Banning the Unethical Practices of Puppy Mills in Every State
Get PDFMy presentation brings to light the inhumane and unethical practices within the commercial dog breeding industry. It is legal in most U.S. states for puppy mills to force dogs to live in deplorable conditions. The government takes little action in implementing and enforcing regulations regarding the care of the animals. I state the need for the Puppy Protection Act of 2021 to be added to the Animal Welfare Act. This bill would enforce that dogs in the commercial dog breeding industry be given proper care, therefore, bettering the lives of the animals
The Effects of Vole Herbivory on Vegetation in Northern Illinois Tallgrass Prairie
Get PDFOur project investigates the effects of herbivory that prairie and meadow voles, Microtus pennsylvanicus and Microtus ochrogaster, have on the composition of vegetation in a restored tallgrass prairie and savanna. We utilized data from twelve 2 by 2 plots established in 2003, 6 of which were dedicated vole exclusion plots. We mainly observed the abundance and heights of grass and forbs and their interaction based on the vole’s diets. We predicted that grasses in access plots are more likely to be overabundant and forbs in exclusion plots are more likely to exceed the abundance and height of grasses.

No full textThis project covers the formal, iconographic, and historical analyses of the Fieschi Morgan Staurotheke, a piece of artwork created in the Early Byzantine era. In this essay, I will cover what this object physically looks like, what the imagery and craftmanship represents, and its journey through history to eventually become displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This essay will explore what this box was created for and its mysterious origins, as well as its journey through history.
