Reduction of Floor Vibrations Using Wooden and Other Dampers
The vibration behaviour of floors is gaining increasing importance. As the cross-sections of long-span floors are often very material-intensive due to the vibration design, other methods to reduce the vibrations should be searched for. In bridge constructions, dampers are routinely used to reduce vibrations. Observations from our research indicate, that long-span floors have similarities to pedestrian bridges. Therefore, various dampers are tested on a large-span floor test bench. Following initial successes, the study is extended to investigate a total of four different damper configurations. The results demonstrate that dampers can significantly reduce vibrations at resonance frequencies. However, no clear trend is observed for the mitigation of transient vibrations

Toward a Holistic Perspective on Data-Driven Organizations: A Mixed Method Approach
Establishing and transforming into a data-driven organization (DDO) presents significant opportunities and challenges for modern enterprises. This study explores DDOs using a mixed-method approach and is grounded in the socio-technical systems theory. Applying the hexagonal model from Clegg et al. (2017), the research investigates the dynamic interactions between people, culture, goals, infrastructure, processes, and technology and adds a strategy dimension. An overarching management perspective for DDOs is then developed. Therefore, the study addresses three research questions: (1) the current state of literature on DDOs, (2) the identification of subcategories within Clegg’s (2017) socio-technical framework based on a systematic literature review and (3) deriving empirical insights from 16 qualitative interviews conducted in a German multinational enterprise. By collecting current research results, the study finds the interdependencies of the socio-technical dimensions and the need for ‘joint optimization’ within the socio-technical system. The findings highlight the opportunity to take a holistic view of a data-driven organization within the systems theory and the interviews conducted underlines this approach. By combining these findings, we contribute to both theoretical advancements in the understanding of DDOs and practical guidance for managers. Both can be used by scholars and practitioners to engage in research about DDOs or drive transformation towards a DDO

Erfolgreich eingesetztes Technisches Monitoring kann einen fließenden Übergang vom Konzept über die Ausführung bis zum kontinuierlichen Betrieb von Gebäuden schaffen. Aktuell liegen noch keine empirischen Erkenntnisse über Umfang und Effektivität in der praktischen Anwendung vor. Im Rahmen eines Forschungsprojektes werden die breitgefächerten Erfahrungen und das vielfältige anekdotische Wissen über Qualitätsdefizite am Bau erfasst, analysiert und auf eine wissenschaftlich fundierte Basis gestellt.Successfully implemented technical monitoring can create a smooth transition from concept to realisation to the continuous operation of buildings. There are currently no empirical findings on the scope and effectiveness of its practical application. As part of a research project, the wide-ranging experiences and diverse anecdotal knowledge about quality deficits in construction are being recorded, analysed and placed on a scientifically sound basis
