    International audienceSodium-ion batteries (NIBs) have emerged as a promising alternative to lithium-ion batteries in many areas, including the mobility and grid-level storage sectors. They are now explicitly included in many technology-strategy roadmaps and are the subject of active research and development efforts around the globe. Current NIBs are enabled by three distinct chemical compositions, each of which has its own specific characteristics and, consequently, performance and economic considerations. This Review highlights the remaining scientific challenges for researchers and provides consumers with contemporary factual indicators to enable them to select the appropriate NIB for their needs

    Managing supply chain resilience under complexity: exploring the role of industrial metaverse technology in the manufacturing sector

    International audiencePurpose In today's dynamic environment, Industrial Metaverse Technology (IMT) promises to enhance supply chain resilience (SCR) by optimizing operations and building adaptability. Also, it can help generate economic value by enabling firms to sustain performance under disruptions, minimize their costs engaged for recovery and reconfigure the supply chain (SC) capabilities to achieve long-term continuity. In this context, this study explores the potential of IMT in maintaining the adaptive, restorative and absorptive core capacities of the SCR while considering SC complexity. Design/methodology/approach It introduces a three-dimensional framework for SCR while considering the dynamic capabilities view (DCV) and complex adaptive systems (CAS) theories. The framework is empirically validated using structural equation modeling (SEM) to test the developed hypotheses and evaluate the power of IMT in ensuring SCR under SC complexity based on data from experts. Findings The findings reveal that the IMT has the potential to design effective absorptive and adaptive capacities to build robust SCs, capable of resisting negative impacts associated with extreme disruptions. Furthermore, the study demonstrates the needed digital-dynamic capabilities (DDC) of IMT that can be implemented to anticipate potential disruptions and adjust the firm's core capacities to resist, respond and recover from similar events. Originality/value Grounded on the CAS and DCV theories, this study challenges the static view that considers SCR as a reactive capability only by showing that digital capabilities offering visibility, proactiveness and adaptability are important for dealing with disruptions and ensuring a desired level of resilience through the reconfiguration of the SC capabilities. Furthermore, it argues that understanding the facets of SC complexity would help firms identify their critical issues and vulnerabilities, allowing for an effective design of digital transformation through the IMT to achieve resilience and higher economic value for industrial firms

    Modeling the impact of hydrological dynamics on Schistosomiasis transmission

    International audienceSchistosomiasis is a parasitic disease transmitted through freshwater snails, with transmission dynamics strongly influenced by environmental conditions. While water level plays a crucial role in shaping snail habitats and human exposure, the relative impacts of water velocity and depth on disease prevalence remain poorly understood. In this study, we integrate a mathematical model of human and snail schistosomiasis prevalence with the Saint-Venant system to examine how hydrodynamic factors influence transmission dynamics. Our findings reveal that water depth has a more significant impact on schistosomiasis transmission in downstream conditions, whereas water velocity has a greater impact upstream, likely due to its effects on snail distribution and parasite dispersal. These results suggest that considering hydrodynamic conditions is essential for improving disease control strategies

    Évaluation de l’entéro-IRM sans vs avec injection dans le bilan initial de la maladie de Crohn en pédiatrie

    Introduction: Magnetic Resonance Enterography (MRE) is now part of the initial assessment of Crohn’s disease in pediatric patients. It allows for mapping of lesions, evaluating disease activity, and detecting complications. Non-contrast MRE could potentially address all these objectives. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the non-inferiority of non-contrast MRE compared to contrast-enhanced MRE in the initial assessment of pediatric Crohn’s disease. Methods: All patients under 18 years of age with a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease who underwent contrast-en- hanced MRE within one year of diagnosis were eligible. Three readers independently reviewed the images without access to the contrast-enhanced sequences. Results: Forty-one patients were retrospectively included. No significant difference was found in the as- sessment of disease activity using the sMARIA score between the non-contrast readings. Inter-ob- server agreement was excellent, with a mean kappa coefficient ranging from 0.85 to 0.88. Conclusion: Non-contrast MRE allows for detection of lesions and quantification of disease activity compara- ble to contrast-enhanced MRE. Avoiding contrast injection may help reduce examination time, eliminate the need for intravenous access, and avoid exposure to gadolinium-based contrast agen- ts.Introduction : l’entéro-IRM fait aujourd’hui parti du bilan initial de la maladie de Crohn en pédiatrie. Elle permet de cartographier les atteintes, d’évaluer l’activité de la maladie et de rechercher les complications de celle-ci. L’entéro-IRM sans injection pourrait permettre de répondre à l’ensemble de ces questions. L’objectif principal de cette étude était d’évaluer la non infériorité de l’entéro-IRM sans injection par rapport à l’entéro-IRM avec injection dans le bilan initial de la maladie de Crohn en pédiatrie. Méthode : tout patient âgé de moins de 18 ans, avec un diagnostic de maladie de Crohn, ayant réalisé une entéro-IRM injectée dans l’année suivant le diagnostic. Trois relecteurs ont relu les imageries sans les séquences injectées. Résultats : 41 patients ont été inclus de manière rétrospective. Il était retrouvé une absence de différence significative dans la mesure de l’activité de la maladie par le score sMARIA entre la relecture sans injection, avec une excellente concordance inter-observateurs, estimée par un kappa moyen variant entre 0,85 et 0,88. Conclusion : l’entéro-IRM sans injection permet de détecter les atteintes, et de quantifier l’activité de la maladie de manière superposable à l’entéro-IRM avec injection. L’absence d’injection permettrait donc de diminuer le temps d’examen, de ne pas perfuser l’enfant, et d’éviter l’exposition aux produits de contrastes gadolinés

