    Early Adolescent Temperament Questionnaire (EATQ)

    No full text
The Early Adolescent Temperament Questionnaire (EATQ) is designed to specifically tap experiences common to adolescents, and is available in self- and parent-report formats. It assesses temperament and self-regulation via adaptation of scales used in studies of children and adults. It has 10 subscales: Activation Control (the capacity to perform an action when there is a strong tendency to avoid it); Affiliation (the desire for warmth and closeness with others, independent of shyness or extraversion); Attention (the capacity to focus attention as well as to shift attention when desired); Fear (unpleasant affect related to anticipation of distress); Frustration (negative affect related to interruption of ongoing tasks or goal blocking); High Intensity Pleasure (the pleasure derived from activities involving high intensity or novelty); Inhibitory Control (the capacity to plan, and to suppress inappropriate responses); Perceptual Sensitivity (detection or perceptual awareness of slight, low-intensity stimulation in the environment); Pleasure Sensitivity (pleasure related to activities or stimuli involving low intensity, rate, complexity, novelty, and incongruity); and Shyness. Two behavioral scales are also included; Aggression (hostile and aggressive actions, including person- and object-directed physical violence, direct and indirect verbal aggression, and hostile reactivity); and Depressive Mood (unpleasant affect and lowered mood, loss of enjoyment and interest in activities)

No Pain, No Gain Revisited: The Impact of Positive and Negative Psychotherapy Experiences on Treatment Outcome

    No full text
Objective: Psychotherapy may have many benefits for patients with mental health problems, but patients may also have negative experiences related to the therapy. Not much is known about these negative psychotherapy experiences and their impact on treatment outcome. The aim of this study was to examine the association between positive and negative psychotherapy experiences and treatment outcome. Method: A total of 131 patients participated in the study. They received treatment as usual and were assessed for positive and negative psychotherapy experiences at mid-treatment and post-treatment using the Positive and Negative Experiences of Psychotherapy Questionnaire (PNEP). Treatment outcome was measured by the Outcome Questionnaire - 45 item version (OQ-45). Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the data. Results: All patients reported positive psychotherapy experiences at mid-treatment. At least one negative experience was reported by 69% of participants. After correction for baseline severity (i.e., OQ-45 at baseline) and relevant demographic variables, positive psychotherapy experiences at mid-treatment emerged as a predictor for treatment outcome. In contrast, negative psychotherapy experiences did not predict treatment outcome. However, reporting more negative experiences was associated with reporting fewer positive experiences at mid- and end of treatment. Conclusions: Both positive and negative psychotherapy experiences commonly occur. Although in this study negative psychotherapy experiences did not predict treatment outcome in terms of symptom reduction, the findings do suggest that negative experiences may influence the way in which patients evaluate their treatment. Although positive experiences outweigh negative experiences, patients should be informed that negative experiences may also occur

TitleFrom constructive to critical and everywhere in between: An exploration of education leaders’ reactions to upward feedback. SummaryFeedback from learners is important to support faculty development, but negative feedback can harm teachers’ motivations. Leaders of educational programs, therefore, need to balance enabling students’ voices to be heard with maintaining teachers’ enthusiasm and commitment to teaching. Given the paucity of research to explain or guide this struggle, we explored why and how education leaders grapple with negative learner feedback. The datafile, Study 4_Harsh Feedback.nvpx, is an NVivo file containing interview transcripts with 11 educational leader participants.<BR

    Consumentenconjunctuuronderzoek - CCO 2023

    No full text
