    Protracted influence of Pb(NO3)2 in the dose 36 mg/kg of body weight, NaF in the dose 10 mg/kg of body weight and their combined action impairs heme biosynthesis and is accompanied by increased excretion of δ-ALA with urine. A combined effect of lead and fluorine by the explored effect depends on the term of the factors effect, applied bioprotectors and is due to the independent lead effect, additive and more than additive effect. The leading role in the development of the effect belongs to lead. The simultaneous influence of lead and fluorine can be optimally corrected by the complex of pectin, calcium and triovit, which manifest a synergic action.Przedłużony wpływ Pb(NO3)2 w dawce 36 mg/kg masy ciała, NaF w dawce 10 mg/kg m.c. i ich jednoczesne oddziaływanie zaburzają biosyntezę hemu i towarzyszy im wzrost wydalania δ-ALA z moczem. Jednoczesny wpływ ołowiu i fluoru w badanym aspekcie zależy od efektu pojedynczych czynników oraz stosowanych bioprotektorów. Główną rolę w rozwoju efektu odgrywa ołów.     Fetal cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disorders represent the second most commonly identified issue within the circulatory system. Extrasystoles make up 80% of all prenatal arrhythmias, whereas tachyarrhythmias account for 10% and bradyarrhythmias range from 5-10%, making them less prevalent. The diagnosis of the specific type of arrhythmia is conducted through echocardiography. A 27-year-old woman, who was in the 38th week of a normal pregnancy, was referred to the Medical University of Lublin\u27s Department of Obstetrics and Pathology of Pregnancy for a fetal echocardiography exam. The expectant mother consumed a daily infusion of raspberry leaves, totaling 3-4 cups (330 ml). Raspberry ketone (RK) is under investigation for its potential heart protective effects; however, there is no established safe dosage prior to delivery. After discontinuing the treatment, the fetal heart rate returned to a normal rhythm. This study is the first to link raspberry consumption with occurrences of fetal arrhythmias. Effective diagnosis of fetal heart rhythm disturbances relies on comprehensive echocardiography of the fetal heart and thorough interviewing of the pregnant patient. Premature delivery due to fetal heart rhythm issues, without a detailed analysis via echocardiography, is a significant oversight

    Reversed phase high-performance liquid chromatography for the evaluation of Luliconazole in bulk and pharmaceutical preparations

    A new precise economical RP-HPLC analytical approach will serve as the basis for Luliconazole assay determination – both in bulk drug form and topical cream format. The separation took place on a HPLC device. The chromatographic separation was performed on a reverse-phase C-18 column (250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 µ) using 0.1% OPA: acetonitrile (75:25) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.10 mL/min. The wavelength of 298 nm was employed for detecting the effluents through the system. The physical measurement revealed that Luliconazole exists at 3.112 minutes, and the determined correlation coefficient value for Luliconazole measurement reached 0.996, while Luliconazole measurement in the formulation range from 98% to 102%. The study validated the Luliconazole (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) values of 1.31 µg/mL and 3.98 µg/mL, respectively. Its simplicity, accuracy, rapid execution and ease of implementation revealed a successful application of method for the analysis of Luliconazole in bulk drug and topical cream formulations

    In the presented work parallel derivatisation with DPPH and Vanlin reagent on the same plate was shown. The investigated sample was essential oil obtained from Hyssopus officinalis L. aerial parts. Parallel derivatisation enabled identification of active, containing antioxidants fraction, which Rf was 0.52. The antioxidant activity of essential oil was examined against the stable free radical DPPH (2,2–diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl-hydrate). The antioxidant activity was expressed by using parameter EC50 and also compared with TEAC (Trolox). The results showed that the oil isolated from Hyssopus officinalis L. has low antioxidant activity EC50 value 21.13 mg/ mL and Trolox Equivalent value 0.029 mM.W prezentowanej pracy zastosowano równoległą derywatyzację dwoma odczynnikami wywołującymi w celu określenia występowania grup składników odpowiadających za właściwości antyoksydacyjne olejku eterycznego z nadziemnych części hyzopu lekarskiego. Derywatyzacja 2% alkoholowym roztworem DPPH oraz alkoholowym roztworem waniliny w kwasie siarkowym pozwoliła na skriningowe określenie Rf frakcji związków antyoksydacyjnie czynnych. Analizowano aktywność antyoksydacyjną olejku przy użyciu odczynnika DPPH i przeliczono na ekwiwalent Troloxu. Olejek wykazywał niską aktywność, poziom EC50 wynosił 21,13 mg/ mL, zaś ekwiwalent Troloxu  0,029 mM