    Mechanisms of Verbal Fluency Impairment in Stroke: Insights From "Strategic Indices" Derived From a Study of 337 Patients

    International audienceVerbal fluency provides a unique index of the functional architecture of control functions because it reflects the interactions between executive processes and lower-level language processes. However, an evaluation of the number of correct words alone does not enable one to determine precisely which processes are impaired. This study investigates post-stroke fluency impairments, focusing on previously unexplored indices and their neuroanatomical correlates using voxel-based lesion symptom mapping (VLSM). In total, 337 patients and 851 controls performed letter and semantic fluency tests. Analyses included overall performance (correct responses) and strategic indices (errors, time course, frequency, switches, and cluster size). Stroke patients produced fewer correct responses, more rule-breaking errors, fewer words after 15″, fewer infrequent words, fewer switches, and smaller clusters in letter fluency. Switching was strongly associated with letter fluency, while clustering was more related to semantic fluency. VLSM identified left-hemisphere structures, particularly frontal tracts (e.g., anterior thalamic and frontostriatal tracts), associated with switching, and a smaller set of left-hemisphere structures linked to clustering. Conceptually, the findings suggest stroke-related fluency disorders primarily arise from impairments in executive strategic search, as indicated by switching impairments, with weaker impairment on lexicosemantic abilities. The rarity of rule-breaking and perseverative errors indicates that inhibition and working memory deficits do not significantly contribute to poor fluency. The patients' production of infrequent words and fluency worsened over time, although the precise contributions of the three core processes to these additional changes require further investigation. Our results highlight the importance of detailed fluency evaluations in stroke patients for optimized rehabilitation

    International audienceMedieval reflection on the hand has highlighted its dichotomous or dialectical aspects: in a negative sense, the hand can produce idols and objects considered inferior to intellectual activity, or in a positive sense, the hand’s movements can be well regulated by criteria that express the divine origin of the human being who directs it. After an initial part dedicated to Cicero and Augustine, who elaborate on the positive sense in which the hand is an expression of man’s divine dignity, the article focuses on the reflections of the Friars Minor Bonaventure of Bagnoregio and Roger Bacon, who, in different ways, re-evaluate the mechanical arts. It will be shown how the ability to well order the movements of the hand through intelligible criteria, such as harmonic proportions, constitutes an essential trait for it to be recognised as having full dignity – as opposed to what it could do if oriented to ‘lower’ purposes such as the production of idols –, a full dignity since it is aimed at the highest tasks of the human being

    International audienceIntroductionPharmaceutical decision support systems (PDSS) are artificial intelligence-based tools that enable real-time identification of high-risk iatrogenic drug situations. They are gradually being deployed and integrated into clinical pharmacy activities in French-speaking countries, but the way they work varies from one establishment to another. For this reason, a desire to harmonize practices has arisen following the French-speaking PDSS user days in Lille in September 2021. The first task identified by the community of practice, set up within the ANAP in 2022, was to create a common French-speaking vocabulary to talk about these tools. The aim of this work is to establish a consensual French-language terminology for terms used in the operation and assessment of PDSSs, by creating a glossary common to users of these tools.MethodsThe creation of this glossary was based on a Delphi methodology, via online questionnaires sent to a panel of expert users of these PDSSs. The process followed a 3-stage methodology: (i) identification of the term to be defined; (ii) naming of the term; and (iii) definition of the term. At each stage, the term, its naming and finally its definition had to achieve consensus in order to move on to the next stage (degree of consensus set at ≥ 75%). Experts responding to the questionnaire had to be users of a PDSS and practicing in a French-speaking country.Results and DiscussionA total of 22 terms were identified and defined. For each of them, a definition was provided, and for some of them, synonyms were used to complete the definition. This initial work is a preliminary work for launching the other projects identified by the community of practice, in order to collaborate and structure together the use, integration and enhancement of these tools in pharmaceutical professional practices.IntroductionLes systèmes d’aide à la décision pharmaceutique (SADP) sont des outils basés sur l’intelligence artificielle permettant de repérer en temps réel des situations à haut risque iatrogène médicamenteux. Leurs déploiements et intégrations progressifs aux activités de pharmacie clinique dans les pays francophones se déroulent selon des fonctionnements hétérogènes entre les établissements ayant acquis ces outils. C’est pourquoi une volonté d’harmoniser les pratiques est née suite aux journées francophones des utilisateurs de SADP en septembre 2021 à Lille. Le premier travail identifié par la communauté de pratique, constituée au sein de l’ANAP en 2022, était de créer un vocabulaire commun francophone pour parler de ces outils. L’objectif de ce travail est d’établir une terminologie francophone consensuelle sur les termes utilisés lors du fonctionnement et de l’évaluation des SADP par la création d’un glossaire commun aux utilisateurs de ces outils.Matériel et méthodesLa création de ce glossaire s’est basée sur une méthodologie Delphi, via des questionnaires en lignes envoyés à un panel d’experts utilisateurs de ces SADP. Cette démarche a suivi une méthodologie en 3 étapes : (i) identification du terme à définir ; (ii) dénomination du terme et ; (iii) définition du terme. À chaque étape, le terme, sa dénomination et enfin sa définition devaient obtenir un consensus pour passer à l’étape d’après (degré de consensus fixé à ≥ 75 %). Les experts répondant au questionnaire devaient être utilisateurs d’un SADP et exercer dans un pays francophone.Résultats et discussionAu total, 22 termes ont été identifiés et définis. Pour chacun d’eux, une définition leur a été associée, et pour certains d’entre eux, des synonymes ont permis de compléter la définition.     Personality and impulsivity traits associated with problematic online gaming and poker playing

