Emilio Wong (Class of 2023) was interviewed by Michelle Ma via the Zoom internet-based conferencing software on March 7, 2024. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Mr. Wong sought opportunities in the United States to study business. With experience in supply chain management from his family’s company in Ecuador, Mr. Wong pursued a BBA in Business Analytics and Supply Chain Management from SMU’s Cox School of Business. Looking to prove he can advance on his own, Mr. Wong parted ways with his friends, who studied in Boston, and chose SMU because of Dallas’ strong connections to several businesses and strong networking possibilities. Finding virtual learning challenging as a sophomore transfer student during the height of the COVID pandemic, Mr. Wong nevertheless found his footing with the help of SMU’s chapter of ALPFA, the Association for Latino Professionals of America.
