Triez, soyez-en récompensé !Une mesure des motivations des consommateurs qui activent volontairement la récompense digitale du geste de tri des bouteilles en plastique dans une perspective de marketing de la sobriété
This Executive PhD thesis sits at the intersection of sufficiency-oriented marketing and rudology (waste science). Addressing the persistent challenge of low effectiveness in plastic bottle sorting, this research investigates the impact of digital rewards—specifically blockchain-based utility tokens—on voluntary post-consumption behaviors. The author introduces an original theoretical framework, the "Reasoned Sorting Model," which adapts the Theory of Reasoned Action and the Motivation-Opportunity-Ability (MOA) model to the "phygital" context. The study employs a quantitative hypothetico-deductive methodology, utilizing a digital survey administered to users of the ZeLoop application, analyzed via Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).Results reveal the activation of hybrid motivational dynamics, successfully blending intrinsic drivers (environmental conscience) with extrinsic stimuli (economic incentives, gamification). The study demonstrates that digital rewards reinforce sorting intentions without "crowding out" ecological values. This work contributes to the understanding of responsible phygital innovation and "instrumented sobriety," providing managerial insights for integrating behavioral data into sustainability reporting frameworks (ESG/CSRD).Cette thèse exécutive (Executive PhD) s'inscrit dans le champ du marketing de la sobriété et de la rudologie.
International audienceIn the second half of the twentieth century, higher education institutions (ESR) were assigned “the third mission” with the expectation that they generate knowledge outside academic environments to the benefit of the social, cultural and economic development, especially in their local scope. Starting with the United States, governments in multiple countries have promoted technology transfer policies to foster the innovation induced by public research from the ESR (Bayh-Dole Act of 1980). Inspired by those reforms, France has introduced new reforms since the 2000s to change the role of the ESR establishments. It calls for a closer scrutiny of their real impact on local economic development. With this paper, we propose to fill a gap in the literature by analyzing how ESR research can foster localinnovation in the French context. We select the laws « Research Schedule » (LPR) and « University Freedom and Responsibility » (LRU) of 2006 and 2007 as pivotal higher education reforms. We seek to determine whether these policies are beneficial to the local economic environment or not. The number of patents filed between 2000 and 2012 in French departments is used as a proxy for localinnovation. Despite greater research capacity in the years following the implementation of those reforms, we demonstrate that technology transfer policies are not sufficient instruments to foster local innovation based on research carried out within ESR establishments.
Stochastic carbon regulation in continuous time
International audienceWe deal with optimal dynamic carbon emission regulation of a set of firms. While the results are essentially taken from Aïd and Biagini (2023), the focus here is more on the methodology and its framing in the applied mathematics literature. Firms face idiosyncratic, as well as common, economic shocks on emissions, and they have linear quadratic abatement costs. Firms can trade allowances so as to minimize total expected costs, which arise from abatement, trading and terminal penalty. They may also receive free allowances from the regulator to aid in compliance. Using variational methods, we first exhibit in closed-form the market equilibrium as function of the regulator's allocation. We then solve the Stackelberg game between the regulator and the firms. The result is a closed-form expression of the optimal dynamic allocation policies that allow a desired expected emission reduction. In the presence of market frictions, optimal expected allocations are unique and the optimal allowances price is constant as well as abatement efforts and trading rates
Breaking new ground in tobacco control: student reactions to France’s first smoke-free campus
International audienceBackground: The World Health Organization recommends adopting smoke-free campuses (SFCs), and in 2024, the European Council has urged Member States to implement smoke-free policies on educational premises. However, unlike North America, Australia and New-Zealand, Europe has been slow to adopt SFCs. In France, the EHESP School of Public Health became the first SFC in 2018. This research assessed students' support for this SFC policy since its implementation and examined associated factors. Methods: An online cross-sectional study was conducted annually from 2018 to 2025. The dependent variable was students' support for the SFC policy, measured using a four-point Likert scale ranging from strong opposition to strong support. Explanatory variables included tobacco use behaviors, knowledge of tobacco's dangers, and sociodemographic characteristics. An ordered logit regression model was applied to account for the ordinal nature of the outcome variable. Explanatory variables were introduced sequentially to evaluate their incremental contribution. Results: The sample comprised 2,532 students with a 56.97% overall response rate. Support for the SFC policy was nearly universal (96.7% - 91.4% among students who smoked), exceeding levels reported outside Europe. Smoking status, demographic factors, and time were significantly associated with it. Current smoking or vaping, or ever smoking were negatively associated with support. Support increased between 2018 and 2025. Being a woman, an aspiring public servant, or older in age positively influenced it. Knowledge of tobacco's dangers showed no significant association with support. Conclusions: Most research on SFC policies has been conducted in settings with low smoking prevalence where SFCs are typical. Our study is the first to assess support in a country where SFC policies were not yet widespread. The high level of support observed should encourage the broader implementation of SFCs in France and across other European countries

Theorizing the Colorblind State: Race, Public Ignorance, and the Strategic Use of the First Chicago School in French Sociology
Despite recent criticism of the Chicago School of Sociology on its mixed legacy in US-based sociological circles, an increasing number of French sociologists have turned to Louis Wirth, Ernest Burgess, and Robert Ezra Park to understand racism and migratory processes in contemporary France since the 1990s. They have actively engaged with the writings of the first Chicago School of Sociology to find empirical case studies that they can adapt to the French context. This article will show that the recourse to American sociological classics can be analyzed as a legitimizing strategy for French sociologists working on uncovering structural racial inequalities and racism in France. This renewal of interest was a direct response both to the increasing backlash faced by French sociologists studying race in the wake of Jean-Marie Le Pen’s pivotal election results in 2002 and the rise of an increasingly outspoken far right in France, and to a French model of integration that wholly overlooked race, then the doxa within the social sciences in France. Sociologists of race and ethnicity in France looked for new ways to tackle colorblindness and the structuring of public ignorance on race, considered both as an analytical tool and an identification category
