About some robustness and complexity properties of G-graphs networks
International audienceGiven a finite group and a set S ⊂ G, we consider the different cosets of each cyclic group with s ∈ S. Then the G-graph Φ (G,S) associated with G and S can be defined as the intersection graph of all these cosets. These graphs were introduced in Bretto and Faisant (2005) as an alternative to Cayley graphs: they still have strong regular properties but a more flexible structure. We investigate here some of their robustness properties (connectivity and vertex/edge-transitivity) recognized as important issues in the domain of network design. In particular, we exhibit some cases where G-graphs are optimally connected, i.e. their edge and vertex-connectivity are both equal to the minimum degree. Our main result concerns the case of a G-graph associated with an abelian group and its canonical base S, which is shown to be optimally connected. We also provide a combinatorial characterization for this class as clique graphs of Cartesian products of complete graphs and we show that it can be recognized in polynomial time. These results motivate future researches in two main directions: revealing new classes of optimally connected G-graphs and investigating the complexity of their recognition

International audienceThe experiential aspect of purchasing non-deceptive luxury counterfeits: when sense meets sensibilityCounterfeiting is a key issue for luxury brands, especially in terms of potential negative impact on their brandimage. We examine the non-rational feature of knowingly purchasing a fake luxury product, researching its expe-riential aspect, through the analysis of 24 in-depth interviews. The social, playful, exotic and sensory dimensionsare identified. Interactions and evolutions between these factors are discussed and potential implications fordecision and policy-makers are presented, to help them design more suitable anti-counterfeiting communicationcampaigns.La contrefaçon est une problématique clé pour le secteur du luxe, car elle impacte l’image des marques. Is Self-Reported Risk Aversion Time Variant?
ACL-3International audienceWe examine a Japanese Panel Survey in order to check whether self-reported risk aversion varies over time. In most panels, risk attitude variables are collected only once (found in only one survey wave), and it is assumed that self-reported risk aversion reflects the individual’s time-invariant component of preferences toward risk. Nonetheless, the question could be asked as to whether the financial and personal shocks an individual faces over his lifetime modify his risk aversion. Our empirical analysis provides evidence that risk aversion is composed of a time-variant part and shows that the variation cannot be ascribed to measurement error or noise given that it is related to income shocks. Yet, the true time variant factor explains a relatively small share of the observed variation in risk aversion while differences between individuals account for nearly 50 % of it. Taking into account the fact that there are time-variant factors in risk aversion, we investigate how often it is preferable to collect the risk aversion measure in long panel surveys. Our result suggests that the best predictor of current behavior is the average of risk aversion, where risk aversion is collected every two years. It is therefore advisable for risk aversion measures to be collected every two years in long panel surveys

Fast Machine Reassignment
International audienceThis paper proposes a new method for solving the Machine Reassignment Problem in a very short computational time. The problem has been proposed by Google as subject of the Challenge ROADEF/EURO 2012. The Machine Reassignment Problem consists in looking for a reassignment of processes to machines in order to minimize a complex objective function, subject to a rich set of constraints including multidimensional resource, conflict and dependency constraints. In this study, a cooperative search approach is presented for machine reassignment. This approach uses two components: Adaptive Variable Neighbourhood Search and Simulated Annealing based Hyper-Heuristic, running in parallel on two threads and exchanging solutions. Both algorithms employ a rich set of heuristics and a learning mechanism to select the best neighborhood/move type during the search process. The cooperation mechanism acts as a multiple restart which gets triggered whenever a new better solution is achieved by a thread and then shared with the other thread. Computational results on the Challenge instances as well as instances of a Generalized Assignment-like problem are given to show the relevance of the chosen methods and the high benefits of cooperation
Research on Big Data : characterizing the field and its dimensions
International audienceBig Data has emerged as a significant area of study for both practitioners and researchers. Big Data is a term for massive data sets with large structure. In 2012, Big Data passed the top of the Gartner Hype Cycle, attesting the maturity level of this technology and its applications. The aim of this paper is to examine whether the Big Data research community reached the same level of maturity. For this purpose, we provide a framework identifying existing and emerging research areas of Big Data. This framework is based on five dimensions, including the SMACIT perspective. Current and past research in Big Data are analyzed using a bibliometric study of publications based on more than a decade of related academic publications. The results have shown that even if significant contributions have been made by the research community, attested by a continuous increase in the number of scientific publications that address Big Data, it lags behind entreprises’ expectations

A simple estimator for the M-index of functions in M
An estimator for the M-index of functions of M, a larger class than the class of regularly varying (RV) functions, is proposed. This index is the tail index of RV functions and this estimator is thus a new one on the class of RV functions. This estimator satisfies, assuming suitable conditions, strong consistency. Asymptotic normality of this estimator is proved for a large class of RV functions
Reusable knowledge in security requirements engineering: a systematic mapping study
International audienceSecurity is a concern that must be taken into consideration starting from the early stages of system development. Over the last two decades, researchers and engineers have developed a considerable number of methods for security requirements engineering. Some of them rely on the (re)use of security knowledge. Despite some existing surveys about security requirements engineering , there is not yet any reference for researchers and practitioners that presents in a systematic way the existing proposals, techniques, and tools related to security knowledge reuse in security requirements engineering. The aim of this paper is to fill this gap by looking into drawing a picture of the literature on knowledge and reuse in security requirements engineering. The questions we address are related to methods, techniques, modeling frameworks, and tools for and by reuse in security requirements engineering. We address these questions through a systematic mapping study. The mapping study was a literature review conducted with the goal of identifying, analyzing, and categorizing state-of-the-art research on our topic. This mapping study analyzes more than thirty approaches, covering 20 years of research in security requirements engineering. The contributions can be summarized as follows: (1) A framework was defined for analyzing and comparing the different proposals as well as categorizing future contributions related to knowledge reuse and security requirements engineering; (2) the different forms of knowledge representation and reuse were identified; and (3) previous surveys were updated. We conclude that most methods should introduce more reusable knowledge to manage security requirements
