Multilingualism, Identity, and Language Ideologies: Insights from the globale°-Polyphonie Cooperation

    No full text
The article examines the interplay between multilingualism, identity, and language ideologies in contemporary German-language literature through the cooperation between the globale° festival for border-crossing literature (Bremen) and the research network Polyphonie (Universities of Genoa and Catania). Bringing together artistic practice and academic inquiry, the paper explores how multilingual authors writing in German engage with questions of agency, belonging, and linguistic attitudes in times of political and cultural transformation. Drawing on qualitative analyses of biographical interviews with selected authors, it discusses how linguistic experiences and ideologies manifest in literary and personal narratives, particularly in contexts marked by transnational and geopolitical tensions. The contribution aims to highlight the potential of cross-disciplinary collaborations to deepen our understanding of the ethical, affective, and creative dimensions of multilingual writing.L’articolo esamina l’interazione tra plurilinguismo, identità e ideologie linguistiche nella letteratura contemporanea di lingua tedesca, attraverso la collaborazione tra il festival globale° di letteratura transnazionale (Brema) e il network di ricerca Polyphonie (Università di Genova e Catania).

Multilingual Literature, Literary Studies and the Literary Field

    No full text
This article gives an overview of research on literary multilingualism during the past decades and explores some of the concepts and approaches that have been suggested by scholars. This also includes a definition or, rather, a discussion of the different possibilities to define literary multilingualism and/or multilingualism in literature. This leads to what can be called the "dark sides" of literary multilingualism, i.e. what lies beyond the celebration and idealisation of multilingualism, self-translation and hybridity. In this contribution, these "dark sides" are addressed both in terms of the literary field (or: fields) and in terms of research on literary multilingualism.

    No full text
In an era of increasing public skepticism towards businesses and institutions, organizations are under growing pressure from stakeholders to be transparent and trustworthy in their disclosures. The ability to communicate openly and honestly with stakeholders has become vital for success. Transparency ensures that the information shared is accurate, comprehensive, and accessible, allowing stakeholders to make informed judgments about a company\u27s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. Trust, meanwhile, is the cornerstone of effective communication; built through consistent and honest interactions, it is essential for maintaining stakeholder confidence and support. This special issue delves into the pivotal roles of transparency and trust in corporate communication, shedding light on how these aspects contribute to corporate credibility. Transparency enables organizations to demonstrate accountability, creating a positive impact on organizational reputation and fostering stronger relationships with stakeholders. Additionally, trust helps in enhancing stakeholder engagement, ensuring they feel valued and informed. Together, transparency and trust form the bedrock of robust business communication strategies, enabling organizations to navigate the complexities of modern corporate environments effectively. By prioritizing clear and honest exchanges, companies can build a solid foundation for long-term success and sustainability. This issue explores various strategies and approaches for enhancing transparency and trust, highlighting their significance in shaping corporate communication practices that resonate with stakeholder expectations and promote organizational integrity

Disappointing Expectations. Intersectional Perspectives in Transcultural German Literature

    No full text
The article investigates how transcultural literature in the German-speaking context engages with intersectionality as a critical framework for understanding identity beyond fixed categories. Through the analysis of literary texts by Olga Grjasnowa and Sasha Marianna Salzmann, and theoretical reflections from Feminist Posthumanities, the study highlights how language becomes a site of resistance against binary oppositions and normative identity constructs. Intersectionality is approached not only as a sociopolitical lens but also as a linguistic and aesthetic strategy that allows for the expression of fluid, complex, and unclassifiable subjectivities. The article advocates for a polyphonic conception of German language shaped by the lived experiences of multilingual and intersectional authors
