This paper addresses the influence of leader’s relational transparency on employee commitment in agencies implementing Public Financial Management Reforms (PFMRs) in Kenya. Methodically, the study was guided by the positivism research philosophy. The study applied descriptive correlational research design because it is the most appropriate as it reveals accurate information that allows for inferences through hypothesis testing. This approach was favored because it explains what is in existence and, in turn, assists in revealing new realities and meanings, thus broadening the scope of the phenomenon under study. The population of the study was 747 managers from the Kenyan PFMRs implementing agencies. This study adopted a simple random sampling technique to select 260 managers for the study. Primary data was collected using a structured questionnaire that was designed based on the research objectives. Both descriptive and inferential analysis were employed for analysis. The Binary logit regression model was significant with Chi-square χ² (1) = 112.350, p<.001, and the model summary result shows the Nagelkerke R square of .783. The study accepted the alternative hypothesis, which stated that leaders\u27 relational transparency significantly influenced employee commitment among managers in agencies implementing PFMRs. From the empirical evidence and conclusion, the study recommends that organizations can establish a consistent policy for leaders to be transparent about the task and activities related to the firm. In addition, employees should be encouraged to provide honest feedback, but this can only occur if the leaders are ethical

The purpose of this paper was to determine the influence of Internal Integration and operational performance in Kenya’s level five public hospitals, as well as the moderating effect of public procurement to the relationship. The study adopted causal and cross-sectional study design to examine the relationship between internal integration, operational performance using empirical data. One hundred sixty-four respondents drawn from the level five public hospitals participated in the research. These were selected from supply chain key personnel working in the supply by applying simple random sampling. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire that contained both open-ended and closed-ended questions and analysed. The results show a significant relationship between internal integration and operational performance (β1=0.286, p<0.05) with an R-square of 0.421, implying that 42.1% of the variation in the operational performance in level five public hospitals is attributed to changes in internal integration through responsiveness, integrated system, and real-time inventory management, online integration with internal customers, suppliers and warehouse, cross-functional teams, real-time logistics information, functional planning meetings, team building, and regular briefings. Public procurement was also found to significantly moderate the relationship between internal integration and operational performance (β2=0.378, p<0.05) of the level five public hospitals. The study recommends robust and effective internal integration by strengthening the facilities capabilities through information sharing, structuring of internal operations and process integration before they can engage in meaningful external integration

    No full text
Relational social capital plays a critical role in enhancing competitive advantage of most companies across the globe. However, there is scanty literature indicating how social capital affects competitive advantage of life assurance companies. This study sought to establish the effect of relational social capital on competitive advantage of life assurance companies in Kenya. The study collected primary data using a questionnaire from 356 senior management employees in all the 25 life assurance companies in Kenya. The study utilized both descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics comprised of measures of central tendency and measure of dispersion while inferential statistics comprised of multiple linear regression model. The data collected was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) version 27. The study results indicated that relational social capital has a significant influence on the competitive advantage of life assurance companies in Kenya (β = 0.842, t = 13.152, p < 0.05). The study findings led to the conclusion that relational social capital influenced competitive advantage by having mutual respect at multiple levels and collaborating to diagnose and solve problems. Moreover, the study concluded that employees at the life assurance companies interacted and exchanged ideas with other employees from different areas of the companies. The life assurance companies also provided social support when employees faced any difficulties at work or when employees faced difficulties at a personal level. The study, based on the findings, recommends to management of life assurance companies to institute and implement policies and practices that enable interdepartmental interactions and exchange of ideas. Moreover, management in the companies should continuously undertake reskilling to ensure that even when working under strenuous and ever-changing environment, employees share the same professional language and business values

The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of Monitoring and Evaluation on road development projects in Kenya. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design and mixed method methodology to enable wider comprehension of the problem. The objective of this was to assess the level of stakeholder engagement on the performance of road development projects in Mombasa County, Kenya. The study utilized stakeholder theory mainly to address the shortcoming within project management. The target population was 40 county government officials, 20 National government officials, 60 community representatives and four project managers. A sample size of 124 was selected using the stratified random sampling technique. Theprimary data was collected using structured survey questionnaires to examine the independent and the dependent variables and their relationship to each other. The reliability and validity of the research instruments were tested by carrying out a pilot study. During re-testing the Cronbach Alpha (α) above 0.7 is acceptable for internal consistency. The collected data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The study findings determined that the stakeholder was responsible for knowing what was happening during the project implementation. The study concluded that the road development project, in its entirety, accepted stakeholder involvement in the planning, assessment, and analyzing efficiency and effectiveness of the project. The study recommends that stakeholder mapping is imperative for proper identification and categorization

    No full text
The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of identifying adaptive challenges behavior on the digital transformation of insurance firms in Kenya. Guided by the research question on the relationship between identifying adaptive challenges behavior and digital transformation, the study employed an adaptive leadership theoretical framework and a postpositivist philosophical stance. A descriptive correlational research design was adopted, and data were collected from a target population of 392 through a self-administered questionnaire. A sample of 127 supervisors was drawn from the 56 insurance firms listed by the Insurance Regulatory Authority. The ordinal logistic regression results indicated a good model, which explained 59.7% of the variance in digital transformation and significantly predicted digital transformation β2 = -4.787, p ≤ .05.  Hence, identifying adaptive challenges behavior has significant influence on the digital transformation of insurance firms in Kenya. The research recommended that identifying adaptive challenges behavior is emphasized in driving digital transformation in the insurance industry

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of security governance on Enterprise Security Risk Management (ESRM) adoption in Kenya’s chartered universities. We utilized the diffusion of innovation theory to explain security governance as an organizational characteristic that steers and guides ESRM adoption in universities. From a target of 60 chartered universities, we randomly selected a sample of 22 public and 20 private chartered universities. We collected data from a security executive from the main campus of each of the sampled universities using a self-administered questionnaire. Spearman’s correlation results revealed that security governance had a strong, positive, and statistically significant influence on ESRM adoption; rs (33) =.524; p =.002. Ordinal logistic regression analysis indicated a good model, which explained 53.4% of the variance in ESRM adoption. Therefore, security governance has a significant influence on ESRM adoption. We have discussed managerial implications and suggested future research directions
