of wind turbines, it has not sufficiently addressed strategies to mitigate their impact. This study examines a leading turbine manufacturer
with a
strong
environmental
management
record
to
explore
solutions.
Life
cycle
thinking
has
optimised
manufacturing,
reduced
environmental
impacts
during
installation
and
operation,
improved
maintenance,
extended
lifespan
and
supported
turbine
decommissioning.
However,
its
effectiveness
is
hindered
by
several
challenges.
Continuous
improvement
is
not
fully
embedded
in
processes.
Barriers
include
limited
environmental
awareness
among
design
teams
and
executives,
resistance
to
change
and
the
absence
of
clear
criteria
for
selecting
tools.
Poor
data
quality
and
transparency
across
the
value
chain
also
complicate
life
cycle
assessments.
To
address
these
issues,
this
study
recommends
developing
new
eco-
design
criteria,
training
teams,
applying
change
management
strategies
and
improving
data
tools
and
access.
Dynamic
life
cycle
assessments
can
reduce
costs
and
reporting
time,
while
enhancing
communication
strategies
can
increase
customer
awareness
of
environmental
benefits.
Public
administration
must
support
‘green’
markets
by
implementing
strategic
plans
with a
more
ambitious
legislation.
These
measures
will
advance
product
development,
reduce
environmental
impact
across
the
life
cycle
and
strengthen
both
corporate
strategies
and
public
policy
Synthesis, characterisation, and thermal degradation kinetics of lignin-based polyurethane wood adhesives
Polyurethane adhesives are widely employed in a range of industrial applications due to their exceptional bonding strength, flexibility, and chemical resistance. These materials play a crucial role in wood bonding technologies, where their versatility and durability make them ideal for creating strong, long-lasting joints. In this work, Four different polyurethane wood adhesives were synthesised using ligno-based bio-polyols obtained through microwave assisted liquefaction reaction of two wood species (hardwood and softwood) using polyethylene glycol and glycerol as solvents. The reaction conditions used for the synthesis of bio-polyols were optimised in a previous work. The synthesis of polyurethanes was carried out by one-shot method using Tetrahydrofuran (THF) as solvent and MDI as diisocyanate employing different NCO:OH ratios (2.0:1, 2.5:1, and 3.0:1). The chemical structure of polyurethanes was determined through ATR-FTIR and the shear strength was analysed using Automated Bonding Evaluation System (ABES) employing beech veneer strips. Through ABES it was concluded that an NCO:OH ratio of 2.5:1 was the formulation that showed the best shear strength for a pressing time of 120 s. Employing this ratio and the same synthesis procedure, two new polyurethanes were synthesised with the bio-polyols obtained using crude glycerol instead commercial glycerol. Finally, a study of thermal degradation kinetics employing the Ozawa–Flynn–Wall (OFW) and Kissinger–Akahira–Sunose (KAS) isoconversional methods of the polyurethanes synthesised with an NCO:OH ratio of 2.5:1 was carried out. On the one hand, the Ea of each system were estimated for the different α ratios, obtaining slightly higher values for the adhesives produced using commercial glycerol than crude glycerol. In addition, the pre-exponential factor was determined, enabling an estimation of the lifetime of the polymers. This study highlights demonstrated that crude glycerol could replace commercial glycerol without compromising adhesive properties. 520 p.Esta investigación plantea la necesidad de reformular los procesos creativos en un contexto de inmediatez, estrés e hiperproductividad. A pesar de la creciente integración de la sostenibilidad en el diseño, las metodologías creativas no han evolucionado hacia prácticas más pausadas, reflexivas y alineadas con valores éticos. Desde esta perspectiva, se propone fomentar la conexión entre los procesos internos de los diseñadores/as, la intuición y la emoción, promoviendo una creación más coherente y significativa.Las preguntas de investigación se centran en cómo el Slow Design puede anticiparse a los impactos de los productos y en cómo mejorar la autoconciencia en los procesos creativos. La hipótesis plantea que la integración del Slow Design y el Ashtanga Yoga, dentro del pensamiento complejo y sistémico, evitan la estandarización y potencian creaciones genuinas.Se utilizó una metodología de Investigación Acción Participativa (IAP) con enfoque cualitativo y cuantitativo, aplicada a estudiantes y profesionales del diseño. La metodología proyectual Slow Creativity, ha demostrado un impacto transformador en los procesos creativos, con aplicaciones en múltiples sectores creativos. Su contribución radica en la generación de un marco teórico-práctico replicable que integra la meditación como herramienta clave, fomentando la autoconciencia intuitiva y reflexiva. SecOps e Intel: Integración entre Google SecOps y FortiRecon y automatización de casos de uso para tratar alertas
