This study develops a spatial distribution of profitability across agricultural and forestry land use in Latvia. The profitability at the individual parcel level has been calculated, taking into account the characteristics of each plot and management practices. However, to ensure a clear and transparent spatial visualisation, the parcel-level results were summarised in a single grid with 100-hectare cells (Profitability_grid)

Dataset for a general population survey regarding green and digital innovations in rural SMEs

    No full text
The data were collected by KANTAR Latvia through a structured survey. In shaping the sample, the focus was placed on part of the population who has actually used rural tourism services and purchase locally produced agricultural goods. To make sure their answers would be meaningful, participants were selected based on having enough knowledge and experience to comment on the topics of the study. Special attention was paid to balance the sample in terms of gender, age, and region. With these steps, the final group of respondents (n=1004) mirrors the demographic structure of Latvia and can be regarded as nationally representative

The data set and its accompanying information include sociological survey conducted in April 2022 titled "Natural resource users’ survey of nature protection in forests" as part of the Fundamental and Applied Research project "Ready for change? “Sustainable management of common natural resources” (lzp-2019/1-0319). Ongoing environmental collapse is putting increasing pressure on ecosystems and social communities, particularly, in the regions of Latvia, as well as it is potentially felt by different users of natural resources. As part of the case study a survey of Latvian population – natural resource users was carried out, meaning two target groups in which a sample was formed – a. fishers and hunters; b. forest owners and / or forest resource users. The survey was carried out in order to study the attitude and assessment of natural resources, including users of forest resources, nature protection assessment in forest territories and ecosystems, necessary solutions and natural resources policy. Latvia internet users population aged 18 and older. The anonymized dataset was obtained by conducting an internet survey (CAWI) within the SKDS internet survey panel, by creating a sample of the natural resource users in aforementioned two target groups. Data collection took place from April 7th to April 11th, 2022. The survey was conducted by the research center SKDS, commissioned by researchers from the University of Latvia within the framework of the Fundamental and Applied Research project "Ready for change? “Sustainable management of common natural resources” (lzp-2019/1-0319), conducted at the Advanced Social and Political Research Institute (ASPRI) of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Latvia (LU). Image data and ground truth for evaluation of visual odometry algorithms primarily intended for tree nursery inspection machines

    No full text
Dataset contains 112 RGB images taken using perpendicularly downward facing camera Alvium G5-508 with TECHSPEC® HR Series 16 mm Fixed Focal Length lens, sensor pixel size is 3.45 μm. Image resolution is 2432x2018, images are archived as ZIP file in "Images.zip" containing files "pxxx.png", where xxx is image id. Camera was calibrated using OpenCV tools (https://docs.opencv.org/4.x/dc/dbb/tutorial_py_calibration.html), and all images are undistorted using intrinsic matrix obtained as a result of camera calibration. In images Pinus sylvestris (the Scots pine, Scotch pine, Baltic pine, or European red pine) seedlings in cartridges with 40x40 mm cells are captured. For measuring purposes, a ruler is also captured in all images. Exact distance from camera to surface (cartridge with seedlings) was not measured, however it was not changing more than +/-1 mm during capture process. Images were captured with the camera being still with exposure and shutter speed set on auto. Each image was captured after camera was moved (translated) by 10 +/-1 mm over X axis, however due to camera driving mechanism construction, minor translation also over Y axis. Rotation movement was avoided. Camera was moved using rails with stepper motors. View of the experimental setup and axis description is given in file "Setup.pdf". File "Translations.txt" gives "ground truth" information: translation amount in pixels for both axes between consecutive frames. This was determined manually for all frames. Dataset is intended for evaluation of visual odometry algorithms primarily for tree nurseries
