No full text

</p&gt

    No full text

Scientific reasoning competencies (SRC) are an area of competence emphasized in science education and are considered essential in the world of 21st Century skills. Developing these competencies is important for all levels of education, from primary school to university. However, to accurately measure them, measurement tools with validity and reliable evidence are needed. The current study was conducted with two different sample groups. In Study-1 (n = 155), the SRC test consisting of 21 items was adapted into Turkish, and evidence of its validity and reliability was presented. To this end, the Turkish adaptation of the SRC test, which was previously developed and tested for validity in different languages, was conducted in a sample of primary school teacher candidates. In Study-2 (n = 483), the relationship between SRC and epistemological beliefs and analytic thinking skills was examined. Regression analysis showed that epistemological beliefs and analytic thinking were significant predictors of SRC. The study and discussion offer implications for future research on the relationship between SRC and other thinking skills not examined in this research.</p&gt

    No full text

This study investigates the structural and luminescent properties UV radiation of Tb3+-doped K7CaY2(B5O10)3 (KCYBO) phosphors prepared using a microwave-assisted sol-gel method, with a focus on the impact of Na+ co- doping. Tb3+ions were effectively integrated as evidenced by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Rietveld analysis, without disrupting the crystal structure. Photoluminescence (PL) analysis showed intense green emissions at 542 nm, which are due to the 5 D 4 -> 7 F 5 transition in Tb3+. Optimal luminescence was observed at 3 wt% Tb3+, beyond which concentration quenching effect was driven by non-radiative cross-relaxation between adjacent Tb3+ions. Na+ co-doping enhanced PL intensity by improving energy transfer and reducing non-radiative losses. CIE chromaticity coordinates demonstrated a tunable color shift towards warmer tones with increasing Na+ concentration. Thermal stability was assessed through the Arrhenius equation, with an activation energy of 0.31 eV, indicating the material's potential for high-temperature optoelectronic applications.</p&gt

    No full text

Advancements in nanotechnology allow for the development of in situ or ex situ prepared nanocoatings and nanoparticles which are valuable in the electronics industry due to their intrinsic physical and chemical properties. Printed electronics, intended for applications such as flexible displays and smart labels, offer a distinct advantage over conventional products. The primary components used in printed electronics are the nano-ink containing polymer matrix and the substrate for printing. Gold, silver, and copper are commonly chosen for these processes because of their excellent electrical conductivity. In the electronics industry, it is well-known that producing conductive ink typically requires high temperatures and extended processing times, as is the case with conventional methods. In this study, in situ prepared silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in a crosslinked polymeric matrix are achieved simultaneously using environmentally friendly polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and acrylamide via photopolymerization. The generated radicals facilitated the formation of silver nano particles while simultaneously forming a cross-linked network that underwent further processing to transform into ink. The obtained polymer ink formulation is suitable for use with a refillable pen, and it is determined that it dries shortly after writing on surfaces such as paper and glass and exhibits high durability under room conditions.</p&gt

miR-484 as an "OncomiR" in Breast Cancer Promotes Tumorigenesis by Suppressing Apoptosis Genes

    No full text

PurposeBreast cancer (BC) is one of the most common causes of death among females. Cancer cells escape from apoptosis, causing the cells to proliferate uncontrollably. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known to regulate apoptosis in cancer cells.ObjectiveThis study aimed to determine the change in miR-484 in different BC cells and its relationship with the apoptosis pathway.MethodsIn the study, tumor and healthy tissue samples adjacent to the tumor were collected from 42 patients (6 benign, 36 malignant). Tissue samples were classified according to tumor type, tumor histological grade, proliferation index, and molecular subtypes. Gene expression levels were determined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and protein levels were determined using the Western Blot method. The results were analyzed using the delta-delta Ct method.ResultsFindings showed that miR-484 expression levels were higher in malignant tumors than in benign tumors, and higher in tumor tissues than healthy tissues. Additionally, it was determined that as Ki-67 levels and histological grade and aggressiveness increased, miR-484 expression levels also increased. In tumor tissue compared with healthy adjacent tissue, there was an increase in BCL2 expression and a decrease in Casp3 and Casp9 expression. Therefore, a positive correlation was found between miR-484 expression and BCL2, and a negative correlation was found between CASP3 and CASP9 expression.ConclusionOur results show that miR-484 may play a roll as an onco-miR in BC. Increased miR-484 and BCL2, and decreased Casp3, in breast tumor tissues suggest that Casp9 expression may increase uncontrolled cell proliferation by suppressing apoptosis in BC cells and may contribute to tumor progression.</p&gt

