LETHE: A Saturation-Based Tool for Non-Classical Reasoning
We present the saturation-based reasoning system LETHE.LETHE is a tool that can be used for uniform interpolation, forgetting,TBox abduction and logical difference. To solve these problems, LETHEuses saturation-based reasoning to eliminate certain symbols from an ontology,such that entailments in the remaining vocabulary are preserved.This is known as forgetting or uniform interpolation. LETHE is an implementationof our forgetting methods for various expressive descriptionlogics, and can be used as a Java library and as a standalone tool forthe mentioned reasoning tasks. We give a high level description of thecalculi used by LETHE, describe the reasoning algorithm implemented inLETHE, and give an evaluation of the system on realistic ontologies

Secrecy outage probability of cooperative network through distributed Alamouti code
Abstract--- The cooperative diversity technique combined with distributed space-time coding can efficiently improve the secrecy capacity and transmission reliability of wireless communication systems. In this paper, a multicast cooperative relaying system based on distributed Alamouti space-time coding was considered, in order to jam an eavesdropper from accessing source data. A maximum likelihood (ML) decoder at the destination was chosen to receive the data. However, the ML decoder could not receive data at the eavesdropper's location as the channel was unknown to the eavesdropper. An analysis was carried out to synchronize DSTC, a Rayleigh fading channel, a Rician fading channel and a combination thereof. It was assumed that channel state information (CSI) for the relay-destination link was known. However, it was unknown for the relay-eavesdropper link. The analytical and theoretical results of secrecy outage probability for the proposed scheme were compared with existing results
Eighth National GP Worklife Survey
National surveys of General Practitioner (GP) working conditions and attitudes to primary care reforms have been undertaken by the University of Manchester in 1998, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2012. We undertook the eighth survey in this series in the spring and summer of 2015.The surveys provide a consistent series over a long period on GP job satisfaction, stressors, hours of work and intentions to quit. Each survey has a nationally-representative, cross-sectional element and a longitudinal element. In 2015, there were 1,172 respondents in the cross-sectional element and 1,576 respondents in the longitudinal element. This report highlights key findings from the survey and makes comparisons with previous surveys.Job satisfactionThe level of overall job satisfaction reported by GPs in 2015 was lower than in all surveys undertaken since 2001. On a seven-point scale (‘extremely dissatisfied’ (=1) to ‘extremely satisfied’ (=7)), average satisfaction had declined from 4.5 points in 2012 to 4.1 points in 2015 in the cross-sectional samples and by a similar magnitude in the longitudinal sample. The largest decreases in job satisfaction between 2012 and 2015 were in the domains relating to ‘hours of work’ and ‘remuneration’. Satisfaction with colleagues and fellow workers had improved relative to 2012.Hours of workRespondents to the 2015 survey reported working an average of 41.4 hours per week. This is a small (0.3 hours) decrease compared to the 2012 survey. Fewer GPs reported that their practice offered extended hours access at the weekend (31% versus 32%) and on weekdays (72% versus 76%) than in 2012. The reported proportion of time (62%) devoted to direct patient care was the same as in 2012.Stressors and job attributesIn 2015, GPs reported most stress due to ‘increasing workloads’ and ‘changes to meet requirements of external bodies’ and least stress due to ‘finding a locum’ and ‘interruptions from emergency calls during surgery’. Reported levels of stress increased between 2012 and 2015 on all 14 stressors. The increases were generally in the range 0.2 to 0.5 points on a five-point scale. Reported levels of stress are now at their highest since the beginning of the National GP Worklife Survey series in 1998.Many attributes of GPs’ jobs had changed very little between 2012 and 2015. In 2015, the proportion of respondents reporting that they ‘have to work very intensively’ was 95%. Eight-nine percent of respondents reported that they ‘have to work very fast’. Fewer than 10% of respondents thought that ‘recent changes to their job had led to better patient care’.Intentions to quitThe proportion of GPs expecting to quit direct patient care in the next five years had increased from 8.9% in 2012 to 13.1% in 2015 amongst GPs under 50 years-old and from 54.1% in 2012 to 60.9% in 2015 amongst GPs aged 50 years and over.ConclusionsThe 2015 results continue the trends observed in recent waves of the National GP Worklife Survey. The 2015 respondents reported the lowest levels of job satisfaction amongst GPs since before the introduction of their new contract in 2004, the highest levels of stress since the start of the survey series, and an increase since three years ago in the proportion of GPs intending to quit direct patient care within the next five years

Application of Liquid Crystal Thermography for the Investigation of the Near-Wall Coherent Structures in a Turbulent Boundary Layer
In this paper, Liquid Crystal Thermography is used to characterise the near-wall coherent structures in a turbulent boundary layer at low Reynolds numbers. The experiments are carried out in a water tunnel at u∞ = 0.12 m/s, in a zero-pressure-gradient turbulent boundary layer at Reθ = 430. A comparison of the frequency response of the liquid crystal coating with that of a constant temperature anemometer shows that the technique is able to capture the flow fluctuations caused by the large turbulent scales in the near-wall region, up to a non-dimensional frequency of f+ ≈ 0.01. This technique is also used to deduce the properties of the streamwise streaks in the viscous sublayer. The results are in agreement with the literature demonstrating the potential of this novel method for studying near-wall turbulence. Finally, the validity of Taylor's hypothesis is also examined using our liquid crystal data
Designing Emotion-Centred Product Service Systems:
Product Service Systems (PSS) designers are increasingly signaling the importance of emotion. However, emotion is yet to be theoretically and empirically studied in PSS design. This paper offers a conceptual model as well as an in-depth field study of the design of an emotion-centred PSS. While the analysis is inductive, it draws on related concepts from structural appraisal theory and structuration theory to further conceptualise the findings. The notion of ‘emotional chain reactions’ in the stimulation of user agency is put forward, producing implications for PSS design theory and practice. For the latter we suggest an emotion-based blueprinting technique
Combined Multiuser Acoustic Communication and Localisation System for uAUVs Operating in Confined Underwater Environments
This paper describes a communication and localization system for micro-autonomous underwater vehicles (µAUVs) undertaking monitoring and mapping tasks in nuclear storage ponds. A distinctive feature of this underwater environment is the severe multipath propagation and long reverberation times. The paper describes how a common code division multiplexed signal format is used to mitigate the acoustic channel impairments to achieve both communication and localization. The system consists of an onshore base-station, equipped with a four-element distributed transceiver antenna, and underwater acoustic modems installed in the µAUVs. The system simultaneously provides positioning of a swarm of µAUVs, with addressed transmission of navigation commands from the base-station to µAUVs, and telemetry data transmission to the base-station from the µAUV