    International audienceOnline gambling and gaming are associated with Problematic Usage of the Internet (PUI) in subgroups of individuals. This study aimed to assess how different personality dimensions are associated with PUI scores of Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG) players and online poker players, and to characterize common and specific personality traits of both groups in their association with PUI. Participants (N = 1144) were recruited online and assessed with the Internet Addiction Test (IAT), the Big Five Inventory and the Short UPPS-P Impulsive Behavior Scale. Data were analyzed with multiple robust linear regression models. The first model tested the associations between personality and impulsivity traits with IAT scores, while controlling for age, gender, and type of online activity. The second model included interaction terms to assess whether these associations differed between MMORPG and poker players. In model 1, neuroticism, negative urgency, positive urgency and sensation seeking were significantly and positively associated with higher IAT scores after controlling for the other personality traits, age, gender, and type of online activity. Extraversion was negatively associated with IAT scores. In Model 2, no significant difference in how these personality traits relate to IAT scores was observed between the two groups. Results highlight that traits such as neuroticism, negative urgency, positive urgency, and sensation seeking constitute potential risk factors for PUI, while extraversion might constitute a protective factor against PUI. The identified associations could be useful in understanding players’ attitudes and supporting them in gaining insight into their difficulties

    International audienceLa présente publication s’inscrit dans la continuité de l’ouvrage collectif intitulé Aufklärungsdiskurse in der deutschsprachigen Regionalpresse Zentraleuropas, 1800-1920 (L’Héritage des Lumières dans la presse de langue allemande en Europe centrale, 1800-1920) paru en 2022 dans cette même collection. Ces études se concentraient alors sur les déclinaisons des Lumières dans la presse régionale de l’espace multiethnique de la monarchie des Habsbourg au cours du long xixe siècle. Deux angles avaient été retenus : il s’agissait d’étudier d’une part le mode de transfert des Lumières françaises et (nord-)allemandes dans les différents types de textes des organes de presse, d’autre part les éventuelles particularités dans ces régions certes situées au centre du continent européen, mais considérées d’un point de vue culturel comme périphériques ou, depuis la capitale, au fin fond de l’Empire

    Retours sur une expérience forestière transdisciplinaire : le projet Plantaclim

    National audiencePlantaclim est un projet qui, financé par la Région Centre-Val de Loire, s’est intéressé aux « services des (re)plantations forestières dans le contexte du changement climatique ». Il a associé des chercheurs en sciences humaines et sociales (géographie) et en sciences de la vie et de la Terre (écologie surtout et géo-chimie) ainsi que des acteurs forestiers (ONF, CNPF, FiBois, association des entrepreneurs de travaux forestiers…) et territoriaux (association de protection de la nature, PNR, communauté de communes). Une telle approche, transdisciplinaire, s’impose dès lors qu’il s’agit d’analyser des interactions forêts-sociétés et leurs évolutions. Mais comment favoriser, voire autoriser, le dialogue entre une telle diversité de partenaires et permettre un croisement des résultats ? Dans cette communication, nous reviendrons sur cette expérience, sur un plan conceptuel et méthodologique. En l’occurrence, nous nous attarderons sur le choix du concept de service écosystémiques. Nous verrons aussi que la question de la définition de la forêt, en fonction des acteurs et usagers, s’est très vite imposée au regard de l’objet de notre recherche, les plantations. Nous présenterons ensuite les méthodes mobilisées, en nous attardant notamment sur la manière dont la biodiversité associée aux plantations forestières a été analysée, en croisant inventaires floristiques et entomologiques et entretiens semi-directifs avec des acteurs et usagers. La place des plantations dans les paysages a été une question centrale, autant que celle des héritages. La recherche se poursuit ainsi aujourd’hui, dans le cadre du PEPR FORESTT/RÉGÉ-ADAPT, en questionnant les impacts à plus ou moins long terme des plantations
