Multi-omics profiling of pancreatic islets from type II diabetic and non-diabetic human donors
No full textDespite the prevalence of Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D), understanding of mechanisms driving pathology in pancreatic islet beta cells remains limited. We utilized a multi-omics approach to evaluate the transcriptional and biochemical makeup of islets from human donors with T2D and non-diabetic controls. Frozen islets from five T2D and five non-diabetic deceased donors were purchased from the Integrated Islet Distribution Program (IIDP). The percentage of islets ranged from 70-90% and islet viability from 85-95%. Transcriptomic data (N=10) were obtained by RNA-Seq, proteomic data (N=6) by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), and untargeted high-resolution metabolomic data (N=10) by LC-MS. This dataset contains pre-processed data from all three omics methodologies as well as code for its analysis and basic metadata on islet donors