    Survey of pharmacist’ opinion and knowledge on Adverse Drug Reactions reporting in Poland

    Reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs) is an extremely important procedure that affects patient safety. ADR reporting is the responsibility of every medical professional, including pharmacists.In the research, the aim of this study is to verify if pharmacists in Poland are ready to report adverse drug reactions. The research has been conducted via survey questionnaire within the tricity of Gdynia, Sopot and Gdańsk. The questionnaire consisted of thirteen questions, and every pharmacist with license to practice was allowed to participate in this study. The results indicate that Polish pharmacists assess their level of knowledge about reporting side effects at a moderate level. This may be due to the low popularity of training in this area. Moreover, the staff of community pharmacies have a lower perception of their level of knowledge about reporting ADR than do employees of hospital pharmacies and other related places (p<0.001). In addition, hospital pharmacists have more experience in ADR than those employed in community pharmacies, and pharmacists with a specialist title are more aware of the obligation to report ADR (p=0.023). Patients very rarely report side effects to pharmacists and this is indicated as the main reason for the lack of ADR reporting by this professional group. We conclude that pharmacists in Poland are not ready to report ADR, and more training is necessary

    Monitoring of patients with concomitant diseases post coronavirus infection

    This survey study presents data on the prevalence of, and the risk factors associated with post-COVID-19 complications for surviving patients with concomitant diseases during and after months of infection by coronavirus.A prospective, questionnaire-based study was conducted from May 2021 to June 2022. Patients who recovered from COVID-19 in 62 countries completed the online survey or did so during visits to hospitals and health centers. Individuals who recovered from COVID-19 were asked about their symptoms, adverse effects and adverse drug reactions. They were also asked if their concomitant diseases (diabetes, cardiovascular illness, asthma and GIT diseases) were affected after infection and if they had an uncontrolled treatment regimen. The severity of COVID was studied and the correlation coefficient to uncontrolled concomitant diseases was analyzed.Overall, 844 patients (44% female, 56% male) were assessed, and the highest percentage were suffering from long-term cough, dyspnea, constipation and uncontrolled concomitant diseases. A high significantly positive correlation between the severity of COVID infection and uncontrolled concomitant diseases was recorded.Many patients with mild to severe disease presentation reported persistent symptoms months later. Long-term complications to the lungs, heart, vascular system, kidneys, as well as metabolic disruption appear as uncontrolled treatment regimens for surviving COVID-19 patients

    The role of the L-arginine-NO-cGMP pathway in the development of tolerance to mephedrone-induced hyperlocomotion in mice

    The tendency of a psychostimulant to increase locomotion in rodents is considered to be associated with its addictive properties. Mephedrone, one of the most popular psychoactive substances used recreationally, is known to enhance locomotor activity in mice, but little is known about the potential development of tolerance to its central effects. In the present study, we decided to evaluate the possible involvement of the L-arginine-NO-cGMP pathway in the development of tolerance to mephedrone-induced hyperlocomotion. Experiments were performed on adult male Albino Swiss mice, and the locomotor activity was measured automatically. Our work indicated that a 5-day administration of L-NAME (25 or 50 mg/kg/day), methylene blue (5 or 10 mg/kg/day), and L-arginine hydrochloride (i.e., 250 mg/kg/day) prevented the development of tolerance to mephedrone-induced (5 mg/kg/day) hyperlocomotion, whereas treatment with L-arginine hydrochloride at a dose of 125 mg/kg/day potentiated the development of tolerance to this central effect of mephedrone. Summarizing, our data revealed that the L-arginine-NO-cGMP pathway contributes to the development of tolerance to mephedrone’s central effects since inhibition of this signalling via blocking of NOS or NO-stimulated sGC prevented the development of tolerance to mephedrone-induced hyperlocomotion. As for cGMP-regulated phosphodiesterases, most probably they are not involved in these mechanisms

