    Negative expectations and measurable movement mechanics: a scoping review of the nocebo effect on motor performance

    International audienceIntroduction The nocebo effect, where negative responses can occur as a result of negative expectations, has gained increasing attention in motor control research, with growing evidence highlighting its impact on both athletic and everyday movements. However, the specific methodologies used to induce nocebo effects on motor outcomes remain unexplored. This scoping review aimed to address three key questions: (1) What experimental protocols have been developed and used to elicit nocebo effects in motor performance in healthy individuals? (2) How are these effects assessed and measured? (3) What are the observed effects on motor outcomes? Methods A scoping review was conducted following the PRISMA framework, searching PubMed, EBSCO, EMBASE, Cochrane, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar from inception to March 2025. Eighteen studies were included. Results and discussion Verbal instruction was the most common induction method (94.4 %), often combined with conditioning or visual cues. Motor tasks assessed gross skills, such as sprinting and cycling), with limited attention given to fine motor control. Outcomes were more frequently centered on performance measures (e.g., strength, endurance), with less emphasis on movement quality (e.g., coordination). Nocebo effects were observed in half of the studies impairing motor performance, including reduced force production, diminished endurance, disrupted postural stability and slower movement speed. The findings highlight methodological diversity in induction protocols and measurement methods. Future research should expand participant diversity, investigate fine motor tasks, and further explore the interplay between induction methods and motor outcomes

    Gastric volumetry: A simplified calculation method based on CT-scan

    International audienceBackground: CT scans can be used to calculate gastric volumes. In patients with adhesive small bowel obstruction, the initial gastric volume could guide the indication for nasogastric tube placement. The objective of this study was to evaluate a quick method for calculating gastric volume on CT scan by measuring two diameters of the gastric antrum, inspired by the "quick" gastric volume ultrasound measurement.Patients and methods: From January 2020 to January 2023, gastric volumes on contrast-enhanced CT scans performed upon admission for patients with adhesive small bowel obstruction were measured using two methods. First, by manual gastric contouring, and second, by measuring two diameters at the antrum and calculating the area, performed by two different operators.Results: A total of 139 patients were included. The mean age was 71 years, 43% of patients were male, the mean BMI was 27, and the surgery rate was 18%. The average gastric volume was 381cc, with the highest recorded volume being 2254cc. The percentage of patients with a gastric volume>300cc was 41%. The mean volume collected by the nasogastric tube during the first 24hours was 1300cc. The average time to measure gastric volume by manual contouring was 365seconds (6.08minutes) vs. 45seconds using the two-diameter measurement technique. The correlation coefficient between the two measurement methods was 0.88, showing strong correlation. The intra-observer correlation coefficient was 0.78.Conclusion: Quick measurement of gastric volume on CT could help guide nasogastric tube use in patients with adhesive small bowel obstruction, limiting the use of poorly tolerated invasive procedures

    10月にシカゴで開催された2023年年次総会は、EDUCAUSEフランス代表団の設立10周年を記念するものでした。この節目は、まさにこの10年間を振り返る絶好の機会です。この取り組みは当初から、主要なトレンドと展望を評価できる多様な専門家を結集することで、フランスの高等教育コミュニティにデジタル問題に関する国際的な視点を提供することを目指してきました。2013年以来、EDUCAUSE年次総会への継続的な参加という形で実現し、その内容は年々大きく充実してきました。設立当初は単なる参加という方針でしたが、代表団のメンバーは徐々にEDUCAUSEの様々なレベルで、総会内外を問わず、積極的に関与するようになりました(下記のインフォグラフィックをご覧ください)。今回、様々なテーマに関する20件のプレゼンテーションを選定しました。当協会のメンバーの中には、毎年EDUCAUSE年次大会の提案審査員や、それぞれのプログラム委員会(2019年と2023年)のメンバーとして活動している者も複数います。また、EDUCAUSE Horizo​​n Reportや年次Top-10課題に関する専門家パネルに参加したり、様々なテーマ別コミュニティグループ(特にXRとラーニングスペース)で活動したり、参考記事の執筆やツールの翻訳に携わったりしている者もいます。さらに、2013年以降、EDUCAUSE年次大会の前後に約30回の現地視察を実施してきました。これらの視察では、常に素晴らしい歓迎を受けるだけでなく、質の高い議論を通して、この分野に関する貴重な知見を得ることができました

    The Annual Conference 2023 held in Chicago in October marked the 10th anniversary of the EDUCAUSEFrench Delegation. This milestone is obviously an opportunity for us to look back on the road travelled in adecade.From the beginning, this initiative has sought to provide the French higher education community with aninternational perspective on digital issues, by bringing together complementary profiles capable of assessing themajor trends and prospects. This has taken the form of ongoing participation in the EDUCAUSE AnnualConferences since 2013, which has been significantly enriched over the years. From an initial philosophy ofsimple participation that prevailed in the early years, the members of this Delegation have gradually becomeinvolved at various levels of EDUCAUSE, within the framework of the conferences and beyond (see theinfographic below).We have now twenty presentations selected on a range of topical subjects. Several of our members are alsoinvolved each year as proposal reviewers for the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference, and as members of therespective program committees (in 2019 and 2023). Finally, some of us sit on expert panels for the EDUCAUSEHorizon Report and the annual Top-10 issues, are active in various thematic Community Groups (XR andLearning Spaces in particular), or are involved as writers of reference articles and translators of tools.We should also mention the nearly thirty site visits that have also been carried out since 2013 before or after theEDUCAUSE Annual Conferences, which, in addition to the remarkable welcome we have always received, haveprovided us with an invaluable insight into the field through high-quality discussions

    Impact du mois du Ramadan sur la performance sportive

    International audienceIntroduction: Le mois sacré du Ramadan, avec ses exigences spirituelles et ses changements significatifs dans le mode de vie et les habitudes alimentaires, représente un défi particulier pour les athlètes musulmans qui cherchent à maintenir leur performance physique tout en respectant leur engagement religieux. Méthode: Cette revue narrative met l’accent sur l’effet du mois du Ramadan sur la performance sportive, en examinant comment les athlètes s’adaptent à ces conditions uniques et les stratégies pratiques qu’ils mettent en place pour optimiser leur résilience et leurs performances.Résultats: Bien que cette période de jeûne quotidien soit source de renouveau spirituel, elle pose des défis qui peuvent affecter la capacité des athlètes à exceller dans des disciplines sportives exigeantes. Conclusion: Des recherches futures devront définir les protocoles optimaux pour adapter l’entraînement pendant le Ramadan afin de maximiser les bénéfices physiologiques tout en minimisant les impacts négatifs sur la performance
