    No full text
Ashish Doma (Class of 2024) was interviewed by Laura Narvaez via the Zoom internet-based conferencing software on June 6, 2024. Mr. Doma graduated with a BA in Psychology and minors in Environmental Engineering and Environmental Anthropology. Growing up in Irving, Texas, Mr. Doma was surrounded by a diverse community. Telugu defines his cultural family heritage: his parents hail from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, both in South India. Mr. Doma challenges people’s preconceptions and stereotypes of South Asians, such as when he excelled in various sports in high school. When he first applied to SMU, Mr. Doma sought to major in Environmental Engineering, but was quickly disillusioned with the program after negative experiences with the coursework and a professor. He switched to Psychology and became fascinated with positive psychology, which he used in all his work as a resident assistant and a leadership fellow. During his time at SMU, Mr. Doma was part of the Hilltop Scholars Program, the Boaz Commons Council, Connect Mentorship Program, Office of the Student Experience, South Asian Student Association, and Asian Council, among others. At time of recording, Mr. Doma had moved to New York to pursue an MA in Higher Education and Student Affairs at NYU

Ifeanyi Okuzor (Class of 2022) was interviewed by Michelle Ma in the Norwick Center for Digital Solutions in Fondren Library on the campus of SMU in Dallas, Texas on October 29, 2024. He received a Masters of Business Administration at SMU. Mr. Okuzor was born and raised in Nigeria. As a child, he lived through harsh circumstances, which made him resilient. When Mr. Okuzor was 11, his father received a scholarship in the US and moved to Texas, leaving his family in Nigeria. At the age of 17, Mr. Okuzor and his siblings moved to Texas to be with his father. After a year, Mr. Okuzor ended up attending a university that was not his initial choice. Due to a lack of financial support, Mr. Okuzor struggled a lot during his first year, which led him to join the military. His experience in the military brought about a knack for leadership. After four years of service, Mr. Okuzor went back to school at UNT through an Army ROTC program, where he completed his bachelor's degree. Upon graduation, he worked different jobs in the healthcare field, but ended up disliking the corporate structure. He preferred aspects of leadership more, so he decided to get an MBA to further his education. He chose SMU for their extensive alumni network, but due to Covid and other obstacles, felt that he didn't achieve the full extent of what SMU had to offer. In the future, he hopes to continue doing meaningful work and leave a lasting impact on the world

Tricia Tsang (Class of 2024) was interviewed by Michelle Ma in the Norwick Center for Digital Solutions on April 25, 2024. She received Bachelors' degrees in Psychology and Health and Society with a minor in Human Rights from SMU in the spring of 2024. Ms. Tsang was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where she lived with her mother, father, and older sibling. Growing up, Ms. Tsang had a very traditional East Asian upbringing, where her family greatly emphasized education. She spent a majority of her time studying and focusing on extracurriculars. This was heightened in high school when she attended a medical prep school that was extremely rigorous. She always knew that she wanted to study medicine in order to help others, but the idea that this could only be achieved by becoming a physician was challenged at SMU. Ms. Tsang found that the pre-med route wasn't the only way for her to do what she wanted to do, and now, she is discovering a new path for her future. She plans to pursue a Masters in Public Health, which she hopes will help her decide if she wants to continue on to medical school
