UHPLC-UHRMS and 109AgNPs-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging of pesticide residues in Solanum lycopersicum L.
The materials contain mass spectra of 109AgNPs-LDI-MSI obtained using a Bruker Autoflex Speed mass spectrometer of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) fruit tissue chemical composition from an imprint and images from a camera corresponding to the imprint of the tissue. The imprint used for the analysis is the leftmost bottom imprint shown on the photo.The raw data of the results of the surface assisted-LDI is included in the 109AgNPs_LDI_MSI_tomato zip file and can be opened using an open-source R package that is freely available.</p
Non destructive parameters by CVS for predictive modelling and machine learning in Salicornia europaea
PurposeThe study aims to develop and validate a low-cost, non-destructive method using a computer vision system (CVS) combined with multivariate analysis to classify Salicornia europaea plants based on morphometric and colour traits. The ultimate goal is to support selective breeding by predicting plant biomass and substrate salinity, enabling effective differentiation of salt tolerance levels.NatureThis is an experimental and analytical study involving digital image capture, quantitative trait analysis, and predictive modelling. The method integrates morphometric measurements and CIELab-based colour metrics extracted via CVS, followed by statistical techniques such as Pearson correlation, PCA, MDA, and multiple linear regression to classify and predict phenotypic and environmental parameters.ScopeThe study evaluated 120 plants from two distinct S. europaea populations under varying salinity levels. It demonstrated high prediction accuracy for biomass and substrate salinity across different tolerance levels, with up to 100% validation accuracy in classification. The approach proves scalable and applicable to ecological monitoring, bio-agriculture, and industrial halophyte cultivation, with potential for integration into AI and mobile platforms.</p
Data on in situ vitamin B12 fortification in fruit pomace-based matrices using P. freudenreichii DSM 20271
The popularity of plant-based foods is growing due to concerns about health, ethics (animal welfare), and the environment. However, since plants do not synthesize vitamin B12, fortification of plant-based products is strongly recommended to prevent cobalamin deficiency. The food industry generates substantial quantities of organic by-products annually, with fruit pomace - residues from juice and wine production - being among the most abundant. Due to its high perishability, but also valuable nutritional and bioactive content, effective strategies for fruit pomace management are being explored. The study aimed to enrich selected fruit pomace types with vitamin B12 and propionic acid through fermentation using Propionibacterium freudenreichii DSM 20271 and to optimize the culture matrix for efficient synthesis of metabolites. Pomace (from blue honeysuckle berries, strawberries, and grapes) was assessed for safety (pesticide and mycotoxin contamination) and nutritional properties (carbon and nitrogen sources, vitamins B2 and B3, and cobalt content) relevant to the growth of propionic acid bacteria. The fruit pomace-based matrices underwent controlled fermentation, and the influence of pomace type on the metabolism of propionic acid bacteria was investigated. Results confirmed that fruit by-products can serve as substrates for P. freudenreichii, providing essential compounds for the active metabolism of these bacteria. Importantly, the absence of contaminants supports the safe application of fruit pomace in food production. Fermentation outcomes demonstrated successful enrichment of the matrices with both vitamin B12 and propionic acid. Process optimization revealed that strawberry pomace was most effective for propionic acid synthesis, while a combination of strawberry pomace and grape pomace (in an appropriate proportion) supported optimal cobalamin production. Projekt miał na celu ilościowe określenie ekspresji białek enzymów metabolizujących leki oraz ich ilość (LC-MS/MS) w zdrowej i chorej wątrobie (HCV, PSC, PBC, ALD) oraz identyfikację mechanizmów regulujących ich ekspresję, takich jak miRNA, metylacja DNA. Badania pozwoliły lepiej zrozumieć wpływ tych enzymów na biodostępność leków i procesy patofizjologiczne wątroby. Uzyskane wyniki dostarczyły nowych danych o znaczeniu poznawczym i potencjalnie diagnostycznym, istotnych dla modelowania farmakokinetycznego i przewidywania interakcji lekowych.</p

Podocytes as novel sources of neutrophil serine proteases: expression and regulation by inflammatory molecular patterns.
