Assessing the Impact of Climate Change on the Sustainability of Sorghum Production: A Bibliometric Analysis

    No full text
Sorghum is a crucial crop for sustainable agriculture due to its drought resistance, low carbon footprint, and diverse applications in food, feed, and bioenergy. However, understanding the impact of climate change on sorghum production is essential for ensuring its future sustainability. This study conducts a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of scientific publications related to sorghum and climate change using the Web of Science (WoS) database, covering the period from 1984 to 2024. A total of 1053 relevant papers were analyzed, revealing an average annual growth rate of 12.73% and an average citation count of 32.02 per document. Most of the publications (83.5%) were research articles, while 9.7% were review papers. Among the contributing researchers, Prasad PVV emerged as the most productive author based on an h-index of 13, whereas the United States was identified as the most influential country, contributing 235 documents and 13,750 citations. Keyword clustering analysis identified five major research themes, including sustainable energy and environmental impacts, climate resilience, socioeconomic effects of climate change, and key crops. The findings of this study offer valuable scientific insights to guide future research and policymaking on climate change and sorghum sustainability

From Diagnosis To Daily Life: Adolescents Navigating Psychosocial Challenges in Type 1 Diabetes – A Qualitative Study

    No full text
The diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) introduces significant challenges for adolescents as they navigate disease management. However, there is limited data on the psychosocial challenges, coping strategies and perceived stigmatization of adolescents who are recently diagnosed with T1DM. This study aimed to explore the disease management experiences of adolescents (aged 12–18 years) recently diagnosed with T1DM, with a focus on the psychosocial challenges encountered during the adjustment period and the coping strategies employed in the early stages after diagnosis within the cultural context of Turkey. This phenomenological qualitative study employed semi-structured interviews with 14 adolescents receiving follow-up care for T1DM. Data were analysed using qualitative thematic analysis approach. Six major themes emerged from the analysis: (1) emotional adjustment to chronic disease for adolescents and their parents, (2) fear of future limitations, (3) challenges and supports in adaptation and coping, (4) imposed/voluntary isolation, (5) fear of social judgment/stigma and feeling misunderstood, and (6) peer support. Despite advances in treatment, adolescents and their parents continue to face psychosocial challenges in the transition from childhood to adulthood. Parental support plays a critical role in adolescents’ self-management efforts, and peer support is essential during this period. Healthcare professionals, clinicians, and diabetes educators should actively promote peer support networks for adolescents with diabetes. This study highlights the importance of health professionals providing psychosocial support in adolescent diabetes management. Promoting peer support groups can reduce social isolation and improve adherence. In addition, strengthening family-centred care approaches can contribute to the long-term well-being of both adolescents and their families

The Effect of Young Adults’ Online Privacy Awareness on E-Health Literacy

    No full text
This study examines the effect of young adults’ online privacy awareness on their e-health literacy. A cross-sectional design was used, and data were collected from 475 young adults living in Konya, Türkiye, between January and February 2025. Convenience sampling was applied, and data were obtained using a “Personal Information Form,” “Online Privacy Awareness Scale,” and “E-Health Literacy Scale.” Most participants (55.6%) were male and between 21–23 years old (57.3%), and 92.4% reported having regular internet access. In addition, 73.3% stated that they take precautions to protect personal information online. Analyses were performed using IBM SPSS 26. Since the normality assumption was met, parametric tests were used. The results indicated that higher levels of online privacy awareness were associated with higher levels of e-health literacy (p <.001). This highlights the importance of strengthening online privacy awareness to support individuals’ ability to safely search for and evaluate health information in digital environments. Ethical approval was obtained prior to data collection

First clinical use of the kisspeptin analog TAK-683 in the treatment of a follicular cyst in a goat: case report

    No full text
This case report presents the therapeutic response to TAK-683, a long-acting kisspeptin analog, in the treatment of a follicular cyst that developed following a conventional estrus synchronization protocol in a goat during the non-breeding season. A two-year-old lactating Aleppo goat showing persistent nymphomaniac behaviour after estrus synchronization was diagnosed with an ovarian follicular cyst by transrectal ultrasonography. The left ovary contained a 17.7 mm thin-walled anechoic cyst, while serum estradiol (14.5 pg/mL) was elevated and progesterone (1.6 ng/mL) was low. The goat was treated with a single subcutaneous dose of the kisspeptin analog TAK-683 (5 & micro;g, Day 0). Therapeutic efficacy was assessed by monitoring ovarian ultrasonography and serum hormones on Days 3, 10, 13, and 17. Following treatment, the cyst underwent luteinization accompanied by a rise in progesterone (peak 6.4 ng/mL) and a decline in estradiol to basal levels, alongside normalization of behaviour. Color Doppler assessment confirmed progressive luteal development and vascularization, followed by natural luteolysis on Day 17 and resumption of follicular activity. In conclusion, this is the first clinical report demonstrating the successful use of TAK-683 in resolving a follicular cyst in goats. These findings suggest that TAK-683, beyond its ovulation-inducing role, may offer a promising therapeutic alternative to GnRH agonists for managing reproductive pathologies in veterinary gynaecology

Protective Role of Egg Yolks From Different Avian Species on the Post-Thaw Quality and Fertility of Cryopreserved Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) Sperm

    No full text
Egg yolks derived from various avian species have been widely applied as cryoprotective additives in mammalian sperm preservation; however, their efficacy in fish sperm cryopreservation remains poorly understood. Therefore, this study evaluated the cryoprotective effects of quail (Coturnix coturnix), chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus), and turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) egg yolks incorporated at a 10% concentration into a Tris-based extender for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) sperm cryopreservation. In addition, the extender was supplemented with 10% concentrations of different permeating cryoprotectants (CPAs)—dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), methanol (MeOH), and glycerol—to assess their effects on post-thaw sperm quality and fertilization capacity. The results indicated that a 10% concentration of DMSO, when combined with each egg yolk type separately, provided the most effective cryoprotective effect, significantly enhancing motility, motility duration, and viability (p < 0.05) compared to MeOH and glycerol. The highest mean fertilization rates of 48.2% ± 1.5% and 52.6% ± 1.7% were achieved using the Tris-based extender with 10% DMSO and 10% chicken egg yolk in 0.25-mL and 0.50-mL straws, respectively (p < 0.05). According to the results of this study, the extender containing chicken egg yolk showed significantly better (p < 0.05) post-thaw quality parameters and fertility results for the Nile tilapia sperm compared to those of quail and turkey
