WHEREAS, an educated citizenry is the requisite for a free and
democratic society; and
WHEREAS, the doors of Central Piedmont Community College are open
to all adults seeking to further their education; and thus the
dream of a college education can be a reality for any person who
chooses to pursue it; and
WHEREAS, many do choose to follow that dream, and they become not
only our doctors, lawyers and teachers, but also our plumbers,
electricians, and mechanics; and
WHEREAS, for twenty-five years, Central Piedmont Connnunity College
has helped the citizens of Charlotte achieve their potential as
productive members of our free society;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sue Myrick, Mayor of Charlotte, do hereby
proclaim Wednesday, May 18, 1988 as
CENTRAL PIEDMONT COMMUNITY COLLEGE
SILVER ANNIVERSARY DAY
IN Charlotte, and commend this observance to all our citizens.

shall be passed stipulating the amount. Dues are to be
