    No full text

The study of the negotiations between the San Sebastian International Film Festival (SSIFF) and the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) through archival materials evidences the recurrent tensions in the in-ternational festival circuit and the particularities of the Spanish context. In the 1950s, when the rules at the festivals’ arena were still to be defined, SSIFF held its first editions; in the 1970s, the festival was forced to make a series of changes in response to the modernisation of the circuit and the transition to democracy of the Spanish government and its institutions. The first time it was recognised as an International Non-Specialised Competitive Festival of the FIAPF was in 1957, occupying that place intermittently until 1985, when it was consolidated in this category known as "Class A".; El estudio de las negociaciones entre el Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián (SSIFF) y la Federación Internacional de Asociaciones de Productores de Cine (FIAPF) a través de materiales de archivo evidencia las tensiones recurrentes en el circuito internacional de festivales y las particularidades del contexto español.

    No full text
[EN] Secondary victimization is a form of additional suffering faced by children who have been victims of sexual violence, and this is due to a judicial system that, on many occasions, does not meet their needs. Repeated statements, hostile environments and lack of specialized training only aggravate the trauma and undermine children's trust in institutions. This dissertation addresses this problem in order to analyze the Barnahus model, a European proposal that seeks to prevent revictimization through the centralization of services, specialized intervention and the creation of safe and adapted spaces. Through interviews with professionals and a theoretical-practical analysis, its transforming potential, and it is confirmed that it contributes significantly to reduce secondary victimization of children

“The University of the Poor" or Vocational Training in the Schools of Arts and Crafts in the Basque Country

    No full text
One of the keys to understanding the process of industrialisation and modernisation in Spain is to know the relationship between vocational education and training (VET) and the curricular changes. Since the mid-19th century, the Basque Country has undergone a singular process in the development of VET such that it has become a model of reference. Explaining the creation of this process is complex, but the fact that companies, factories, local and regional institutions opted for professional training institutions to establish a network of schools of arts and trades that adapted to economic, social and educational needs. The creation of different types of schools –generally in industrialised towns– was thus made possible. Based on the use of primary sources, this article seeks to explain this process in order to analyse the policies designed to promote vocational training through a curriculum oriented towards job placement.

Machine learning approach for predicting drug-like molecules targeting Calmodulin pathway proteins

    No full text
Recently, numerous models have been developed to predict drug interactions with molecules. However, integrating diverse data sources and improving the accuracy of biological activity predictions remains a challenge. This work proposes a novel solution that addresses these limitations. Here, we have developed a machine learning model to predict the efficacy of different assays and drugs for diseases related to calmodulin. To achieve this, we have compiled a comprehensive data set including commercialized drugs and experimental compounds targeting CaM complexes. The IFPTML-XGB model achieved high predictive performance, with a test accuracy of 89.1% and a sensitivity of 89.0%, demonstrating its robustness for assay efficacy prediction. We have used the IFPTML modeling technique to identify key factors influencing these activities. We have also synthesized novel riluzole derivatives and have tested them both experimentally and computationally. Biological assays and molecular docking studies have been performed to provide a molecular-scale picture of the molecule−CaM interaction. To validate the model’s utility, we tested it on these derivatives. We have found that the model correctly predicts which derivatives were the most bioactive, indicating that this framework can be used to identify promising candidates for new drug formulations. This research not only improves our understanding of CaM-related diseases, but also provides an effective framework for developing new treatments based on predictive modeling.Eusko Jaurlaritza (IT1558-22) SPRI ELKARTEK (KK-2020/00110) MCIN PID2021-128286NB-100 MCIN PID2022-137365NB-10

Brain Representation in Conscious and Unconscious Vision

    No full text
Published on Apr 28, 2025The development of robust frameworks to understand how the human brain represents conscious and unconscious perceptual contents is paramount to make progress in the neuroscience of consciousness. Recent functional MRI studies using multi-voxel pattern classification analyses showed that unconscious contents could be decoded from brain activity patterns. However, decoding does not imply a full understanding of neural representations. Here we re-analysed data from a high precision fMRI study coupled with representational similarity analysis based on convolutional neural network models to provide a detailed information-based approach to neural representations of both unconscious and conscious perceptual content. The results showed that computer vision model representations strongly predicted brain responses in ventral visual cortex and in fronto-parietal regions to both conscious and unconscious contents. Moreover, this pattern of results generalised when the models were trained and tested with different participants. Remarkably, these observations results held even when the analysis was restricted to observers that showed null perceptual sensitivity. In light of the highly distributed brain representation of unconscious information, we suggest that the functional role of fronto-parietal cortex in conscious perception is unlikely to be related to the broadcasting of information, as proposed by the global neuronal workspace theory, and may instead relate to the generation of meta-representations as proposed by higher-order theoriesD.S. acknowledges support from the Basque Government through the BERC 2018–2021 program, from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, through the ‘Severo Ochoa’ Programme for Centres/Units of Excellence in R & D (CEX2020-001010-S) and also from project grants PSI2016-76443-P and PID2019-105494GB-I00 from MINECO

Ekimena gaur egungo test elektrikoaren mugak gainditzeko sortu da, konexio batzuk behar bezala egiaztatu ezin baititu. Detektatu gabeko konexio-akats hauek kalitateari lotutako erreklamazioak eragin dituzte bezero nagusia den Mercedes-Benzengandik. Proposatutako soluzioa LED adierazleak erabiltzen dituen egiaztapen-sistema bisual batean oinarritzen da, konexio-akatsak, kontakturik eza edo zirkuitulaburrak detektatzeko gai dena, eta horrela kalitate-kontrolaren fidagarritasuna hobetu da ekoizpen-prozesuan interferentziarik sortu gabe. Proiektuak fase guztiak barne hartzen ditu: uneko sistemaren analisia, eskakizun teknikoen definizioa, diseinua, prototipoen balidazioa eta ekoizpen-lerroan azken ezarpena. Emaitzek agerian uzten dute akatsen detekzio goiztiarrean hobekuntza nabarmena lortu dela, eta azken produktuaren egiaztapen-prozesuaren trazabilitatea eta sendotasuna indartu direla.[EN] This project presents the design, development, and implementation of a visual verification system for critical electrical connections in cockpits assembled at the SAS Interior Modules plant in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The initiative addresses the limitations of the current electrical test, which is unable to verify certain connections. These undetected connection errors have led to quality complaints from the end customer, Mercedes-Benz. The proposed solution is based on a visual checking system using LED indicators capable of detecting connection errors, lack of contact, or short circuits, thereby improving the reliability of quality control without interfering with the production process. The project covers all stages, from the analysis of the current system and definition of technical requirements to the design, prototyping, validation, and final implementation of the solution on the production line. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in early fault detection and have strengthened traceability and the robustness of the final product validation process
