Refining a dynamic framework for circular business models: lessons from an Industry Workshop series
No full textEstablishing holistic circular business practices that address the entire product life cycle is of critical importance in the current global context. Such approaches offer a strategic response to severe challenges such as resource scarcity, environmental degradation, and waste generation. This contribution presents a framework specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises, aimed at supporting the development of circular products, services, and business models, thereby emphasizing the relevance of systematic and comprehensible approaches. The iterative, multi-phase model facilitates an effective transition towards a circular economy, enhancing environmental resilience, resource efficiency, and other key circular aspects, while drawing on established circular paradigms. SoulGarden: a gamified meditation application to enhance meditation habits, enjoyment, mindfulness, and mental well-being
No full textMeditation can enhance mental well-being, but practicing meditation regularly can be challenging. In this work, we present SoulGarden - a gamified, web-based meditation app that draws on the narrative of personal growth, a guiding avatar and several progress-related mechanics to increase users' enjoyment in meditation and thereby enhance their meditation habits, mindfulness, and mental well-being. We conducted a within-subjects field study spanning four weeks (N=30) in which we evaluated the effectiveness of SoulGarden by comparing it to a non-gamified version and baseline measures. Our results show users meditated a lot using SoulGarden and the addition of gamification increased user enjoyment, frequency of meditation, and mindfulness. Thus, we contribute evidence for the potential of gamification to increase engagement and enhance mindfulness in meditation practices, ultimately paving the way to more effective mental health interventions

No full textDigitale, plattform-basierte Ökosysteme bilden das Fundament der wertvollsten Unternehmen weltweit. Diese Ökosysteme haben ein erhebliches wirtschaftliches aber auch disruptives Potenzial. Jedoch ist wirtschaftlicher Erfolg nicht ihr einziger Mehrwert. Durch die Vernetzung von Partnern und Kunden können Dienstleistungen und Produkte verbessert, Qualität gesteigert, Ressourcen gebündelt und Innovationen ermöglicht werden. Dies erfordert allerdings geeignete Geschäftsmodelle. Daher untersucht dieser Beitrag die Dynamik der Geschäftsmodellinnovation innerhalb digitaler, plattform-basierter Ökosysteme anhand einer Fallstudie aus dem Bereich des E-Learnings in der beruflichen Weiterbildung.