[ES] En este trabajo, se lleva a cabo el diseño y desarrollo de una solución cuyo objetivo es mejorar la detección y gestión de amenazas digitales, facilitando que las alertas generadas por la plataforma FortiRecon puedan visualizarse y tratarse desde el entorno de operaciones de seguridad de Google SecOps. De este modo, se centraliza la información procedente de distintas fuentes en un único entorno de análisis, lo que permite aplicar reglas de automatización y respuesta de forma más eficaz.
Para lograrlo, se ha analizado el funcionamiento de FortiRecon y sus principales módulos, así como los casos de uso más representativos en un entorno real. Posteriormente, se ha diseñado e implementado una integración que permite enviar las alertas de FortiRecon a Google SecOps, donde pueden ser gestionadas, correladas y respondidas de manera centralizada. Esta solución permite reducir el tiempo de análisis y respuesta, al mismo tiempo que mejora la visibilidad y el control sobre amenazas relevantes.

This solution centralises information from different sources in a single analysis environment, allowing automation and response rules to be applied more effectively.
To achieve this, the operation of FortiRecon and its main modules has been analysed, as well as the most representative use cases in a real environment. Subsequently, an integration has been designed and implemented that allows FortiRecon alerts to be sent to Google SecOps, where they can be managed, correlated and responded to in a centralised manner. This solution reduces analysis and response time while improving visibility and control over relevant threats.
The developed solution provides a functional tool that contributes to the operational efficiency of the security team and the automation of repetitive tasks, allowing cybersecurity experts to focus on more complex incidents
Relación de las competencias emocionales del profesorado con la ansiedad, el rendimiento académico y las competencias emocionales de Educación Primaria
Numerosos estudios han destacado la relevancia de las competencias emocionales en la labor docente y en el desarrollo del alumnado. Sin embargo, son pocos los que analizan cómo estas competencias en el profesorado influyen en el bienestar, el rendimiento académico y el desarrollo emocional de los estudiantes. El presente estudio evalúa las competencias emocionales del profesorado y su relación con variables clave en el alumnado de Educación
Primaria: competencias emocionales, ansiedad y rendimiento académico. La muestra incluye 118 docentes y 1676 alumnos de educación primaria de diferentes centros educativos de España. Se utilizó un diseño cuantitativo no experimental, con análisis descriptivo y comparativo-causal ex-post-facto a través del software SPSS en su versión 28.0. Los instrumentos aplicados fueron el Cuestionario de Desarrollo Emocional (CDE-A-35), el Cuestionario de Desarrollo Emocional (CDE 9-13), la Escala de Observación de Competencias emocionales, la Escala de Ansiedad en Niños (CAS), el Inventario de Ansiedad estado-rasgo
en Niños (STAIC) y el promedio global de calificaciones. Los resultados evidencian que no existen correlaciones significativas entre las competencias emocionales del profesorado y las de sus estudiantes en los cursos iniciales, mientras que en los cursos superiores de Educación Primaria sí muestran una asociación significativa. Además, las competencias emocionales del profesorado correlacionan significativamente y de manera negativa con la ansiedad del alumnado en los cursos más avanzados. A pesar de no haberse identificado una relación directa entre competencias emocionales del docente y el rendimiento académico
del alumnado, los resultados destacan la importancia de promover el desarrollo de dichas competencias tanto en docentes como en estudiantes. Poly (I:C)-induced maternal immune activation generates impairment of reversal learning performance in offspring
