Duplex α+α′組織を呈すTi-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo-Si合金の優れた引張強度-延性バランス:実験研究と機械学習を援用した組織因子の影響
International audienceThis research focuses on the systematic study of a Ti–6Al–2Sn–4Zr–2Mo–Si titanium alloy and the characterization of α+β (equiaxed and bimodal) and α+αA (duplex) microstructures. It provides more insights on the outstanding advantages of the duplex (α+αA) microstructure, especially on its exceptional work hardening and strength–ductility balance. The heat treatment conditions required to form equiaxed, bimodal and duplex microstructures and their effects on the grain size and the phase proportion are discussed. It shows how the microstructural parameters can be controlled thanks to the heat treatment temperatures, the holding times and possible aging processes. The influence of such microstructural factors on the tensile properties of each alloy is investigated, especially on strength (proof stress, ultimate tensile strength), ductility (plastic elongation) and work hardening properties. The duplex (α+αA) microstructure is compared with the equiaxed and bimodal microstructures and its advantages are displayed, highlighting the better strength–ductility balance and superior work hardening properties of the duplex microstructure. Indeed, the deformed microstructure of the duplex (α+αA) microstructure reveals more homogeneous strain partitioning than that of the bimodal (α+β) microstructure. Thus, this work proved the potential of an optimized duplex (α+αA) microstructure for the enhanced tensile properties at room temperature. Finally, a machine learning model using gradient boosting regression trees is used to quantify the importance of the microstructural factors (type of microstructure, grain size and phase ratio) on the mechanical properties. © 2024 Japan Institute of Metals (JIM)
Sustainable production of biohydrogen: Feedstock, pretreatment methods, production processes, and environmental impact
International audienceA significant increase in the use of hydrogen, expected to reach between 667 and 4000 TWh, is forecasted for the whole EU in 2050. Electrolysis is believed to be a “silver bullet” due to its synergy with the needs of the grid. However, biohydrogen generation could be complimentary to electrolysis since it does not depend on electricity prices. This review presents a comprehensive picture of the landscape in biohydrogen production, showing state-of-the-art research on different biohydrogen production processes and highlighting potential problems and shortcomings for different processes, including microbial-based production and thermal processes. The work shows that “colour coding” used nowadays is insufficient in terms of providing accurate information regarding the sustainability of particular biohydrogen production technologies. Instead, LCA can provide substantial information for each investigated process. However, there is a need for a wider scope of LCA studies since currently published studies present a syndrome of “carbon tunnel vision”, often ignoring impacts other than global warming. Moreover, studies often tend to exclude the impact of capital goods production, which might provide an incomplete overview of such technologies. Moreover, it should not be overlooked that biohydrogen is capable of achieving negative values of CO2 emissions if CCS is implemented
Towards the Integration of Conversational Agents Through a Social Media Platform to Enhance the Agility of BPM
Part 1: AI and CollaborationInternational audienceBusiness Processes enable collaboration among various stakeholders, allowing different groups (people, organizations) to work together to achieve common goals. Therefore, optimizing Business Process Management (BPM) is essential for organizational success in today’s dynamic business environment. However, traditional BPM methods often struggle in volatile execution environments characterized by rapid change, dynamic customer demands, and evolving market trends. Innovative strategies are needed to enhance BPM practices and increase the agility of collaborative business processes. To this end, a particularly promising approach is to use Large Language Models (LLM) agents (Artificial Intelligence conversational agents). These AI conversational agents can be integrated into a social media platform to ease the stakeholders’ collaboration by supporting the co-construction, design, modification, execution, and monitoring of collaborative business processes. AI conversational agents in social media platforms democratize BPM by facilitating collaborative process design and execution, streamlining interactions, and fostering seamless communication and personalized assistance, thus enhancing agility

Interpretable AI for Dermoscopy Images of Pigmented Skin Lesions
International audienceDeep Learning is successful at detecting skin cancer from a lesion image, but its practical adoption is limited by the lack of explanation behind its decisions. The model we develop is no exception; we aim to analyze it based on two dermatology rules for lesion diagnosis. First, we propose a visualization tool to give practitioners additional context to our model’s decision.
