    2000 yearbook from Runnels School. Runnels School, founded by Dr. L.K. Runnels, is one of the oldest independent, non-profit, non-sectarian, co-ed schools in Baton Rouge. The school first opened its doors to preschoolers in 1965 in a house off of Highland Road. The school expanded to include elementary aged children in 1970 with the inclusion of several new building sites. The sites included buildings on Lee Drive, Goodwood Blvd., Jefferson Hwy, and South Harrell's Ferry Rd.. The Junior and Senior High Schools were added in 1983. The school has now placed children 2 years of age to pre-k at their Jefferson Hwy location and K through 12 grade at the South Harrell's Ferry location

    Catholic High School was originally known under the name St. Vincent's Academy created by the congregation of the Brothers of the Secret Heart in 1894. As the student body grew, new facilities were constructed on North and 4th streets. It was during this time of transition (1929) that the school name was changed to Catholic High School. The school was moved to its current location at Hearthstone Drive in 1957
