On the Credibility of the Euro/Swiss Franc Floor: A Financial Market Perspective
No full textWe estimate the risk-neutral break probabilities of a realignment of the
EUR/CHF 1.20 floor, maintained by the SNB from September 6, 2011, to
January 15, 2015, using put options and an option pricing model, which
assumes a lower barrier for the exchange rate. We estimate probabilities
considerably different from zero, even when the exchange rate traded far
above the floor. We observe a drastic increase in the break probabilities up to
approximately 50% shortly before the floor was abandoned. From an option
market perspective, the credibility of the SNB in maintaining the floor was,
thus, substantially lower than publicly claimed
On being guided – a typology of career guidance in EU discourses
No full textWith this article we want to illustrate how the central publications of the European Union legitimate a role of Career Guidance Services (CGS) that help in establishing a desired form of social order. Using the Sociology of Knowledge Approach to Discourse, we reconstructed four typical metaphorical conceptualisations of CGS that go along with desirable and taken-for-granted subject positions. The results reveal the assigned active role of CGS in establishing a specific vision of and in transforming the European society. We conclude by outlining the ways in which critique is expressed within the discourse and by highlighting the inherent ambivalences of these practices of critique

No full textDie Autorinnen und Autoren der Universitäten Kassel und Halle berichten über die Tagung "Arbeit inklusiv gestalten", die vom 8. bis 9. Mai 2017 in Berlin stattfand. Hauptthemen waren die sozialrechtlichen Instrumente zur Teilhabe am Arbeitsleben und die tatsächliche Situation auf dem Arbeitsmarkt für Menschen mit Beeinträchtigungen. In Arbeitsgruppen wurden die Themen Übergänge Schule in Ausbildung, Werkstatträte, stufenweise Wiedereingliederung, kollektive Rechtsdurchsetzung, Betriebliches Eingliederungsmanagement, Übergänge aus der Werkstatt und Inklusionsbetriebe sowie zur Bedarfsfeststellung und Teilhabeplanung vertiefend diskutiert
