Enhancing Advanced Planning of Manufacturing Operations using Discrete Event Simulation

    No full text
International audienceIn recent decades, manufacturing system, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have faced rising challenges due to increased demand for customization and shorter delivery times. To adapt, many firms rely on temporary workforce teams, yet determining optimal staffing remains complex due to budget limits, contractual constraints, and forecast uncertainties. Although Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) systems have long been proposed to address such issues, they often focus on complex mathematical models with limited practical implementation guidance. This work introduces a practical APS framework built around three modules. The first handles data structuring, analysis, and demand forecasting. The second focuses on production planning, combining a multi-objective lot-sizing optimization sub-module for aggregated planning and a discrete-event simulation sub-module for operational scheduling. A regulation heuristic corrects forecast deviations in real time. The third module offers decision support, assessing the impact of strategies on KPIs such as service level, inventory, and workforce use. The results from the case study demonstrate that the proposed system consistently achieves a 100\% service level, while the customer satisfaction rate remains close to 100\% as well

Cocycle weighted infinitesimal bialgebras and pre-Lie algebras on rooted trees

    No full text
The concept of weighted infinitesimal bialgebras provides an algebraic framework for understanding the non-homogeneous associative Yang-Baxter equation. In this paper, we endow the space of decorated planar rooted forests with a two-parameters family of coproducts, making it into a weighted infinitesimal bialgebra. A combinatorial characterization of the coproducts is given via the notion of forest biideals. Furthermore, by constructing a bilinear symmetric form and introducing a new grafting operation on rooted forests, we describe the associated dual products. We also introduce the notion of the pair-weight 1-cocycle condition and investigate the universal properties of decorated planar rooted forests satisfying this condition. This leads to the definition of a weighted Ω-cocycle infinitesimal unitary bialgebra. As applications, we identify the initial object in the category of free cocycle infinitesimal unitary bialgebras on undecorated planar rooted forests, corresponding to the well-known noncommutative Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra. In addition, we establish isomorphisms between different coproduct structures and construct a pre-Lie algebra structure on decorated planar rooted forests

Innovative Integration of GBA and Hybrid TESLA for Securing IoT Authentication in 5G and 6G Networks

International audienceThis paper presents a novel enhancement in the Hybrid TESLA protocol, integrating the Generic Bootstrapping Architecture (GBA) to replace public-key cryptography in the synchronization phase. The proposed protocol securely establishes communication between IoT devices and application servers without transmitting sensitive credentials over the network by leveraging GBA’s symmetric encryption and session key generation. Utilizing the existing mobile network infrastructure, GBA ensures secure authentication, making the protocol highly suitable for resource-constrained IoT environments. A simulation analysis conducted using Java demonstrated successful synchronization between clients and servers, with previous GBA experimental results confirming the protocol’s efficiency in terms of authentication time and power consumption. The Hybrid TESLA protocol’s use of SHA-2 and SHA-3 hashing functions ensures minimal computational demands while maintaining robust cybersecurity. This integration expands Hybrid TESLA’s utility in metaverse environments, enabling secure, seamless interactions across mobile networks

    No full text

Combination of neural network models for estimating Chlorophyll-a over turbid and clear waters (CONNECT)

International audienceEstimation of Chlorophyll-a concentration (Chl-a) across diverse aquatic systems using Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer-Aqua (MODIS-A) data has posed challenges, particularly the inability of existing algorithms to maintain consistent accuracy across varying optical water conditions, from oligotrophic clear waters to highly turbid productive systems. Traditional Blue/Green ratio approaches often show limitations over optically complex waters where colored dissolved organic matter and suspended sediments interfere with phytoplankton signal detection. In contrast, Red/NIR (Near-Infrared) models perform relatively well in productive coastal domains but are less effective in open ocean waters where phytoplankton absorption is too weak to produce detectable signals in these longer wavelengths. To address these challenges, we developed a Combination Of Neural Network models for Estimating Chlorophyll-a over Turbid and clear waters (CONNECT model) based on the principle that different Optical Water Types (OWTs) require specialized bio-optical algorithms. The methodology involves the development of two Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) models (NN-Clear & NN-Turbid) that are trained and evaluated on a comprehensive in-situ dataset with simultaneous measurements of Remote Sensing Reflectance (Rrs) and Chl-a gathered in various environments from clear to ultra-turbid waters (N = 5,358) with Chl-a ranging between 0.017 and 838.24 µg.L-1. These specialized models are then combined through a weighted blending approach to produce unified Chl-a estimates that adapts to the optical conditions of various water types. In particular, the algorithm merging process involves the use of probability values corresponding to 2 groups of Optical Water Types as the blending coefficients. Accuracy evaluations performed on both in-situ and matchup datasets indicate a remarkable advancement of the CONNECT model compared to the traditional Blue/Green approaches over different trophic conditions with an improvement of 49.65% on the matchup validation considering the Symmetric Signed Percentage Bias (SSPB) metric

    No full text
International audienceThis paper focuses primarily on the limitations on the scope or effectiveness of the French Environmental Charter that can be attributed to the ordinary courts, and in particular to the supreme courts of both jurisdictions. The comparison between the Council of State and the Court of Cassation finds obvious common ground: the priority preliminary ruling on constitutionality (“question prioritaire de constitutionnalité”, QPC), since both sides exercise the same role of filter judge. This study of the (non-) transmission of QPCs makes it possible to differentiate between the behaviour of administrative and judicial judges, and above all to test the hypothesis of excessive filtering on the part of the Council of State (first part). In addition to QPCs, since the constitutional provisions of the Charter can be invoked before both judicial and administrative courts, the limited influence of the Charter on the substance of environmental litigation is also questionable. In this respect, the limitations before the judicial judge can be explained by the type of litigation likely to arise and the tools already in place to deal with it.

National audienceIn this paper, we consider the problem of combining several multispectral and one hyperspectral image, extending the classical multi-sharpening problem which aims to fuse one multispectral and one hyperspectral image. The proposed method is based on joint tensor decomposition. In particular, building upon the STEREO framework, we introduce our proposed method named G-STEREO-1, which leverages an extension of Sylvester equations within a joint tensor canonical polyadic decomposition. Experiments on synthetic and real data show the proposed method to outperform state-of-the-art tensor fusion methods.
