Analysis of the Intracellular Genomic Binding Region of Nuclear Transport Factor Importin α
No full textA nuclear transport factor of eukaryotes, importin α, transports multiple cargo proteins into the nucleus. Recently,
we have shown that importin α binds directly to DNA. importin α can interact with multiple DNA sequences via
electrostatic interactions and bind to cargo proteins and DNA simultaneously. Therefore, importin α is expected to have
multiple effects on chromatin. However, it is unclear how importin α acts in which genomic regions of cells. In this study,
we investigated the genomic regions to which importin α binds in vivo. Chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing
(ChIP-seq) analysis showed that importin α binds to multiple genomic regions in the cells. In addition, we tried to
characterize the importin α binding regions by histone post-translational modifications.departmental bulletin pape
