régulièrement exposé aux inondations saisonnières, la perception du risque se construit à travers des expériences ordinaires, souvent silencieuses. Ici, la gestion du risque ne dépend pas de dispositifs numériques ou de protocoles institutionnels, mais de formes situées de vigilance, de mémoire du risque, de circulation de l’information entre les acteurs. Dans ce territoire marqué par une gouvernance fragmentée — entre ONG, acteurs religieux, groupes politiques et absence de l’État — l’incertitude caractérise les conditions.Cette contribution s’inscrit dans l’axe 2 du colloque, « Faire l’expérience collective des espaces incertains », en mobilisant une approche hybride combinant communication orale, photographie et écriture issue du carnet de terrain. Cette valorisation plurielle vise à rendre compte de manière sensible et vivante des pratiques quotidiennes et des perceptions partagées du risque d’inondation dans un quartier informel de Beyrouth. Ce travail propose une exploration sensible de ces espaces informels, en mobilisant une écriture de terrain appuyée sur la marche, le dessin, la photographie, et des formes d’écoute attentive aux récits, aux ambiances et aux micro gestes de protection. Il documente moins un « déficit » d’aménagement qu’il ne donne à voir et à sentir des mesures alternatives de gestion du risque, inscrites dans les corps, les habitudes et les attachements aux lieux.Par conséquent, en combinant les techniques artistiques et la démarche ethnographique, elle met en évidence la manière dont les résidents s’adaptent, anticipent ou banalisent les risques. En combinant des méthodes issues des sciences sociales et une pratique artistique, cette recherche se demande dans quelle mesure il est possible de capter l’incertitude par le biais de dispositifs sensoriels, au-delà des outils technologiques ou des discours d’expert

Simuorb: a new method for generating and describing the intersection points of clique-arrangements
No full textThis work, which may be seen as a companion paper to [1], handles the way the intersection points made by the diagonals of a regular polygon are distributed. It was stated recently by the authors that these points lie exclusively on circles centered on the origin and also the way their respective radii depend on the four indices of the vertices of the initial regular n-gon which characterize the two straight lines underlying the intersection points. Because these four vertices are located at preset positions on the the regular n-gon inscribed in the unit circle whose path-length perimeter is constant, it allows the orbits to be characterized by 3 parameters instead of 4, describing roughly the lengths of the paths between the first three vertices, whether the quadrilateral described by these four vertices is simple or complex. This approach enables us to deal with the orbits generated by the clique-arrangement, and to handle their cardinalities as well as the multiplicities of the associated intersection points. A reliable counting-algorithm based on this triplet strategy is provided in order to enumerate the intersection points without generating the associated graph. The orbits being simulated, we call this method Simuorb. The procedure is robust, fast and allows a comprehensive understanding of what is happening in a clique-arrangement, whether it contains a large number of points or not

Valorization of Sugar Beet Byproducts into Oligogalacturonides with Protective Activity against Wheat Powdery Mildew
No full textInternational audienceThe shift toward sustainable agriculture emphasizes the need for eco-friendly biocontrol strategies. Oligogalacturonides (OGs), which are pectin-derived cell wall fragments, are promising plant defense inducers. This study evaluated two OGs mixtures, obtained from sugar beet byproducts, for their protective effect against Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici (Bgt), the causal agent of wheat powdery mildew. OGs were generated by hydrolyzing pectins with two Arabidopsis thaliana polygalacturonases, ADPG2 and PGLR, expressed in Pichia pastoris. OGs-ADPG2 showed a degree of polymerization (DP) 1-10 and esterification (DE) 41%, while OGs-PGLR had DP 1-16 and DE 34.5%. Although neither inhibited Bgt spore germination directly, OGs-PGLR provided 31% preventive protection. Both OGs activated defense-related genes, but only OGs-PGLR induced lipoxygenase (9-LOX), initiating the octadecanoic pathway and oxylipin production. Overall, these results highlight the potential of OGs derived from sugar beet byproducts as sustainable alternatives to reduce phytochemical use in crop protection