Data for the manuscript entitled: Podocytes as novel sources of neutrophil serine proteases: expression and regulation by inflammatory molecular patterns.This dataset accompanies a study demonstrating that human and rat podocytes express enzymatically active neutrophil serine proteases (NSPs), including neutrophil elastase, proteinase 3, and cathepsin G, as well as their endogenous inhibitors, serpins. We show that the expression and activity of these proteases are regulated by inflammatory molecular patterns. Notably, podocytes release NSPs in extracellular vesicles and secrete mitochondrial DNA in response to inflammatory stimuli without compromising cell viability. We also identified, for the first time, the expression and redistribution of myeloperoxidase in podocytes upon stimulation.These data were used to create Figures 2-10. All data for Figures have been included in the file Figure 2–10.</p
Dietary Fiber with Functional Properties Counteracts the Thwarting Effects of Copper Nanoparticles on the Microbial Enzymatic Activity and Short-Chain Fatty Acid Production in the Feces of Rats
The present study aimed to scrutinize the hypothesis that the dietary addition of fiber with functional properties would prevent the thwarting effects of copper nanoparticles (Cu-NP) on fecal microbial metabolic activity. The Wistar rats were fed for 6 weeks with diets with two different contents of Cu-NP (a recommended dose of 6.5 mg/kg or doubled) and four sources of dietary fiber: control – cellulose; and experimental – pectin, inulin, and psyllium. The activity of bacterial enzymes and short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) production were analyzed in the excreted feces collected on subsequent days of feeding. The inclusion of Cu-NP to the diet, especially in the higher dose tested, resulted in a rapid reduction in the fecal microbial enzymatic activity after only the first day of feeding. The addition of functional fiber to diets containing Cu-NP enhanced bacterial α-glucosidase, β-glucosidase, β-glucuronidase, α-arabinofuranosidase activity and SCFA production vs. diets with control cellulose. That effect was most rapidly evident with pectin, while the effect of inulin or psyllium addition exceeded that of pectin only in some cases, i.e., α-glucosidase activity as well as content of propionic and butyric acids. In conclusion, the high potential of dietary functional fiber in reducing the suppressive effect of Cu-NP on the intestinal microbiota activity should be recognized.</p
Dispersion and incorporation of TiO2 and SiC nano-particles in SAC alloy: SIMS and DFT study
Ceramic nano-particles are frequently used as reinforcements in SAC alloys to improve their mechanical properties; however, the nano-particle dispersion and incorporation mechanisms are not well known. We fabricated composite SAC alloys from 99Sn0.3Ag0.7Cu (SAC0307) alloy (Alpha) with TiO2 and SiC NPs (powder and fibers) in 0.5wt%. We used four types of NPs during the investigations. There were two types of TiO2 rutile nano-powders: TiO2-p1 with 21nm primary particle size, and TiO2-p2 with 200nm primary particle size; and two types of SiC NPs, SiC nano-powder, SiC-p < 100nm primary particle size, and SiC nano-fiber, SiC-f, with D<2.5μm diameter and a L/D≥20 length/diameter ratio. We observed the solder joints’ microstructure by an FEI Inspect S50 Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) on the cross-sections. We measured the elemental compositions by energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS). We performed secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) measurements on the cross-sections using a CAMECA IMS SC Ultra instrument operating in an ultra-high vacuum around 4x10-10 mbar) to determine the nano-particle distribution along the solder joints' vertical cross-section. DFT calculations were done to investigate the possible interaction between the different nano-particles and the Sn atoms. SIMS results showed that the distribution of the nano-particles is inhomogeneous in the solder bulk; furthermore, the density characteristics highly depend on the size and shape of the nano-particles. DFT calculations proved that the non-soluble TiO2 and SiC could form chemical bonds with the Sn during the soldering, which might further explain their positive effect on the physical properties of composite SAC alloys.The dataset consists:· the published figures in the article in high resolution· supplementary SEM micrographs of the cross-sectioned solder joints· the original data of the SIMS measurements (in Origin format). Changes in the Activities of Antioxidant Enzymes in the Fat Body and Hemolymph of Apis mellifera L. Due to Pollen Monodiets
This study examines the impact of monofloral pollen diets (hazel, rapeseed, pine, buckwheat, Phacelia, goldenrod) on the antioxidant enzyme activities in the fat body from tergite 3, tergite 5, sternite, and hemolymph of honey bees. We show that pollen from plants such as rapeseed, Phacelia, buckwheat, and goldenrod (rich in phenolic compounds and flavonoids) increases the activities of SOD, CAT, GST, and GPx in the fat body and hemolymph compared to the control group.</p
