Synthesizing Diazeniumdiolates from Primary Amines as Nitroxyl Donors

    No full text
The use of Nitroxyl (HNO) donors has been shown to have a multitude of pharmaceutical and medicinal uses, ranging from slowing tumor growth to treatment of alcoholism. Primary amine based diazeniumdiolates, also known as NONOates, are extensively used in biochemical, physiological and pharmacological studies due to their ability to slowly release Nitroxyl (HNO.). While their counterpart, secondary amine based diazeniumdiolates can slowly release nitric oxide (NO). Herein, we report the synthesis, characterization and chemical properties of several primary amine-based diazeniumdiolates. These compounds extend the range of known diazeniumdiolate-based HNO donors. For our study, the primary amines we used were: Isopropylamine, Cyclopentylamine and 4-methylcyclohexylamine. Does Prayer Work? A Review of the Scientific Question Relating to Efficacy of Prayer

    No full text
This is an analysis of sources that relate to the field of research called efficacy of prayer which aims to answer the question does prayer work? via scientific measurements of health. This field of study has made waves in both the religious world and the non-religious world. I have analyzed these sources under the lens of critical thinking and made two lists of good sources and bad sources. Faculty Sponsor: Professor Dawn Cho

    Mass Transfer in Binary Stars

I investigated the properties of mass transfer in binary star systems. I feature results from Vela X-1, V404 Cygni, and W Ursae Majoris as well as corroborating data from POSYDON. Furthermore, I found the local populations on an HR diagram of each system. Additionally, I found anomalous data properties in both MESA and V404 Cygni which warrant further investigation.
