Aspetti di teologia ascetico-mistica in Caterina da Genova: La vita nuova nell’amore puro di Dio
Get PDFSummary: The article intends to analyse the elements of ascetic-mystical theology which are present in the writings of Catherine of Genoa, based fundamentally upon the axiom, which she recognised and accepted, that the nothingness of the creature is the condition for being able to be filled with, and for allowing oneself to be transformed by, the Everything of God. It is a mysticism permeated by total and gratuitous service of neighbour, since there can never be a true mysticism without active works to accompany it, nor true service of charity which is not rooted in pure Love. This is Christian Love in the concrete, which transforms the soul which places itself at the disposal of such love and which allows itself to be worked upon by that love, making the soul into an incandescent furnace, the prelude to the complete and definitive encounter with God who is Love. Catherine’s theology helps us to understand that we are all called to an ever deeper union with God.

Thomasian thesis, which holds that it is impossible for the created intellect to know what God is. The nub of Thomas’ magnificent way of proceeding is to be found in the way he goes beyond the mere predication of efficient causality, by way of the metaphysical notion of participation, to make this possible and solid. The resolutio of the ens in its being implies the resolutio of all the perfections in the being and, in this way, beyond the need to ascend to the ipsum esse subsistens, grounds at the same time the effective affirmation of a ‘positive apophatism’, not so much due to the inadequacy of the effects, so much and above all due to the absolute emergence of the ipsum esse subsistens, omnibus modis indeterminatum. Hence,
we come to know with certainty that the divine essence is being itself, although we cannot come to know what an ipsum esse subsistens is as such.

As a premise, there are some key points of philosophy that von Balthasar has conceived which may contribute to an integration with theology. After distinguishing different interpretations of negative theology, he describes the characteristic
features of a Christian negative theology. At the end of this, there is not only the philosophical silence that recognizes the inadequacy of language, but there is also the believing silence of adoration. The Christian premise is unanswerable: God has revealed himself; theology begins with the self-revelation of the Trinitarian God in the incarnation of the divine Logos. The comprehensibility of Jesus' words does not stand in contradiction to their unfathomability.
Before God and His Word, true negative theology is silent adoration and filial obedience.

No full textSummary: The present article intends analyzing some of Aristotle's ideas on communication and education starting from three works contained in the Organon: On Interpretation, Prior Analytics and Posterior Analytics. Aristotle does not limit himself in these works to analyze the fundamental elements of human thought, but rather he makes continuous references to educational topics that show a certain continuity regarding Plato's thought and of his dialogical theory, certainly in a more complete context that allows the elaboration of an interesting theory of communication in the Stagirite.
