Walk a Mile in My Shoes
13yo female comes back from basketball practice complaining of pain in her right foot. Explores team communications, virtual roles.
Premise: This is about communications with a team environment. FHT stuff. Based on a simple ankle injury. Need to decide what key points you want to convey. Main things are: 1. Avoid the common help seeking paths of ER and walkin clinics -- there are other options. 2. Communication between professionals -- which are the most appropriate methods 3. Perspectives of seeing issues from another perso

Supplemental material for: Public acceptance of emerging biotechnologies in animal agriculture
Biotechnologies are being developed in animal agriculture to address disease and other challenges, and understanding public acceptance of these technologies is essential to inform technology development. We conducted a survey to investigate acceptance of two biotechnologies: antimicrobial peptides (AMP) and gene editing (GE). Structural equation modeling for North American participants (n = 1,340) showed trust in institutions had the greatest effect on acceptance through indirect effects of perceived benefit and risk, and we found a direct effect of trust on acceptance. Participants had higher levels of trust in institutions and perceived AMP to be more beneficial, acceptable, and less risky compared to GE. In open-ended responses, participants argued that both biotechnologies could improve or harm animal welfare, weighed implications for disease management, described benefits for humans, and discussed their trust in the institutions behind technology development. These results offer insight into views about different biotechnologies in animal agriculture, and support communication between technology developers and publics
Generating Synthetic Remote Sensing Data with Deep Learning for Improved Wetland Classification
Wetlands in the Prairie Pothole region of Canada are critical ecosystems that support biodiversity and provide essential ecosystem services, yet they face increasing threats from agricultural expansion and climate change. Remote sensing offers a powerful tool for monitoring these landscapes over time, enabling large-scale, consistent land cover classification compared to conventional field-based methods. However, machine learning approaches often struggle with rare wetland classes, such as fens, due to limited training data. To address this challenge, a CycleGAN model, a generative adversarial network (GAN) designed for image-to-image translation, was used to generate synthetic four-band orthophoto imagery of fens from more readily available marsh imagery. The model was trained using classified wetland imagery from central Saskatchewan within the ArcGIS deep learning framework, and the resulting synthetic fen images were statistically compared to real fen images. A t-test (p < 0.05) revealed significant differences in mean pixel intensity across all bands except blue, while Jensen-Shannon divergence values (Blue: 0.1288, Green: 0.2077, Red: 0.2339, IR: 0.1885) indicated relative similarity between real and synthetic histograms. Additionally, synthetic images exhibited significantly higher mean entropy values in all four bands (p < 0.05), suggesting increased variability. These results demonstrate that CycleGAN-generated images retain key spectral characteristics of real fens while introducing additional diversity, offering a potential solution for improving wetland classification models

Bear's Burr Hole
How do you create teaching videos around rarely performed clinical procedures? We demonstrate how we used a mashup or commercial and home-made video materials, along with a virtual patient case to provide contextually relevant information around performing a cranial burr hole procedure
