No full textA transcription of the "Huguenot Memoranda," dictated by Martha Venable. These notes provide a narrative of "The Little Nightcap," Susanne Rochet, and her escape from France during the persecution of Huguenots following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. Images of the handwritten story can be found in Documents 005, 006 and 007. This dictated story was probably inscribed in the Bible before the death of Martha W. Venable in November 1878

No full textHandwritten note found inside the Michaux Bible. It refers to the Rev. Albert Sidney Venable (Union BD 1892) on the occasion of his marriage to Sallie E. Garden. The Bible was given to them as a wedding gift by Nannie W. Venable Garden, the bride's stepmother. The Bible passed to the Rev. Sidney Johnson Venable (BD 1918), then to his daughter Leucia Venable of Wilmington, Delaware, who donated it to the William Smith Morton Library in 2015 by deed of gift
