    No full text
Speech etiquette is a fundamental aspect of communication that influences a child's social development. This thesis examines the role of the family in shaping children's speech etiquette, with a focus on how communication patterns within the family environment contribute to the development of respectful, polite, and effective communication skills. The study highlights the importance of daily interactions between parents, siblings, and extended family members as the primary medium through which children learn speech etiquette. Additionally, it explores how parents serve as role models in teaching polite language, and how cultural and social norms influence children's speech habits. By investigating the ways families actively engage in teaching respectful communication, this paper emphasizes the critical role of the family unit in the early stages of language development and speech etiquette acquisition. The findings suggest that the family’s consistent use of proper language and positive reinforcement are key factors in cultivating speech habits that support a child’s social success and integration into society