Maternal immune activation (MIA) induces a variety of behavioral and brain abnormalities in offspring of rodent models, compatible with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as schizophrenia or autism. However, it remains controversial whether MIA impairs reversal learning, a basic expression of cognitive flexibility that seems to be altered in schizophrenia. In the present study, MIA was induced by administration of a single dose of polyriboinosinic-polyribocytidylic acid (Poly (I:C) (5 mg/kg i.p.)) or saline to mouse pregnant dams in gestational day (GD) 9.5. Immune activation was monitored through changes in weight and temperature. The offspring were evaluated when they reached adulthood (8 weeks) using a touchscreen-based system to investigate the effects of Poly (I:C) on discrimination and reversal learning performance. After an initial pre-training, mice were trained to discriminate between two different stimuli, of which only one was rewarded (acquisition phase). When the correct response reached above 80% values for two consecutive days, the images were reversed (reversal phase) to assess the adaptation capacity to a changing environment. Maternal Poly (I:C) treatment did not interfere with the learning process but induced deficits in reversal learning compared to control saline animals. Thus, the accuracy in the reversal phase was lower, and Poly (I:C) animals required more sessions to complete it, suggesting impairments in cognitive flexibility. This study advances the knowledge of how MIA affects behavior, especially cognitive domains that are impaired in schizophrenia. Critical educommunication: education, dialog, and public policies
El artículo analiza el potencial dialógico-crítico de la educomunicación para fomentar el pensamiento crítico. A través de entrevistas a expertos, cuestionarios aplicados a 141 estudiantes de Educación y Comunicación de la UPV/EHU y el análisis de los datos con NVIVO, se identificaron cuatro áreas clave: conceptualización, educomunicación crítica, potencial humanista y políticas públicas. Se destaca la urgencia de integrar competencias mediáticas críticas en los planes educativos mediante la implementación de políticas públicas y la formación docente. Se concluye que la educomunicación crítica, dialógica y reflexiva es esencial para transformar la relación con los medios de comunicación y prevenir los desórdenes informativos.This article analyzes the dialogic–critical potential of educommunication to foster critical thinking. On the basis of interviews with experts and questionnaires sent to 141 Education and Communication students at UPV/EHU, analysis using NVIVO identified four key areas: conceptualization, critical educommunication, humanistic potential, and public policies. The analysis highlights the urgency of integrating critical media competencies into educational curricula by implementing public policies and teacher training. We conclude that critical, dialogic, and reflexive educommunication is essential to transform the relationship with the media and prevent information disorders
Immortalized human hair follicle-derived mesenchymal-like stromal cells for the long-term production of scalable immunomodulatory and regenerative secretome
Background: Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) exert therapeutic effects primarily through their secretome, rich in bioactive factors with immunomodulatory and regenerative properties. However, clinical application of MSC-derived secretome is hindered by donor variability, limited expansion, and replicative senescence. To address these issues, we developed immortalized human hair follicle-derived mesenchymal-like stromal cells (iHF-MSCs) as a consistent and scalable source of therapeutic secretome.
Methods: HF-MSCs were isolated using a minimally invasive procedure and immortalized with lentiviral SV40 large T antigen. From 576 single-cell clones, C18 and C26 were selected based on proliferation capacity, absence of senescence, and retention of a mesenchymal-like phenotype. Characterization included RT-PCR, flow cytometry for surface markers, trilineage differentiation, and CD56 expression analysis. For immunomodulatory evaluation, cells were licensed with IFN-γ and TNF-α, and the resulting conditioned media (licensed CM) were analyzed by ELISA and cytokine arrays. PBMC proliferation and Treg induction were assessed using licensed CM, while unlicensed CM was tested for its regenerative effects on dermal and epidermal cell functions, including wound repair, tube formation assay as an indicator of angiogenic potential, and oxidative stress response.
