This study was essential because it determined the damage caused by the members to victims and its adverse effects on the community. This study utilized the quantitative approach through the distribution of questionnaires to the respondents

Culture plays a very significant role in the way a woman perceives and prepares for her birthing experience. This study aimed to determine the specific cultural perinatal practices and pregnancy outcomes among 30 Badjao women in Totolan, Dauis, and Bohol. The respondents were Badjao mothers who had been pregnant and had given birth regardless of age and regardless of pregnancy. A purposive qualitative study was utilized, and data were gathered through group and key informant interviews. The study revealed that practices of the majority in the prenatal period still adhere to traditional beliefs. It also revealed that the majority in the intraportal and postpartum periods also practice traditional beliefs. Many of these beliefs were not beneficial to the health of the mother and the fetus and a growing infant.  However, the study also revealed that there were acceptable ways being widely practiced by the Badjao mothers as well. The study further showed that despite the existing traditional practices, records had shown that there were very few instances of negative pregnancy outcomes. Still, the negative pregnancy outcomes are a cause for concern.  It is prudent to say that women who are steeped in traditional cultural beliefs need supportive health educational services to increase their level of knowledge and enhance the recommended health practices

    Get PDF
Mathematical aptitude reflected in academic performance is known to be based upon the attitudes of students in approaching the subject. This study aimed to determine how mathematics self-efficacy and anxiety affect academic performance. The researchers used the descriptive-normative survey and documentary analysis of existing records with the stakeholders, the Grade 7 students. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product-Moment Coefficient of Correlation, t-test, and Chi-Square. Results showed that students had an average level of mathematics self-efficacy regarding understanding and applying the concepts of the subject. However, they also had high anxiety when working with Mathematics tasks or less confidence in achieving high marks or grades. The study concluded that the higher the students’ level of Mathematics self-efficacy, the lower their level of Mathematics anxiety. Conversely, the higher the students’ level of self-efficacy and the lower their mathematical anxiety, the higher their academic performance. It implied that education programs addressing the enhancement of Mathematics self-efficacy and reducing Mathematics anxiety among students would not only reshape their perception of the subject’s difficulty but also improve their academic performance as they move up to the secondary level

The Asian Psychological Services and Assessment, Inc. (APSA) was formed in 1987 in response to the assessment and testing needs of the Philippine industry in assessing the abilities and personalities of Asian workers. Academic performance is measured and premised on several components per learning area, namely written work (40%), performance tasks (30%), and periodic examinations (30%). The main purpose of the study was to determine the APSA results in Mathematics and English in relation to the academic performance of Kindergarten 2 pupils of the University of Bohol - Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center (UB-VDTALC) for School Years 2013-2014, 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. The study utilized a purposive complete enumeration design using documentary analysis of existing records of the pupils’ academic performance as reflected in Form 137 and APSA results in the learning areas of Mathematics and English for the said timeframe. The resultant data were analyzed using frequency and percentages, and statistical treatments such as Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Analysis of Variance. A high positive correlation was seen between academic performance and APSA results in English for three consecutive school years. Math performance in both APSA and academics were significantly correlated. The performance of pupils in the learning competencies does not significantly vary because the ratings in the three school years were almost the same in both English and Mathematics

    Get PDF
Masculinity ideology refers to beliefs, constructs, and conceptualizations of the norms and roles of men. This research aimed to find out the level of endorsement of Filipino men to the prevailing masculinity ideology and their level of gender role conflict. Furthermore, this study desired to increase men’s awareness of their roles and work hand in hand with women. A cross-sectional survey research design was utilized for this study. A minimum of 900 questionnaires were purposely distributed to volunteers who were single, working, at least 18 years of age, have finished college, or if not, have at least some college experience to satisfy the requirement for a regression analysis method. Data were subjected to the Pearson R correlation method utilizing SPSS. Results showed the seemingly standing belief that men should be good providers of the family. Individual characteristics defined their roles as being objective, independent, and competitive rather than being physically strong or brave, or attractive to the opposite sex. Among the masculinity ideologies, it is Macho-Guapito (virile -handsome) that is related to all the areas of gender role conflict. Gender role conflict was only slightly experienced by men, with the highest score in the area of success, power, and competition
