Dynamics of Land, Ocean, and Atmospheric Parameters Associated with Tauktae Cyclone
No full textDuring the pre- and post-monsoon season, the eastern and western coasts are highly vulnerable to cyclones. The tropical cyclone “Tauktae” formed in the Arabian Sea on 14 May 2021 and moved along the west coast of India, and landfall occurred on 17 May 2021. During the cyclone, the maximum wind speed was 220 km/h with a pressure of 935 mb affecting meteorological, atmospheric parameters, and weather conditions of the northern and central parts of India causing devastating damage. Analysis of satellite, Argo, and ground data show pronounced changes in the oceanic, atmospheric, and meteorological parameters associated during the formation and landfall of the cyclone. During cyclone generation (before landfall), the air temperature (AT) was maximum (30.51 °C), and winds (220 km/h) were strong with negative omega values (0.3). The relative humidity (RH) and rainfall (RF) were observed to be higher at the location of the cyclone formation in the ocean and over the landfall location, with an average value of 81.28% and 21.45 mm/day, respectively. The concentration of total column ozone (TCO), CO volume mixing ratio (COVMR), H2O mass mixing ratio (H2O MMR), aerosol parameters (AOD, AE) and air quality parameter (PM) was increased over land and along the cyclone track, leading to a deterioration in the air quality. The strong wind mixes the air mass from the surroundings to the local anthropogenic emissions, and causing strong mixing of the aerosols. The detailed results show a pronounced change in the ocean, land, meteorological, and atmospheric parameters showing a strong land–ocean-atmosphere coupling associated with the cyclone

The descriptions of the pitiful Goddess Ishtar being stripped of her regalia and adornments passing each gate and how God Ea had cunningly come to her rescue are to distract the truth of Ereshkigal, in her loneliness and bitterness of her fate. While her sister, adorned with lapis beads across her neck and body draped in royal robes, Ereshkigal, is naked, only covered in the ashes of her land.
Ishtar was given the power of fertility and sexuality; she is useful in a world that requires children to continue the family line and sexuality to be for the delight of men. Ereshkigal’s power comes when life has ended; when all valuables, money, and possessions are no longer, and the only period of their existence is unknown and uncontrollable. Peacing it Together: Post 9/11 Enlisted Student Veterans’ Awakening to Peace Leadership
Get PDFStudent veterans face a spectrum of socialization challenges intrapersonally, interpersonally, in communities, and structurally due to the cultural differences between the military and college. More comprehensive programs that individually and collectively address these challenges need to be developed, and it has become apparent that a new model needs to be evaluated. A peer-based learning program, the Peace Practice Alliance (PPA), is grounded in an integral peace leadership framework, including innerwork, knowledge, community, and environment. With student veterans facing these challenges, such as feeling misunderstood, isolating themselves, and filtering communication among younger students, the PPA program will meet student veterans where they are in their struggle.
This study sought to understand enlisted student veterans\u27 perspectives on integral peace leadership and the usefulness of a framework-based program to help them integrate into college. Outcomes evaluation served as the guiding methodological framework. Pre-interviews, post-interviews, journals, and discussion notes were the data collection methods with five participants who participated in a hybrid four-week program. Constructivist grounded theory was the principal data analysis method utilized for analyzing the collected data. Findings indicated that formerly deployed post-9/11 enlisted student veterans found value in addressing preconceived psychological and social barriers both individually and collectively in the PPA for their continued transition into and navigation through college. The unanticipated formation of a community transformed student veteran participants\u27 mindsets toward themselves and others and created a sense of feeling more prepared to interact with others, resulting in collective action toward a positive change for student veterans on campus. Navigating Islamophobia: Exploring Attitudes Towards Muslim Immigration and Policing
Get PDFSince the September 11th terrorist attacks, Islamophobic dispositions in the United States have surged within its political and societal arenas. In this paper, I will examine two specific dimensions of Islamophobia such as ceasing immigration from Muslim countries and increased police presence in Muslim neighborhoods and how those behaviors may be influenced by political affiliation and different ways news is consumed using social media and cable news. Relying on the Chapman Survey of American Fears, a representative national sample of U.S. adults completed a forty-question survey in which I tested the above independent variables to see their individual effects on the two dimensions of Islamophobia being researched. Among the interesting findings were that many respondents who identified as Republicans agreed that there should be increased police presence in Muslim neighborhoods and the United States should cease all immigration from Muslim countries, proving a noticeable correlation between the political affiliation and Islamophobia. It was also discovered that cable news and news derived from social media may not have as big of a factor on influencing Islamophobia as I had expected. Understanding Islamophobia, the role it plays in American politics and society, and the major influencers of this hateful behavior are crucial towards preserving the freedom and equality of all individuals in the United States

This piece is about a gifted child and the process of burning out due to high standards and changes in their environment. Often, the gifted child thrives in k-12 school, easily earning As and appeasing their parents and teachers, becoming a star but over time they begin to burn themselves on the self and imposed, constantly rising standards and begin to have a difficult time and cannot keep up. It is very common for a gifted child to arrive at higher education and be unable to succeed because they never learned how to study in class leading them to drop out or fail desperately. The metaphor I\u27ve placed is that the gifted child is much like a candle, burning until it is exhausted and is then discarded as trash because it can no longer provide a service.
For creating the collage I chose a lot of candles to convey that metaphor, I also chose the genre of the Pieta position for the statue because I wanted to show a relationship between the parent and the gifted (Madonna and child), to demonstrate how high standards also come from parents. I included a picture of the fallen angel and a falling star to illustrate how they fall from the graces of society once they no longer astonish people with their intelligence and skill