Results: The selected clones (C18 and C26) exhibited long-term stability, rapid expansion, and preserved mesenchymal-like phenotype and multipotency. Secretome profiling revealed an enriched composition of immunoregulatory (e.g., Gal-9, IL-1Ra, TSG-6) and pro-regenerative (e.g., VEGF, PDGF-AA, EGF) factors, with enhanced responsiveness to inflammatory licensing. Notably, iHF-MSCs maintained low immunogenicity and demonstrated superior functional performance: inhibition of PBMC proliferation, Treg induction, and promotion of skin cell proliferation, migration, tube formation, and oxidative stress protection.
Conclusion: These results position iHF-MSCs as a robust and scalable platform for consistent production of therapeutic secretome, paving the way for innovative, cell-free immunomodulatory and regenerative therapies.This work was supported by Grant PID2021-122577OB-I00 funded by MCIN/AEI/ https://doi.org/10.13039/501100011033 and by “ERDF A way of making Europe”. Conceptualising identity, nostalgia and resistance: activism by the iranian diaspora in spain (1979-2024)
559 p.This thesis has analysed the discourses and strategies of resistance and solidarity of Iranians in Spain, in their transnational social and political connections with civil resistance struggles related to socio-political conflicts in Iran, from 1979 until 2024. This investigation has placed attention on three sites of concern, seeing them as interrelated: 1) the nostalgia, memory and trauma related to the Iranian political scene felt from a distance; 2) the construction and negotiation regarding home and belonging; and 3) practices of resistance and solidarity in the diaspora. This study has centred on the stories of migrants that have left Iran after the Islamic Revolution of 1979 and shows the connection of this diaspora to socio-political conflicts in the homeland. This work has included the analysis of 39 semi-structured interviews carried out to first and second-generation Iranians in Spain between 2019 and 2024. The main conclusions of this work demonstrate that 1) civil resistance struggles in Iran have shown a continuity since the XIX century until today; 2) the Iranian diaspora in the West has been supporting Iranian civil society during civil resistance struggles since the first wave of migration and; 3) the Iranian diaspora in Spain is politically fragmented, in the same way as in other countries, and supports civil resistance struggles in Iran via human rights advocacy
Exploring the pathways linking prenatal and early childhood greenness exposure to attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder symptoms during childhood: An approach based on robust causal inference
Background
Epidemiological studies suggest that exposure to greenness during childhood may protect children from developing attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Objective
We analyzed the effect of both prenatal (pregnancy) and early childhood (4-5-year follow-up) residential greenness exposure and green space availability on ADHD symptoms during childhood (up to the age of 12 years) and further explored the potential mediating role of PM2.5 and physical activity in the association.
Methods
The study population included participants from the INfancia y Medio Ambiente (INMA) prospective birth cohort (Gipuzkoa, Sabadell, and Valencia). Average Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) in buffers of 100-, 300- and 500-m around the residential addresses was used as an indicator of greenness, while green space availability was determined based on the presence of a major green space within 150-m from the residence. Childhood ADHD symptoms were assessed at the 6-8- and 10-12-year follow-ups using Conners Parents Rating Scale-Revised: Short Form.
Results
Although no association was found for the prenatal exposure period, increased early childhood NDVI inversely associated with the OR of clinically significant ADHD symptoms during the 6-8-year follow-up at the 100-m (OR 0.03, 95% CI: 0.003 to 0.44), 300-m (OR 0.04, 95% CI: 0.003 to 0.42) and 500-m (OR 0.08, 95% CI: 0.01 to 0.76) buffers, but exclusively in the context of direct effects. Additionally, the 10-12-year follow-up analysis found moderate to weak evidence of potential total and direct effects of NDVI at both 100- and 300-m buffers on inattention scores, as well as for NDVI at the 300-m buffer on ADHD index scores. The analysis did not reveal evidence of mediation through PM2.5 or physical activity.
Conclusions
