This study was conducted to determine the extent of implementation of the existing Provincial Tourism Plan according to its goal in luring tourists to the island of Guimaras. This study was a basis to develop an action plan to operationalize the monitoring system of the program implementation and performance evaluation in accordance with the various programs as embodied in the tourism program of the province. The descriptive survey research design was used in this study. The respondents of this study were composed of the actual tourists/visitors present in the different resorts at the time of the study and the resort owners. The researcher-made questionnaires were distributed to the respondents. The questionnaires were distributed simultaneously to the actual tourists/visitors present in the different resorts at the time of the study. The statistical tools used in the study were frequency counts and percentages for descriptive statistics, and for correlational studies, t-test was used. The major findings were: there were 82 major tourist destinations in Guimaras divided into accommodation and non-accommodation, wherein majority are non-accommodation; that for the last two (2) years, from 2004–2005, the trend on the volume of tourists\u27 arrival was increasing, however, it declined in 2006. This could be attributed to the oil spill incident that occurred that time; the trend in volume of income generated from the tourist arrival also followed with that of tourist arrival wherein there was also a decline in the revenue generated in 2006. In the extent of implementation, respondents indicated that there was a high extent of implementation of the Guimaras Tourism Plan in the areas of tourism policy, strategy, investment, development projects, and partnership. The tourism personnel had a lower perception as to the extent of implementation of the Provincial Tourism Plan, and the respondents did not indicate any concerns or issues regarding the implementation of the Provincial Tourism Plan

This study was conducted to determine the factors affecting the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) performance of the Education graduates of the Guimaras State College. The descriptive-correlational method was used in the study. Secondary data of the LET results for the five consecutive years (2003–2007) of the graduates of the School of Education of Guimaras State College were used. The statistical tools employed in this study were mean, frequency count, and percent. Pearson product moment correlation (Pearson\u27s r) was used to determine the relationships among variables. The graduates were mostly female (232 or 85%) while (42 or 15%) were male. Of these 274 graduates, 198 or 72.26% took the exam and 76 or (27.7%) did not take the exam. From the total of 198 takers, only 80 or (29.20%) passed, 118 or (43.1%) failed. There were graduates who took the LET twice and passed; some took the LET twice but failed. The level of LET performance of the graduates when grouped according to gender and age showed an overall performance of average. There was a significant relationship which existed between the Grade Point Average and gender of the graduates with their LET performance. The GPA of the graduates affected their LET performance, wherein those who had higher GPA had high probability of passing the LET. The gender of the respondents could be considered as a factor in their LET performance, considering that the graduate respondents were composed of 85% female. The GPA and gender of the graduates affected their overall LET performance

The research study was conducted to determine the problems confronting the GSC college students. The descriptive method of research was used in the study. The respondents of this study were the 26% of students randomly selected from the total population of the GSC first-year college students enrolled for the second semester of AY 2006–2007 using the Slovin formula. The needed data in this study was gathered using the checklist of problems used by the Guidance Office in determining the problems of the students. Upon identification of the respondents, they were grouped according to their course, year, and section for an easy administration of the study. The conduct of the study was done in March 2006. The statistical tools used were frequency counts, percentage, mean, and ranking. Results revealed that the majority of the respondents had ages ranging between 23 years old and below. The majority were female with family income below ₱2000.00 per month. The issues and concerns among the problems of the college students of GSC which need to be given attention were academic problems which ranked first, followed by personal problems, then by health problems, social problems, family problems, and problems regarding religion which got the lowest mean responses. Despite the fact that divorce is not practiced and not tolerated in the country, especially in the rural area like Euphemas, 10.11% of the total respondents have broken families. This situation needs to be looked into closely, as well as teachers should be aware of the students’ predicament so that they can handle students’ feelings inside the classrooms whenever discussions regarding family relations crop up
