Production Effect in Complex Texts and Over Time
This study was created to test the production effect in complex texts and the effect over time. Production effect arises when an individual reads something aloud and retains information more efficiently. 123 Grace College and Theological Seminary undergraduate students participated in the study over the course of three weeks. Participants were separated into four groups: reading silently with no delay before testing, reading aloud with no delay before testing, reading aloud with a 24-hour delay before testing, reading silently with a 24-hour delay before testing. Our study shows no significant differences between reading complex texts aloud or silently, as measured by both of our test results. Results could be impacted by our population and other limitations of our design.

Responsive Integrated Treatment Matching (RITM) Approach in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes
This study investigated the effectiveness of a comprehensive, integrated approach to treating Type 2 Diabetes. The authors hypothesized that using a Responsive Integrated Treatment Matching (RITM) approach to treating Type 2 Diabetes patients would produce a better outcome than a traditional care approach. The RITM program utilizes psychological testing (Millon Behavioral Medicine Diagnostic) and a comprehensive psychological assessment to determine specific needs of each patients, and then matches individual treatments based on the results. The study involved experimental and control groups, and measured patients’ HbA1c at the beginning and end of the study to determine improved outcomes. The authors found a statistically significant improvement in HbA1c scores in the experimental group, suggesting that the RITM approach could improve outcomes in the treatment of diabetes. Taking these findings into account may help improve treatment of diabetes, along with reducing healthcare costs and helping patients improve their health.

The Development of Eating Disorders in College-Aged Students: The Role of Motivation and Eating Abnormalities
Precursors for eating disorders have been studied extensively throughout the past 30 years. Known precursors are widely varied and can usually be tested via questionnaire. The present exploratory study sought to analyze the correlation between motivational styles of eating (using the “Motivations to Eat†survey) and disordered eating (using the Million Behavioral Medicine Diagnostic) in college-aged students (N=85). Statistically significant data suggests the motivational styles of eating of coping and compliance could be precursors to eating disorders. These findings, however, were limited by the lack specificity of the diagnostic category for disordered eating in the Million Behavioral Medicine Diagnostic.
