In 1560, Toledo was the setting of a public festival organized to receive Queen Elisabeth of Valois, third wife of Philip II.
Abstract: Eichendorff saw the sea first and foremost as a literary topos: in the complementary opposition of boundlessness and failure. Unlike most of his predecessors, however, he presents man’s challenge by the sea in the spirit of Catholicism, according to which the skipper who entrusts himself entirely to divine providence will always sail safely. This Christian-optimistic interpretation of the relationship between ocean and man is examined on the basis of several poems as well as of the story Eine Meerfahrt.

Abstract: Payo Gómez Charino is a historical drama in three acts, by Emilio Álvarez Giménez, which premiered in Pontevedra in 1866. It is the only 19th-century Spanish play starring Charino, a 13th-century sailor and troubadour. The conflict of the work is the romantic claim of the homeland, freedom and independence. All this is shown on a sea voyage, which leads the protagonist to victory in Triana. In this paper I describe the writing context of the drama and its connection with political and social episodes of the time, and I study the conflict, the characterization of the characters, the spaces and the scenery of a drama that represents transcendence, public and private, of a legendary journey.

Salvation through the Beauty of Thresholds: On Peter Handke\u27s Writing
The article aims to explore Peter Handke’s work with a particular focus on literature’s capacity for self-questioning. This investigation delves into the moments in Handke’s prose where the need for redemption flickers, ultimately leading to reflections of aesthetic and literary nature through the spaces opened up by his writing
The Power and Politics of Online Collaborative Genres during the Covid-19 Information/Health Crisis
In the context of the recent Covid-19 ‘infodemic,’ the World Health Organization joined forces with Wikipedia, the largest multilingual collaborative online encyclopedia, in order to boost the dissemination of accurate reliable knowledge (WHO 2020, online). It cannot go unnoticed that this agreement implicitly acknowledged the major role Wikipedia plays as a source of medical information on the Web; at the same time it was challenging—albeit for a good cause—the nature of Wikipedia as an encyclopedia. In fact, coping with the Covid-19 emergency has inevitably expanded Wikipedia’s boundaries beyond the limits of the encyclopedia genre, by ‘forcing’ it to chart unknown territories in the pursuit of a balance between established information and ever new data.It is against this background that the impact of this new scenario on the ‘generic integrity’ of Wikipedia is discussed in the present article through the analysis of pages related to Covid-19 in Wikipedia. The basic assumption is that while the interplay between the centrifugal and centripetal forces of discourse remains at the heart of the Wikipedia enterprise (Gatto 2012; Bakhtin 1982), in the case of the Covid-19 health/information crisis a more pressing recourse might have been made to centripetal forces, in ways not dissimilar to the typical ‘gatekeeping’ at work in traditional genres, so as to maintain both generic integrity and high standards in the quality of information
Abstract: Navigation, in Wagner’s opera Tristan und Isolde, becomes a metaphor for human existence, and this is reflected in the tradition that has identified this meaning in mythologies throughout the world, but especially in Christian literature. Richard Wagner interprets the tradition by weaving a syncopated and compressed drama in which the passion between the two protagonists explodes with the force of the colliding contrasts.

Abstract: This research will address the study of the drama in verse by Patricio de la Escosura entitled La aurora de Colón, from 1838. This work has been scarcely addressed in previous investigations and in it Christopher Columbus is presented before starting his journey to America. The work is part of a current of recovery of the historical past and is of interest due to its debt to the Spanish Baroque theatre, which is amalgamated with typically romantic elements such as amorous passions, the satanic lover and the destructive force of love. The work will analyse the reason for the trip to the New World as it is presented in the play, as well as the many displacements of the different characters in the drama.
