民間地図製作者 木崎盛政 : 特に前半の経歴について
Get PDF本稿は，研究があまり進んでいない日本の近代民間地図史の中で，20世紀前半，地図製作の中心であったと考えられる木崎盛政を取り上げる。木崎に関する辻野の従来の研究を踏まえ，新たな資料により，木崎の特に前半の経歴を明らかにする。彼は，慶応3年，山形に生まれ，明治17年，師範学校中等師範学科を卒業する。小学校の教員になるが，1年半勤めて退職する。明治19年夏上京し，陸軍士官学校に入学しようと成城学校で1学期間勉強したが，陸軍士官学校の入学制度が変更される。それで，明治20年春から桜川小学校の教員になる。同年秋，陸軍士官候補生の試験に落ちたが，直後に陸軍部測量局の修技生試験に合格して，明治21年1 月採用される。明治22年12月修技所を卒業し，同日，陸地測量部の陸地測量手に任官する。陸地測量部には明治29年末まで在籍したと思われる。その一方で，遅くとも明治28年末頃には，民間地図製作に携わるようになる。昭和20年3月，78歳で死去する。This study focuses on Kisaki Morimasa, considered a key cartographer in the first half of the 20th century in the history of modern Japanese private cartography, a field that has not been well researched. Based on Tsujino’s previous research on Kisaki, new sources clarify Kisaki’s career, particularly during the first half of his life. He was born in Yamagata in 1867 and graduated from a teacher’s school in 1884. He became an elementary school teacher, but resigned after one and a half years of service. In the summer of 1886, he moved to Tokyo and attempted to enter the Military Academy by studying at Seijo School for one semester, but the admission system changed. He became a teacher at Sakuragawa Elementary School in the spring of 1887. In the fall of the same year, he failed the Army Officer Candidate Examination. But he passed the trainee examination for the Survey Bureau of the Army Department, and was hired in January 1888. He graduated from the training school in December 1889 and was appointed a land surveyor in the Land Survey Department on the same day. He was believed to have remained there until the end of 1896.
