    Impossible puzzle

    No full text
In the Impossible puzzle paradigm, children are instructed to assemble a wooden puzzle in which one piece is intentionally made too big, so that it would never fit. The observations are coded to score children's persistence on the task (i.e., working on the puzzle, trying to make the major piece fit)

Child Gap Overlap Task - Prosaccade

    No full text
The Gap-overlap task is a gaze contingent paradigm that measures visual attention shifting between a central and a peripheral stimulus. This is thought to be a key process underlying behavioral control. The Gap-overlap task contains three conditions; i) Gap, in which the central stimulus disappears 200ms before the appearance of the peripheral target; ii) Baseline, in which the central stimulus disappears simultaneously with the appearance of the peripheral target; iii) Overlap, in which the central stimulus remains on screen during peripheral target presentation. In the prosaccade version of the task, which is followed by the antisaccade version of the task, children are instructed to look at the peripheral stimulus appearing on the screen. During the task, a Tobii TX300 eye-tracker records eye movements at 300 Hz. Key dependent variables are latency to shift attention to the peripheral stimulus in the Gap vs Baseline conditions (Facilitation) and Gap vs Overlap conditions (Disengagement)

    fMRI - Prosocial Cyberball Game

    No full text
The fMRI - Prosocial Cyberball Game measures brain activity during the Prosocial Cyberball Game, in which a child has the opportunity to help a socially-excluded child in a ball throwing game

    Care responsibilities

    No full text
Care responsibilities assesses child care, informal care, and division of housework and child care tasks

Behavioral Inhibition and Activation Scale (BIS/BAS)

    No full text
The Behavioral Inhibition and Activation Scales (BIS/BAS) measure behavioral inhibition (BIS) and behavioral activation (BAS). This instrument consists of one inhibitory factor (BIS scale) and three activational factors (BAS scales). The BIS scale includes items that refer to the anticipation of punishment. The BAS scales consist of items that refer to the anticipation of reward and can be divided into three components: fun seeking (BAS-Fun), reward responsiveness (BAS-Reward), and drive (BAS-Drive)