    No full text

The current study develops the first and novel gold nanoparticle-ionic liquid nanostructure modified microbial biosensor based on Pleurotus ostreatus for the sensitive determination of Bisphenol A. In the construction of the microbial biosensor, lyophilized P.ostreatus cells were modified with ionic liquid-cysteamine mixture on a gold electrode which was modified with 1,6-hexanedithiol and gold nanoparticle. The measurement principle of the biosensor is based on the detection of changes in current in a phosphate buffer system (pH 7.5, 50 mM and containing 5.0 mM K3[Fe(CN)6]) in the potential range of -0.2 to +0.6 V depending on the BPA concentration. In the optimization studies of the microbial biosensor; the most suitable ionic liquid-cysteamin ratio was 1 : 2 (v/v) and the incubation time of 1,6-hexanedithiol on the gold electrode was 6 hours. Optimum working conditions were determined to be pH:7.5, 100 mM potassium phosphate buffer, and 35 degrees C. In the characterization studies of the microbial biosensor, parameters such as linearity, interference effects of some substances on the microbial biosensor responses, repeatability, reproducibility and storage stability of the microbial biosensor were determined. The linear range of the biosensor was obtained 10-250 mu M. Limit of detection was determined to be 1.57 mu M and the response time was obtained 20 seconds. Real sample analysis was carried out by water samples that kept in plastic bottles for 6 months by using both the microbial biosensor and HPLC method.</p&gt

Fabrication and In Vitro Evaluation of LL37-Loaded Electrospun PHB/Collagen Nanofibers forWound Healing

    No full text

Skin repair is essential in the treatment of burns and wounds. After an injury, the concept
of tissue engineering emerges to restore skin function and facilitate wound healing. This
field often involves the use of biodegradable and biocompatible materials as a primary
scaffold for tissue regeneration. In this study, a PHB/Collagen wound dressing mat loaded
with the antimicrobial peptide LL37 was developed via electrospinning. The polymer
solutions were prepared by dissolving polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) biopolymer extracted
from Cereibacter sphaeroides, commercial PHB, and marine collagen in hexafluoroisopropanol
(HFIP). The resulting nanofibers were characterized using Field-Emission Scanning Electron
Microscopy (FE-SEM), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), X-Ray Diffractometry (XRD),
and an Optical Tensiometer. Antibacterial activity assessments were conducted against
Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 29213) and Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922). Degradability studies
were carried out inDMEMmedium, cytotoxicity tests were performed on the L929 fibroblast
cell line, and the wound healing effect was investigated on the HS2 keratinocyte cell line. To
evaluate the properties of the designed material under in vitro conditions, the morphology
of cells on the nanofiber was examined using an inverted light microscope. The findings
demonstrated that the nanofibers were biocompatible in vitro and exhibited no toxic effects.
And, compared to the control groups, the 5.56 nmol LL37-loaded PHB/Collagen nanofibers
significantly enhanced wound closure by 15–30% and effectively reduced the viability of
S. aureus and E. coli by 20–25% and approximately 80–85%, respectively. These results
highlight the therapeutic potential of LL37-loaded PHB/Collagen nanofibers for use in
wound healing applications.</p&gt
