„Saarland: Schön, dass du da bist!“ – Einleitung „Politik und Regieren im Saarland“
No full textDer Beitrag führt in den Sammelband „Politik und Regieren im Saarland“ ein. Er gliedert sich hierbei in drei Teile. Zunächst wird das Saarland als Untersuchungsgegenstand vorgestellt. Anschließend erfolgt die Verortung des Sammelbands in den (vergleichenden) Forschungsstand zu den Regierungssystemen der Bundesländer sowie den Policies im Bundesländervergleich. Abschließend werden die Systematik und der Aufbau des Sammelbands dargelegt und in die einzelnen Beiträge eingeführt. Dabei werden die zentralen Akteure und Institutionen ebenso vorgestellt wie zentrale ausgewählte Politikfelder. Das Saarland verfügt als jüngstes westdeutsches Bundesland über eine wechselhafte und spannende Geschichte. Hierbei ist der (bundes-)politische Einfluss des nach der Bevölkerungszahl zweitkleinsten Bundeslands – nach Bremen – nicht zu unterschätzen. So verfügt das Saarland nicht nur über die höchste Parteimitgliederdichte aller Bundesländer, sondern hat auch zahlreiche Politiker von bundespolitischer und -historischer Bedeutung hervorgebracht. Darüber hinaus steht es als (ehemaliges) traditionelles Kohle-, Stahl- und Industrieland mitten in einem bedeutsamen Transformationsprozess, den es unter anderem als Teil der Großregion mit der höchsten grenzüberschreitenden Mobilität von Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmern innerhalb der Europäischen Union zu meistern versucht
Economic Systems, Markets and Politics - An Ethical, Behavioral and Institutional Approach
No full textThis textbook takes a new approach to economics by taking into account behavioral sciences and ethics. The basics of institutional economics are the starting point of the book, which are combined with insights from business ethics and behavioral science. It analyzes human behavior in order to discover incentives for economic agents to behave in a welfare-maximizing way, and analyzes the impact of human behavior and morality on economic systems, markets and politics. This textbook draws from new research results from behavioral economics, as well as from other disciplines, such as psychology and sociology, thus leading to new conclusions for economic science. The book sheds light on how people behave and how such behavior can be guided towards moral welfare for everyone. Furthermore, the reader is introduced to behavioral games, and to how these can be used to study economic behavior. Each chapter contains a summary on behavioral science findings as well as one on ethical findings. This book is a must read for advanced students in economics and political science but can also be of use to researchers of economics, as well as policymakers and business executives due to its focus on applications
The relevance of basic psychological needs and subject interest as explanatory variables for student dropout in higher education — a German case study using the example of a cooperative education program
No full textStudent dropout in higher education is a challenge for higher education systems. In recent years, there has been an increasing focus on analyzing motivational aspects in order to counteract dropout. However, the detailed impact mechanisms and processes of motivation on dropout have not been sufficiently researched. For example, there is very little research analyzing the preconditions of motivation and their influence on motivation as well as their eventual influence on dropout. From the background of self-determination theory and the person-object theory of interest, this study analyzes the effects of satisfying the three basic psychological needs on dropout via subject interest. We use data from a cross-sectional design with N = 2662 cooperative students in their first academic year. Our analysis identifies a direct effect of relatedness and subject interest on dropout. Furthermore, indirect effects of satisfying basic psychological needs, specifically, autonomy and relatedness, on dropout via subject interest are noted. We evaluate our results in the context of the current state of research and discuss implications
Adressat/innen-Bilder in der Sozialen Arbeit. Das Beispiel der Kindheits- und Jugendbilder in der offenen Kinder- und Jugendarbeit
No full textIm vorliegenden Beitrag wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie sich die Differenz zwischen den normativen Forderungen einer Adressat/innen-Orientierung in der Sozialen Arbeit einerseits und den stellenweise defizitorientierten Adressierungsweisen sozialpädagogischer Fachkräfte andererseits erklären lässt. Einen Ansatz hierfür bieten mentale (lebensalterbezogene) Adressat/innen-Bilder, die aus der Aufschichtung biografischer Erfahrungen entstehen und eine spezifische Sichtweise auf z. B. Kindheit, Behinderung oder Familie prägen. Dieser Ansatz wird am Beispiel von Kindheits- und Jugendbildern ausgeführt und anhand eines konkreten Beispiels aus der Offenen Kinder- und Jugendarbeit empirisch plausibilisiert. Abschließend wird diskutiert, was sich aus den Ergebnissen für das Verhältnis von Adressat/innen-Orientierung als Fachkonzept und mentalen Adressat/innen-Bildern schlussfolgern lässt

No full textProducing and consuming live-streamed content is a growing trend attracting many people today. While the actual content that is streamed is diverse, one especially popular context is games. Streamers of gaming content broadcast how they play digital or analog games, attracting several thousand viewers at once. Previous scientific work has revealed that different motivations drive people to become viewers, which apparently impacts how they interact with the offered features and which streamers’ behaviors they appreciate. In this paper, we wanted to understand whether viewers’ motivations can be formulated as viewer types and systematically measured. We present an exploratory factor analysis (followed by a validation study) with which we developed a 25-item questionnaire assessing five different viewer types. In addition, we analyzed the predictive validity of the viewer types for existing and potential live stream features. We were able to show that a relationship between the assessed viewer type and preferences for streamers’ behaviors and features in a stream exists, which can guide fellow researchers and streamers to understand viewers better and potentially provide more suitable experiences
