Reeth Magoo Interview
No full textReeth Magoo (Class of 2023) was interviewed by Laura Narvaez via the Zoom internet-based conferencing software on March 15, 2024. Ms. Magoo graduated from SMU with a BA in Philosophy with minors in History, Political Science, and Law and Legal Reasoning. Although born in Dallas, Texas, Ms. Magoo was raised in San Antonio by her immigrant parents, both of South Asian Punjabi heritage. Although immersed in their culture and Sikh faith, Ms. Magoo’s parents chose to assimilate their daughter into customs and traditions from the United States. Ms. Magoo attended St. Mary’s Hall, a preparatory school in the Alamo Heights region of San Antonio, where she decided on the legal profession as a career. Ms. Magoo applied to SMU, where her father received his master’s degree after immigrating to the United States. Upon arriving to SMU, Ms. Magoo felt an inviting atmosphere due to administration and faculty but felt isolated at times by her peers due to SMU being a PWI (Predominantly White Institution). Joining KDChi (Kappa Delta Chi) allowed her to meet other women of color, however. Working towards a career in law, Ms. Magoo became part of the Deason Scholars and was a research assistant with the Deason Criminal Justice Reform Center
Hamza Azeez Interview
No full textHamza Azeez (Class of 2023) was interviewed by Amanda Sun in the Norwick Center for Digital Solutions on April 24, 2024. Mr. Azeez graduated with a BBA in Management and is currently pursuing an MBA at Southern Methodist University. During his time at SMU, Mr. Azeez was actively involved in campus organizations. He served as secretary for Mustang Martial Arts and as an External Outreach Ambassador for the SMU Muslim Students Association (MSA), demonstrating his commitment to student life and community engagement. In addition to his academic achievements, Mr. Azeez has been working as a Fan Engagement Specialist for FC Dallas since June 2022, where he facilitates activities at home matches and events, enhancing the fan experience with exceptional customer service. Mr. Azeez’s diverse background, including his work as an independent musician and content creator, highlights his multifaceted skills and dedication to personal and professional growth. He looks forward to leveraging his MBA and extensive experience to further his career prospects and contribute meaningfully to his community