    Regardless of the reasons of its development, diabetes is one of the diseases that affect the state of our oral cavity, particularly the state of oral mucosa and periodontium. Patients with uncontrolled diabetes are exposed to inflammatory and atrophic changes. The latest studies reveal that the correlation between diabetes and gingival inflammations is bidirectional. Not only are diabetic patients more prone to oral inflammations but also untreated inflammation promotes the occurrence and development of diabetes, as it increases sugar level in the blood. Providing patients with systemic diseases with complex care is a challenge for dentists and doctors of various specializations. Good cooperation between diabetology and dental specialists is particularly important. It does not only help in a better control of diabetes but also in the control of pathological changes in the oral cavity. The increase in the pro-health awareness concerning oral diseases and knowledge about complications resulting from diabetes in the group of these patients should motivate them to maintain their own dentition in the best condition possible.Niezależnie od przyczyn powstania cukrzyca jest jedną z chorób, która ma wpływ na stan jamy ustnej, szczególnie na stan błon śluzowych i przyzębia. Pacjenci z niewyrównaną cukrzycą narażeni są na zmiany zapalne i zanikowe. Najnowsze badania wykazują, że związek choroby cukrzycowej i stanów zapalnych dziąseł jest dwukierunkowy. Nie tylko pacjenci z cukrzycą są bardziej narażeni na stany zapalne jamy ustnej, ale również nieleczony stan zapalny może sprzyjać wystąpieniu i rozwojowi cukrzycy, gdyż stanowi czynnik podwyższający poziom cukru we krwi. Objęcie kompleksową opieką pacjentów z chorobami ogólnoustrojowymi stanowi wyzwanie dla lekarzy różnych specjalności, również dla lekarzy stomatologów. Szczególnie istotna jest dobra współpraca pomiędzy specjalistami z zakresu diabetologii i stomatologii. Pomaga ona nie tylko lepiej opanować cukrzycę, ale i chorobowe zmiany w obrębie jamy ustnej. Wzrost świadomości prozdrowotnej z zakresu chorób jamy ustnej oraz wiedzy na temat powikłań w wyniku cukrzycy w grupie tych pacjentów powinien motywować ich do utrzymania własnego uzębienia w jak najlepszym stanie

    The activity of gelatinases A and B, fibronectin concentration and its fragmentation in plasma of rats with doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy were investigated. It was shown that the treatment with COX-1 inhibitors leads to a significant decrease of MMP-9 and proMMP2 activities, and treatment with celecoxib (COX-2 inhibitor) leads to an increase of both forms of MMP-2. Fibronectin degradation was increased in animals treated with COX inhibitors.Określono aktywności żelatynazy A i B oraz stężenie i fragmentację fibronektyny w osoczu szczurów z kardiomiopatią indukowaną doksorubicyną. Wykazano, że stosowanie inhibitorów COX1 prowadzi do istotnego spadku aktywności MMP-9 i proMMP-2, zaś zastosowanie celekoksybu (inhibitora COX2) powoduje wzrost obydwu form MMP-2.     Mobile health technologies as a tool supporting mental health and physical activity in adolescents – a review of current practices

    In the era of rapid development of mobile health technologies, tools supporting mental health have become an integral part of modern health promotion among adolescents. In Poland, there is a growing interest in and use of solutions that offer access to personalised training programs, mood monitoring, and real-time psychological support.This article provides a comprehensive review of the latest trends and technological solutions with the potential to improve mental health and to increase physical activity among young people.A narrative literature review methodology was applied. Publications from 2015 to 2025 in Polish and English, related to the use of mobile health technologies in promoting mental health and physical activity among adolescents, were included.The review indicates a dynamic development of artificial intelligence and machine learning enabling the creation of increasingly advanced and individualized health solutions foradolescents.. The analysis highlights various challenges faced by users and developers of applications,from the need to tailor interventions to individual needs and motivation levels, through digital fatigue limiting engagement, to concerns regarding privacy and data security.Integration of mobile applications with healthcare systems opens new possibilities for health monitoring and early intervention. Further research on the effectiveness of these tools is recommended, along with the necessity to strengthen digital competencies of adolescents and their families through educational programs
