Current situation and issues based on survey of attitude of football coach training course participants
Get PDFIn the study, a survey on the content of the JFA C-level coaching course was conducted with 113 participants. The purpose was to provide basic data and to enhance the course. We found the following results. 1)The largest group of course participants are males in their 20s who had been playing soccer for more than 10 years. They had been coaching for less then 5 years or had no experience of coaching. The next largest group consisted of males in their 30s who became a coach when their child started playing soccer. Among the participants there were also those who had never played soccer. 2)The participants were mostly positive about the content of the coaching course. However, several participants found it hard to master the coaching skills. 3) The Internet will turn out to be the main source of reference materials in the future. In addition, inexperienced players and coaches may not have a community where they can discuss opinions about coaching. We would like to suggest two points for improve ment of the coaching course.departmental bulletin pape
Trends of Diversity and Reconciliation in 21st Century Broadway Award-Winning Productions
Get PDFThe award-winning American plays are representative symbols of their respective eras. Not only are Broadway productions of the finest productions, including revivals, that have been well-received in regional and small-theater productions and have achieved box-office success, but their narrative topics, staging, and casting methods also reflect the social conditions of the times in which they were produced. This paper will analyze the characteristics and trends of award-winning Broadway productions in the 21st century, from 2001 to 2022, in terms of narrative content, writers, and production methods. In the process of analysis, it becomes clear that there are several specific diversity-accepting tendencies in award-winning productions: race, ethnicity, gender, economic disparity, war, suicide and drug addiction, the Internet society, loneliness and the search for identity, and so forth. In recent years, influenced by the spread of the pandemic that resulted in long-term theater closures, Black Lives Matter (BLM), gender, ethnicity, LGBTQ, immigrants, disability, and #MeToo, the rise of conservative and other related themes and visual representations have become prominent. Publicness in popular culture: Fan practices as a tool of gap-filling and resistance
Get PDFThis paper analyzes the publicness in the fan practices of the Korean idol group, BTS. 2 case studies of fan activities on social media and secondary sources from news articles were analyzed. This paper focuses on the communications practiced by BTS’s fans and the discovery that through online fan activities, fans achieve the assimilation of social divisions and demonstrated signs of resistance toward the establishment. The Development of Chiral Dopants with High Helical Twisting Power for Nematic Liquid Crystals:the Case of Ruthenium-Curcumin Complex
Get PDFChiral nematic phase can be easily induced by doping chiral dopants into the nematic phase. This phenomenon has been known and utilized for various optical devices. However, it is still an outstanding issue to rationally predict the helical structure, including the helical sense and pitch, from the molecular structure of a dopant. We here report the development of new chiral dopants with ∆, Λ chiral framework. One of the developed dopants, Ru-2, was found to exhibit both fairly high helical twisting power and high solubility to host nematic liquid crystals. Syllable-Final Realization of “Can” by Japanese Learners of English
Get PDFThis study aims to develop a set of effective and efficient training programs to help learners to produce intelligible pronunciation of their second languages. According to the previous studies, one of the phonetic differences between can and canʼt is that can has a clear long nasal consonant in syllable-final position (/kVn/ or /kn/), and Japanese learners of English produce can both with the consonant (/kVn/) and without it (/kṼ /). The phenomena could be because of the influence of the phonological characteristics of the mora nasal (/N/) in Japanese, which can be realized as a nasalized vowel depending on the following sound. The present study re-examined the syllable-final realization of can produced by Japanese learners of English using a learner corpus and compared the sounds which followed /kVn/ and those which followed /kṼ /. The results showed that when a vowel or a glottal stop followed can, it was produced without a clear nasal consonant in syllable-final position (/kṼ /) more frequently than with the consonant (/kVn/). As an example of the instructions of the training programs, it is suggested that Japanese learners should pronounce “can nenjoy” for “can enjoy” to avoid pronouncing can without a nasal consonant.departmental bulletin pape
